00:12I have lots of confidence, and yeah, I have worries, I could die, but my belief when I
00:20die, if it's my time to go, I'll just get somewhere quicker, like my dad said, that
00:27we're all going someday, and I'll wait for you.
01:03Hey, Robbie, what's going on?
01:05What are you guys shoving out?
01:06Nothing, just last minute BS, you know how it goes.
01:10So what do I do when I get down there on Tuesday and you're not around?
01:14Practice your speech and jump good.
01:17Thanks, Robbie, I appreciate that.
01:20All right, don't be calling me.
01:21All right.
01:22I'll just call you when I get there.
01:23I'm going to call you every six hours along the way to make sure.
01:26Yeah, well, my phone doesn't come in at some bars.
01:31Rob is going to Hollywood to shoot a commercial for Procter & Gamble.
01:35Procter & Gamble's brand, Dawn, has challenged Robbie to jump as many dishes as one bottle
01:40of Dawn dish soap can wash.
01:42I guess they think a bottle can wash 10,000 dishes, which is probably a long way.
01:51Where's my Japs?
01:52Me and Pete, Todd, loaded up and headed from Squidward to Los Angeles to do the Dawn commercial.
01:59Calmade.
02:00Calcium.
02:02We were a little behind schedule.
02:05This is Robbie's diet here.
02:06We got Slim Fast.
02:07We were running out of mixer at night.
02:09We make vodka and Slim Fast drinks.
02:13Gelated mineral.
02:14Grape extract seed.
02:16There's no food.
02:17Maybe a banana.
02:19Life of a rock star.
02:21Oh, this is the stuff that all old guys take when their joints start hurting.
02:27Glucosamine.
02:29I don't want to start it, though.
02:30Once you start it, you've got to stay on it.
02:36I mean, you combine all these guys and you give them 48 hours.
02:40I just hope they get down there.
02:45Never a goal moment on Team Knievel!
02:52Hey, will you guys shut up?
02:53Let me call Zook.
02:54I've got to tell them we're on the way.
02:56Just shut up!
02:57Dan Zucker.
02:58Hey, Zook.
02:59We're on the way, man.
03:00Make sure you call me every three hours.
03:02I want to know how your progress is going.
03:04We'll be there.
03:05Just don't even call me until we get there.
03:07I'll call you.
03:07Don't call me.
03:08Bye.
03:10If Robbie and the crew don't show up by Monday, I'm the one who's going to have to explain
03:14to the dawn people why we have to push the jump back.
03:18Our first stop was 35 miles out of town at one of my favorite places, the Gooey Duck Tavern.
03:24And we actually all needed a little breakfast.
03:27So that's about as far as we got the first stop.
03:30Look at the size of this thing.
03:33This is a Japanese delicacy.
03:35They pay how much for this stuff?
03:37$75 a pound.
03:41You hear his name in every town.
03:43Is he for real or just a clown?
03:45Everybody calls him evil, evil, evil, Knievel.
03:56I can't contain Robbie.
03:58I mean, I give him the full playing field.
04:00I let him go from sideline to sideline.
04:02I can't control him.
04:04Maybe I can contain him once in a while.
04:07Okay, one time.
04:08Right here.
04:08Okay, watch that.
04:09Hold on.
04:10Watch that blood of your ass.
04:11You take it easy, homie.
04:12I'm getting old.
04:13Remember that.
04:13I've got to show you my new grip.
04:18Oh, I wanted to see a new grip.
04:21I can't beat him in the first place.
04:23Listen to him.
04:24He's already huffing and puffing.
04:38Don't let me win.
04:40He's so full of s***.
04:42He's slamming.
04:46Oh, man.
04:48This does not work now.
04:58Oh, now, see, this is like Chevy Chase and his wife in vacation.
05:05That's the grandmother on the roof.
05:08And they're going to the Grand Canyon.
05:09They're going to go, great, let's go, honey.
05:11They're family.
05:12I know.
05:13That's what I wish I had, man.
