00:00It's Benzinga, bringing Wall Street to Main Street.
00:03The House passed a $1.15 trillion defense policy bill Wednesday in a 2-16-2-12 vote,
00:09according to the Associated Press. The measure would rename the Department of Defense as the
00:14Department of War and provide service members with pay raises ranging from 5% to 7%.
00:20Democrats opposed the spending increase in conservative policy provisions,
00:24including restrictions on gender-related care through TRICARE
00:27and eased firearm rules on military bases. Republican leaders also attached Trump's
00:33elections overhaul bill, deepening the partisan divide. The spending would require separate
00:38appropriations legislation before taking effect. The Senate has not passed its version,
00:43and a final bill may not be completed until after the midterm elections.
