00:15the odyssey yesterday yeah and i think in full disclosure i think i talked about this yesterday
00:19when i said hey i was going to go see it is i have not read the book all right
00:23so i was going
00:24into it i did the cliff notes version the youtube version of what do i need to know before i
00:29go into
00:29it it was it was good um the acting i thought was was really good it's just really long and
00:39it didn't
00:40get to the type of movie that i like until about the last 40 minutes where you have the scenes
00:45that
00:45i like fight scenes all right so no secret there um and so it just i felt like it was
00:52long so it was
00:53to me it was i think everybody should go see it it's a it's really good i just was yeah
00:59lisa more familiar with the story yeah she's much more well read and yeah she thought it was it was
01:05really good and she had done a lot of research in terms of how christopher nolan made the film
01:10different things that he did and the the music that she talked about they created an instrument
01:16instruments not not just one but multiple instruments to try and recreate what they thought
01:21the sounds would actually be from that era that's cool yeah so you know there's some cool factor to it
01:27um but i thought it was just kind of yeah imax yes okay visually the movie stunning the effects
01:35and by the way they actually go out on the boat to shoot like nolan is not a guy who
01:39wants to do it
01:40all in in cgi right and he shot it for imax i knew you'd like the the final 45 minutes
01:48yeah it was good
01:49that was right up your alley i could have walked in at that point and been good said something to
01:55you
01:55before the show i said loud right you said well i'm not going to be the guy to say it
01:59because well
01:59yeah it's i've kind of noticed this over the last couple of movies that we've gone to and they've
02:03normally been kids movies in fact they've all been kids movies it feels like they turned the volume up
02:09and maybe this is just old guy no turn down the music damn kids um it just it was a
02:18very loud movie
02:20you you can say it without feeling old i'm almost 20 years younger than you and i thought it was
02:24loud
02:24okay i'm glad that i'm glad i'm not the only one maybe the only two i don't know but yeah

02:30very loud um your review doesn't surprise me yeah i think i know you well enough to know what you

02:35like yeah and i also knew you were gonna go was a long movie it was now which meant i
02:41needed
02:44sustenance lots of popcorn lots of well and i love movie theater popcorn get the butter on it
02:50and you have i like the white cheddar and i and and depending on where you go they do offer
02:55you
02:55the opportunity to fill one of those little cups that you know like if you go to five guys you
03:02see
03:02the same cups that you use for the ketchup you can use for that and they put a little lid
03:05on it so
03:05you don't have to worry about spilling it and then once you get to that underneath the top layer of
03:10popcorn you can add a little bit more white cheddar and eat that up and then you get to the
03:14next layer
03:15and so it's it's every bite is a yummy bite um but the question i have for our listeners and
03:24for you
03:24guys fair or foul going into it i knew it was gonna be a three-hour movie and it really
03:32doesn't matter
03:32how long the movie is because i would do this anyway i stopped and picked up a bite to eat
03:38chick i picked up chick-fil-a i like the nuggets and the fries and we took that into the
03:45movie
03:46so that we could eat it during the movie now i also like i mentioned i got the the popcorn
03:51i also got
03:52some candy so it wasn't like i just brought in food as to rob the the concession stand but
04:00where do people land on can you bring movie into or can you bring movie into a theater can you
04:07bring
04:07food into a theater well i always bring snacks i'll say not necessarily food like that but i always
04:19bring like a bag of candy or whatever my snack of choice is we typically do we'll still once in
04:27a
04:27while get concession like popcorn if you're gonna eat popcorn i'm not smuggling popcorn into a movie
04:31theater i'm gonna get it there and we'll get maybe a pop but sometimes i even bring in my own
04:37drink
04:37yeah i brought i didn't bring it i got a bottle of water because they sell the big ones there
04:41and i
04:41know again it was a three-hour movie i want to get dehydrated the food is a little different i
04:46think
04:46like an actual meal i've done it once where i brought in like cooked food yeah well and i know
04:54okay i
04:54went to one of the imagine theaters and they offer food there they do the the issue i've had before