05:15You know, instead of you two f***ing morons.
05:17I know.
05:18Oh, man.
05:20Driving down the road reminds me a lot of being with my father.
05:23And there was a lot of happy times that I remember as a kid and just traveling the highways.
05:28I mean, that's been my whole life.
05:30So, Robbie grew up in that environment, and that's really what he knows.
05:34I mean, he is a product of his environment more than anybody.
05:41When I'm putting my leathers on, it's like a gladiator of old times.
05:46I mean, like you're going to go out and fight this lion or whatever.
05:50What compels Robbie to be who he is is that it is in his blood.
05:54As a Knievel, I don't think I have anything to prove anymore.
05:58I think just going out there and proving I can still do the distance to myself is what makes the
06:04fans happy, because I'm not letting them down.
06:17He never answers my calls.
06:19He used to answer my calls a lot, but now he doesn't answer my calls at all.
06:23Nice if the man answered.
06:24Like, the phone just rang, and I looked, and I was hoping it was him, but it wasn't.
06:28Imagine my surprise.
06:30He answers my calls when we're in the middle of negotiating a jumper when we haven't signed it.
06:34But as soon as we sign, and we got the money, he marches to the beat of his own drummer.
06:39Then I have no control. It drives me nuts.
06:43Zook, I expect to call me all the time. That's just his nature.
06:47Call me and bug me and ask me where I'm at, because he sometimes has nothing else to do.
06:53He is his own guy.
06:54He's a blockhead sometimes, and it's maddening and frustrating.
06:58We're calling forwarded to an automatic voice message.
07:02I reached Rob.
07:04It's not available.
07:05How hard is it for Robby to pick up the damn phone and say I'm in Portland?
07:09Hey, Rob, it's Zook. What's happening?
07:11Are you guys on your way to L.A., or what? Where are you?
07:14Give me a call. Give me an update. Thanks.
07:17I rarely leave messages for Robby, because he has caller ID, and he sees my number.
07:21And it's going to be like this.
07:23Rob, Zook, give me a call. Rob, Zook, give me a call.
07:26Rob, Zook, give me a call.
07:27And Robby's going to be like,
07:28Stardy, Stardy, Stardy, Stardy, Stardy, Stardy.
07:30So that's the way it goes.
07:36Let's see.
07:3760 bucks a tank.
07:391,200 miles.
07:4460 times...
07:49200 would be way too much money.
08:17How about Robby breakfast this morning? Hope he likes it. Canna slim fast.
08:23That'll get him going, huh, boy?
08:25Fast and bananas.
08:27Are we out of Washington yet? Look at all this rain.
08:30We're in California now.
08:40Breakfast?
08:41Then he gave it to you, Bert.
08:43Holy s***.
08:44Bacon, eggs, all mixed together.
09:00Well, after following the traffic from Sacramento and all the way to Pasadena,
09:05I'm driving.
09:06All three guys are asleep.
09:08And all of a sudden, the trailer hitch decides to give in.
09:11I was sleeping in the passenger seat.
09:12Robby was driving, and I heard this big crash.
09:16What's going on?
09:17We just lost the trailer.
09:18F***.
09:34I'm driving.
09:35All three guys are asleep.
09:37And I'm in East Pasadena.
09:39And all of a sudden, the trailer hitch decides to give in.
09:43F***.
09:46My jump bikes would be real hard to replace if something happened.
09:50But you're always on a schedule.
09:51And if a trailer comes off and you wreck it, your jump bikes, that just, that screws everything up.
09:56So.
10:02Just like breaking an arm six weeks before the jump, the jump gets canceled, and I don't get paid.
10:08I told Robby that I didn't like the trailer hitch before we left, and he said, oh, it's fine, it's
10:14fine.
10:18And it broke off as we came off the exit, and everybody woke up, and the sparks were flying, and
10:23I'm just coming to, you know, the hotel, and I'm like, relax.
10:27And I drug the trailer right into the parking lot.
