Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed calls by eight U.S. Democratic lawmakers to review ties with Malaysia over its policy on Israeli citizens, saying they were misguided and ignored longstanding policy.

00:10He said the eight US lawmakers who proposed the review appeared to be out of touch with current global developments.
00:17The lawmakers had earlier urged Secretary of State Mark Rubio to review Washington's security and economic ties with Malaysia
00:24and suspend US military training funding after Anwar said Israeli citizens found in the country would be deported.
00:31They also alleged that Hamas members had received training in Malaysia, citing a report by an Israeli counterterrorism research institute.
00:40In response, Anwar rubbished the allegation that Hamas members had trained in Malaysia.
00:44He also said many countries imposed similar restrictions and noted that Malaysia has maintained its policies for decades.
00:51He said Malaysia would continue maintaining good relations with the United States while also preserving ties with other countries.
00:58However, Anwar said Malaysia would continue speaking out against the killing of innocent civilians in the Middle East
01:04and would not remain silent about the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza.
