00:00The intersection of the Kiwa Valley Highway and the Murray Valley Highway.
00:03I've heard from the community lots of concerns around the safety of this intersection.
00:08So three months ago I put in a thread of information requests about what has been done,
00:13what planning has been done, what studies have been done, how many accidents have we had in this.
00:19The Department of Transport has 30 days to respond to this
00:23and we've now been waiting for three months with no response.
00:27I've put in a number of complaints to see what's happening
00:30and the government's just not listening.
00:32They won't respond to what the needs are.
00:34We need to know, is this safe?
00:36Is there any planning that's been done so that we can deal with what is a growing region?
00:41We know the areas of Kallara, of Tulangita, particularly Baranduda are growing
00:46and this is a focal point for all of that future traffic.
00:49So what is the plan that the government has for our growing region?
00:53What's been the response for getting the response?
00:57The only thing we've had is an automated response saying your request has been received
01:03and we then were asked for an extension of time, which we said we wouldn't give an extension of time.
01:07We've then also had to complain through the official channels to try and see if we can get some response
01:13about what's going on with this intersection.
01:15And I guess, what was your motive behind putting in this FOI?
01:20Are you setting yourself up with information for if you're elected?
01:23Well, we want to get the best available information we can in order to make decisions
01:27around what sort of investment needs to happen.
01:30You know, a Liberal National Government is going to be committed to investing in this region
01:34and you can see that by the 25% regional infrastructure guarantee.
01:38We're not going to be ignoring the regions.
01:40There is going to be investment and that needs to facilitate the growth of this region.
01:44A key part of that is the transport infrastructure needed around our growth corridors.