10:30I was sleeping in the passenger seat, and Robby was driving, and I heard this big crash.
10:36And the truck's going like this, and I said, what happened?
10:38He goes, don't worry about it.
10:39He said, we just lost the trailer.
11:08The gods are with us, Robby.
11:10They're with me.
11:11I don't know about you.
11:15I'll get a new hitch in the morning.
11:17I'm just happy to be here.
11:19Alive.
11:25I had not heard from those guys in three days, and I finally tracked them down at a Pasadena hotel.
11:34I sent Pete out to get a new hitch that was more heavy duty for the trailer, and we were
11:39back on the road again.
11:40So this is a more heavy duty hitch?
11:42Yeah, this is the...
11:43The night hitch goes right in there.
11:44Where's the other set of the log?
11:4710,000 pounds distributing weight is twice the that you have this set.
11:51And then he showed up with a nice little skull to put in the hitch that lit up, and I
11:56really like that.
11:56Brake lights, Robby, and when you've got your running lights, it lights up.
12:01That's about the only thing Pete did for me the whole trip.
12:07The first day of the dawn jump, we didn't have much to do, so Robby gets in his truck and
12:12says,
12:12let's go to Glendale Harley, and I hop in.
12:14I've got to get some helmets, because there's a helmet on in California, man.
12:26I got lousy directions to the Harley shop, ended up going around and getting lost.
12:31Or Thompson, and what street is that?
12:33Robby decides to not ask directions, so we spent like two and a half, three hours driving around north Los
12:39Angeles.
12:40I go north on five or south?
12:42Zook was navigating, that's why we got lost.
12:45The people that live here don't even know how to give you directions.
12:48I guess it's a guy thing, and Robby takes it to the nth degree.
12:52The 605 and the 210, shouldn't we have ran right into five?
12:56You see 118 anywhere, Pete?
12:58It seems like we passed it a long friggin' time ago.
13:01There it is right there.
13:10A couple head wraps, a couple helmets.
13:14Let's see, let's find what Zucker would wear.
13:18Oh, here's Zucker.
13:21I'm Robby Knievel.
13:23I jump motorcycles.
13:24Really?
13:25Can you throw me a discount?
13:38Today we're building the landing ramp.
13:41It's about a hundred foot long landing ramp.
13:45Got a semi-trailer lifted up, you can see there.
13:47I've got triple, three-quarter inch, 11 fly flywood.
13:50It's just the best flywood made.
13:52We went 12-foot wide ramp this time.
13:54We've got a pretty good distance.
13:56The wind could pick up.
13:58Sometimes Robby jumps on an eight-foot ramp, and that's crazy.
14:01See right here, this fender's got holes in it.
14:06I had to put some steel through here.
14:07We only got one layer of flywood.
14:08If he goes through, I put some steel plates, and we'll shore that up.
14:13The take-off ramp is basically a scaffolding.
14:17It's an aluminum ramp built out of scaffolding.
14:19It's four feet wide, ten feet tall.
14:22Robby's got the record distance on a ten-foot ramp,
14:24and that's what he likes to jump with.
14:29Hey, God.
14:35Did you see that orange cone down there?
14:37Way down there?
14:38Yeah.
14:44He's going to come out, look at it.
14:46I can set this thing up with a laser and have it dead perfect,
14:52and Rob will come out and say, kick it over a little bit.
14:55I'll say, Rob, it's perfectly straight.
14:57Kick it over.
14:59I said, okay.
15:00Kick it over, and Bowman lands right in the middle of the ramp.
15:06This bleachers, these washing booths, and whatnot.
15:09Oh, you're putting all that stuff up?
15:10They're over there.
15:11Yeah.
15:11Jesus.
15:12How much money do they spend on this commercial?
15:15Well.
15:17It's got to be at least a million total, man.
15:19You got most of it.
15:20Whatever it was.
15:21I got a nice chunk anyway.
15:35I got a nice chunk anyway.
16:19I got to think about his life every time he jumps.
16:21And he's easily going to go through my safety deck.
