00:21We'll start with the first headline.
00:23Max Freed, Garrett Cole combo was worth the wait and doubleheader split with Pirates.
00:28Freed, five scoreless innings in the win.
00:31Cole, seven dominant innings in a loss that, I guess we can all agree, wasn't his fault.
00:37Did the Freed-Cole duo show that they're worth the combined $542 million price tag?
00:46They look like an incredible duo.
00:48And when you start really putting together this Yankees rotation,
00:52it's what gives you a lot of hope that this team can put it all together
00:55and with a strong deadline go on a run.
00:57Because you've got Cam Schlittler, you've got Max Freed, you've got Garrett Cole,
01:01you've got Carl Jordan at some point later in the season.
01:03You feel like you have four top-end starters who can really shut down any offense.
01:08The Pirates are one of the top offenses in baseball.
01:10And Cole's last start came against the Dodgers, another top-flight offense.
01:13So I feel really good about those two right now.
01:16Next headline.
01:17Yankees know they need everyone to step up as offensive woes deepen.
01:22Offense was absolutely terrible again, man.
01:24And hell, without a run in 16 of 18 innings.
01:28Call him or the hymns out, Ryan.
01:30Who needs to step it up and needs to step it up right now?
01:35Yeah, I mean, Cody Bellinger has to be better.
01:37He hasn't hit a home run since June 17th.
01:40I think when you look up and down the offense,
01:41you haven't gotten great at-bats from Jose Caballero.
01:44The catching position continues to be an issue for the Yankees,
01:46whether it's Austin Wells or Ali Sanchez.
01:49Then you start looking at the infields.
01:51I think Jazz is starting to wake up a little bit.
01:53But you look at shortstop, you're not getting enough there.
01:56In the outfields, you're not getting a lot from Jason Dominguez.
01:59You need your depth guy to step up.
02:01But I think it starts with Cody Bellinger.
02:03Because of these offensive struggles and the trade deadline looming,
02:07I mean, it's right around the corner.
02:09What's that move you want to see Brian Cashman make
02:12to add some sort of hot bat to this lineup?
02:16I think Ryan Jeffers is a perfect fit for this team.
02:19He brings really strong bat-to-ball abilities.
02:21He has good power.
02:22And he's an upgrade at a catching position
02:24that has been the league worst in all offensive categories for the Yankees.
02:29I think, again, Jeffers is a great fit from all of his skills.
02:32And you look at this offense and you put Ryan Jeffers in it,
02:35you're going to feel a lot better about your ability
02:37to put up runs on a nightly basis.
02:38You kind of called out Jose Caballero in terms of the offensive woes
02:44a little bit earlier.
02:45He headlines, or he's a part of this next headline.
02:49Yankees live it with MLB overhandling of Jose Caballero pitch timer fiasco.
02:55First, let me set it up to the people at home,
02:57what happened for those who don't know.
02:59Then, of course, we've got to get your thoughts.
03:01All right, with two outs and a runner on first base in the sixth inning,
03:05Cabby was called for an automatic strike on a pitch clock violation.
03:08It was the second strike of the at-bat, so he struck out.
03:12By rule, Cabby has to make eye contact with the pitcher
03:15when there's about eight seconds left on the timer.
03:18He was called for this violation with nine seconds left to go.
03:22He likes to wait to use it as kind of a stalling tactic,
03:27but it backfired last night because MLB supposedly changed up the rule
03:31and didn't tell the Yankees.
03:33Which side are you on on this one, Ryan Garcia, MLB or the Yankees?
03:39Look, I want better at-bats from Jose Caballero,
03:42but I think MLB is completely in the wrong here.
03:45To not inform the player and manager ahead of the game
03:48about the supposed rule change is unbelievable.
03:51I believe that if you're going to alter the rule book,
03:54you should inform the parties that it's affecting.
03:56I have no problem with them saying they don't want this stalling tactic
04:00to catch wind across the league, but it is ridiculous to not inform
04:04both player and manager before the game.
04:06But what do you think of the tactic?
04:08I know it's technically in between the rule box or the rules,
04:13but do you think that's kind of cheating the game a little bit?
04:16I think it is a little tacky, right?
04:18Like, I think we can all agree that from a viewing experience standpoint,
04:22it's maybe not the best thing for baseball,
04:24and you also have the issue where, well, if Caballero's doing it,
04:27will other players begin doing it,
04:29and then do you just have this massive issue where guys are stalling,
04:33it's kind of going against the nature of the rule,
04:35which is to speed up the game a little bit.
04:37I have no problem with MLB changing the rule itself
04:40and making sure this can't happen,
04:42as long as they disclose it to the players and manager,
04:46which I guess now it's out in the open.
