00:09In the Middle East, the humanitarian consequences of the latest escalation, including in and around Bab-el-Mandam Strait and
00:16the Strait of Hormuz, are continuing to grow.
00:21The escalation threatens to further disrupt maritime trade, flights, border crossings, and regional supply chains on which millions of people
00:31rely on.
00:32Any further disruption could drive up humanitarian needs and costs at a time when aid operations are already underfunded and
00:41already overstretched.
00:44We, of course, continue to follow the situation closely and stand ready to provide humanitarian support as needed.
00:51The widening impact of the escalation is putting more civilians at risk.
00:55As the Secretary-General said, we call on all parties to respect international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian objects,
01:02and avoid disrupting the essential services on which civilians rely.