16:24I've seen him go through safety decks before.
16:26He's not going to go through mine.
16:28300,000 pounds of pressure on a tire.
16:31Coming 40 feet in the air, 400 pounds, 90 miles an hour.
16:37I'm almost in tears every time he jumps, even though I usually know he's going to land it.
16:42But when you care about somebody like him, as a good close friend, you just put a little
16:46more effort into making sure everything's perfect and the way he wants it.
16:51We'll want him to land out here on a trailer.
16:54I want him to stand on this 8-foot-by-48-foot trailer.
16:59Just one little burp of the throttle, he can go from there all the way down to the end.
17:03Just by just a little slip that's going to last each feet of the ramp.
17:13He's got a job of doing it.
17:14Everything's got to be perfect when we're doing it.
17:16There's no room for error.
17:38Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.
17:42Hey.
17:44Oh, Jesus.
17:45Bob, Robbie, is that you?
17:48Come on.
17:49Yeah, I stop by Dan Hagerty's every time I go to L.A.
17:52This is my house.
17:54This is where I was hatched, laid, and made love to.
17:57Dan Hagerty's just been a good friend.
17:59He makes me laugh, and I like people that make me laugh.
18:02I think everybody does.
18:03I like to stop by there and steal some of his gypsy rag scarves, because he's got some cool
18:09ones sometimes.
18:10Oh, thanks.
18:11A brand new one.
18:12No one I stole from you, and you stole it back.
18:16What are you talking about?
18:17God, I love you.
18:19He makes me some of my jewelry, you know, the skulls and stuff.
18:22And I says, you know, I don't know if I like them.
18:24He says, well, it'll just remind you of all the friends that have died from alcohol and
18:27drugs.
18:27Well, it's these ice cubes.
18:29It's these ice cubes that are a little buzzy.
18:31I was racing.
18:32I was racing the seminary.
18:33I was racing the seminary.
19:01I've never looked at religion like that before, so I'll give you another outlook at it.
19:05It makes you feel good.
19:12Robbie's life is chaos.
19:13When he's not jumping his motorcycle, he's hanging out with celebrity friends going on
19:16bike rides.
19:17That's his deal.
19:17This week is no different.
19:19It's the love ride.
19:20Love ride is a charity bike ride for a good cause, and I know Robbie will be hobnobbing
19:25with A-list celebrities in Hollywood.
19:36We are backstage at the biggest charity ride in the world, the love ride.
19:44Jay Leno hosts every year.
19:46It jumps like hundreds of thousands of cars, trips walking up the stairs.
19:51There's 20,000, 30,000 bikers, and they all pay like 60 bucks, and it goes to all different
19:56kinds of charity.
19:58Hey, Roman!
20:00Yeah, I want to meet you.
20:02I want to take one picture with you.
20:05We're here at Glendale, California for the love ride, and Robbie and I, we're going to
20:09rock this place as usual.
20:11The love ride is one of the oldest rallies here in California.
20:15It's a big charity run with all the celebrities, so we'll have some fun today.
20:30It's like rally guys come from Oregon, Washington State, I mean, Nevada, wherever they can come
20:37from, it's a huge event, you know?
20:41Well, I've got a hernia.
20:42You've got a bear.
20:44Right.
20:45I've got a hernia.
20:46You're ready.
20:46You're ready.
20:47You're ready for your power.
20:48Yeah, I call you in the morning.
20:50You'll be fine.
20:51I got her.
20:51You know what?
20:52I noticed one thing about Robbie.
20:53See, he's a celebrity in his own way, you know, motorcycle and everything, maybe a little
20:57bit of different category than a lot of these people are like, mostly movies or into music.
21:03I wonder why you and Roman get along so good.
21:04You're out hot to trot, huh?
21:06Looking for the babes at every Harley event.
21:10Well, why not?
21:11We're not gay.
21:12Well.
21:17Robbie always shows a lot of respect and tells me all the time how he feels honored
21:23and flattered when they come up to him or shake his hand and recognize him.
