00:01This is Cora Radella. She's a choreographer.
00:10Her recent project, Boomerang, pushes dance to a place of extreme physicality and graceful strength.
00:16You have to see it to believe it.
00:21Movement is so, so deep for me.
00:30I had a fairly typical beginning of dance.
00:33Most little girls in ballet cannot wait to graduate and dream of being in the Nutcracker.
00:39When I was told that it was time to be on point and be in the Nutcracker, I quit.
00:44I have benefited from my ballet training, but it's just not what interests me.
00:50I prefer to climb trees and run around.
00:55I had a sister who was severely disabled. She couldn't walk, talk, or chew.
01:01I had this very intense, non-verbal relationship with her until she died when I was 12.
01:07I feel like that's a fairly large component of why I ended up being a choreographer and a mover.
01:15The drama is in the movement and the relationships between the performers, really working with gravity and momentum.
01:22I work on being on the edge of control.
01:25It's not about presenting drama. It's about living it.
01:30Our work combines rawness and athleticism, but there's also tenderness, vulnerability, and intimacy.
01:43We're going to stay in the middle of the world together.
01:43If we're done, please don't