05:00when you order it sometimes it takes a long time before it actually gets to you and well you weren't
05:07going anywhere it would be you'd be there for a while right but i'm hungry now yeah um and so

05:13it's you know hangry john is not a nice individual to be around and here's the other thing too is
05:20how many people i got a small popcorn which is still a big tub of popcorn
05:25i always finish it because we usually get there 15 maybe 20 minutes before the movie starts
05:30it's gone before the the movie even starts oh i think that's that's every time for me too i think
05:35that's the most relatable thing yeah i got free refills on that on popcorn i think only if you get
05:39certain the big one i feel like they used to yeah like i got a medium and it was gone
05:44before the
05:45movie started do you do you ever bring anything in with you i have i didn't the last time i
05:51went
05:52i got a drink i got popcorn and then i got one of those little little pizzas yeah oh little
05:56pizza
05:57yeah it's it's not the greatest pizza it's movie theater pizza i'm not opposed to bringing food and
06:02i'm not judging you for doing it i know there's some people who hate it because movie theaters make
06:07a lot of money on concessions well they charge a lot of money they do for their concessions but
06:13i've always like i have a i have a movie purse like a purse i only use when we go
06:18to the movies
06:20because it's large enough to take extra snacks otherwise i use just like one of those a small
06:24like belt bag like they're very little like it holds my wallet and lip gloss and that's it so i
06:27have like a movie purse where i can throw some swedish fish and whatever colin's bringing a bag of
06:33chips but they sell swedish fish there i know but they're way more expensive five times
06:39so is it fair or foul to take movie into a movie theater to take movie in to take food

06:45it again you did it again that's okay i hope they bring the movie can you bring some food yes

07:19on the full menu that i had i knew it was going to be a long movie and i knew

07:23popcorn before it even started so i also got milk duds and the peanut butter m&ms i thought you

07:32if i'm if i'm going down this road i'm just gonna hey yeah go for it yeah pedal down left

07:41um i think it's foul but i do it anyway that's and like when we when we go with the
07:47kids um
07:48they all they all now they both want blankets right because we go on these big recliner chairs
07:52and they want to bring a blanket so i'll bring the blankets in a diaper bag and i bring snacks
07:57for
07:57them from home i don't want them to eat a ton of candy anyway so it's normally like snacks we
08:01have at
08:01home and they'll bring their water bottles and i bring that in and they eat those snacks and the
08:07only thing we really buy is popcorn yeah and i think you should like that's a must if i'm going
08:12to a movie theater i'm buying popcorn yeah so i think okay let's frame it that way you pay for
08:16the
08:16ticket you're gonna pay for popcorn is it then okay everything else is fair game you've paid your
08:23your dues i also think there's an etiquette to you do have to sneak it in you can't be brazen
08:29about it
08:30oh yeah i don't think anybody's gonna you know you got a pizza box white castle and bring in the
08:36white castle do though so the last time we went to a movie it was for toy story 5 and
08:40it was a
08:40bus like it was people were they don't even they don't check tickets no you're right i bought my
08:45ticket online no one stopped me there's no one even standing like down the aisle way to go into the
08:50theater so no one's watching you they sell food at the theater anyway like would somebody stop you if
08:56you walked in with your chick-fil-a out like you're just carrying the nuggets in your hand
09:00would anyone have said anything to you i don't think they would but i think that's where you're
09:05foul you have to play the game yeah i never walk around with my nuggets in my hand john

09:24now the only thing that would have stopped me from going in for free would have been every seats
09:28claimed for this movie but do people go in without paying for a seat i think you could easily the

09:34the last time i went there was not a soul really so the one that we go to there's always
09:38somebody
09:39there and we got to show the little qr code yeah and they they look and say okay your theater's
09:44over
09:44there your theater's over there yeah they weren't no one was doing that the last movie i went to
09:48got some calls pouring in got some text to read fair foul smuggling food into the movie theater john did
