00:26We are in the Elite Tower, one of the buildings affected by the double earthquakes of June 24th.
00:33We have been doing an extensive tour inside the building.
00:37This is one of the buildings that is undergoing reparations right now.
00:41This is all in the framework of the Venezuela Renace or Venezuela Rises Again plan.
00:47This plan that has to do with the recovery and reconstruction efforts after the earthquakes.
00:53In this case, one of the most important works are being done in these buildings that are the ones labeled
01:00yellow.
01:01In the capital city, also in other affected areas.
01:05For example, in the last days, we were in La Guaira in similar works that are underway over there as
01:12well.
01:12Let's recall that the buildings categorized as yellow, as are those that need urgent repairs,
01:19but they have not been compromised at the structure as a whole.
01:24That means there is no risk of collapse.
01:26For example, this Elite Tower in San Bernardino has 15 stories.
01:31The main damage was done to the lower floors.
01:37That is structurally the most common damage that happened across the different buildings.
01:42But the residents in the top buildings, for example, are staying here.
01:47They are living, they are sleeping here because there is no danger to the tower as a whole,
01:52no damage to the column and other structural elements.
01:56But the walls, for example, and particularly the external walls have been very much affected.
02:02And after the earthquake, there was imminent risk of collapse of those walls.
02:09So that meant a risk for anyone coming in and out, for example.
02:13And that is why this is one of the towers that was prioritized right now.
02:19They have been working for 15 days.
02:22And they have, for example, underwent a demolition, a controlled demolition of the main walls
02:31that have been recovered for most of these floors, the first, second, third, fourth and fifth.
02:38And not only rebuilt the walls, but also they have been reinforced with specific anti-seismic elements.
02:47That is one of the main reparations that is underway right now.
02:53We have been talking to the engineers in charge, to the workers that are right now here on site,
02:59to the neighbors as well that are very grateful for the rapid response.
03:05And, of course, one important thing to say as well is that the works are 24-7.
03:11They are ongoing every day of the week in order to ensure a rapid response.
03:18And also that the neighbors have highlighted, of course, the fear they went through when the earthquake happened,
03:28but also the security they received once the engineers came here.
03:32All the inspections were made, and they were told that there was no compromise to this building.
03:40That is all part of the Venezuela Rises Again plan,
03:45a plan that has over 11,700 households that are right now in reparations across the country, across Venezuela.