21:27Robbie Knievel, everybody.
21:29Robbie Knievel.
21:30Lorenzo!
21:32My stuntman!
21:36I just do the speeches now.
21:38He gets 10%.
21:39He's happy.
21:39And he enjoys it, I think, just like anybody else.
21:43You get to know a new celebrity or movie star, whatever.
21:46He's not starstruck, but he really appreciates that.
21:49He's, uh, Robbie's right down to earth about that.
21:51So he really likes it.
21:53Wait a minute.
21:54You know, Grizzly just said he's been here 18 times.
21:57It means he made love 18 times in his life, and that's about it.
22:00But that's okay.
22:01I'm working out more.
22:02You make you love it.
22:03I'm a learner.
22:03I love it, right?
22:04I love you.
22:06You stay tuned.
22:28Oh, it's almost noon, man.
22:30The second day of ramp building, nothing seemed to be going right.
22:34Oh, he drove across the United States.
22:36Couldn't we buy some f***ing bolts?
22:37This guy's making a f***ing living out of painting this f***ing bolt.
22:40Why do we need to fly one on the feet?
22:42Father Christ.
22:44As usual, I was there early, and our crew decided to show up a little bit late that day.
22:50From now on, I'm going to have my own rig here.
22:53I'm not working on anybody any longer.
22:55Because you know what?
22:55It makes me look like a f***.
23:00I might be a f***, but Christ.
23:03I'd like to have a little control.
23:08I'm waiting for the boys to get here.
23:10I'm going to get that takeoff ramp set up.
23:12They're probably weenie-hugging right now.
23:15They're probably kissing in the room.
23:16I don't know what the hell they're doing.
23:18I need to get to work.
23:20They got the tools.
23:24I'm looking at Dawn shirts to see if I actually really want to have our crew wear these.
23:32No.
23:34Yeah, same place right here.
23:37Todd is used to having complete control in running the performance area and setting up the ramps.
23:42But in this case, he's sort of reporting up to the commercial production team
23:46and the guys that are shooting the commercials.
23:48And he's not used to it.
23:49While they're more interested in a look, I know Todd's more interested in safety.
23:53And so that's going to come to a head.
23:58Where's David at?
24:00You guys are going to stage this once.
24:02You're going to put all this in there to see how it looks.
24:04Is that right?
24:04No.
24:09He told me that they're having this group of the commercial people, the promoters and the art directors to come
24:14out.
24:14And they're going to put all the boxes in there to see how it looks.
24:19And then they're going to take them out.
24:21Well, now he's telling me they didn't say that.
24:22We're going to wait until you're done.
24:25And then we're going to install it for good.
24:27Oh, so I can set that up at the shortest?
24:30Oh, shit.
24:31We're waiting for you.
24:33So I got my 2,000-pound ramp set 50 feet back.
24:37So now I'm going to slide it all forward.
24:39It's just an extra move.
24:43But then he's trying to make me look like an idiot.
24:52I've got the plywood striped, the takeoff stripe for Robbie, you know.
24:58He gets perfectly lined up on that thing.
25:01And they want to put the logo where the stripes are, and I told them they can't do it.
25:04Well, yesterday when I spoke to him, he said he can work.
25:07He can put the logo within the stripes, and he's fine with that.
25:11For Robbie.
25:12I don't even give a f*** if we put them on here.
25:16It's an art thing.
25:17So they can't just paint it and have me bolt it on there.
25:20They've got to see it.
25:23They can't see it on paper.
25:24They have to see it.
25:26You know, we're jumping a motorcycle onto a ramp.
25:28We've done it 100 times, but now we've got to have the logo on there so it looks good.
25:32You know, I'm just getting a little irritated.
25:35They're just going to have to build their walls on the ground and paint them,
25:38and then stick them up there and route her off the top of them after we're done.
25:56They're just going to have to be a little bit.
25:58They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:00They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:03They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:04They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:04They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:04They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:04They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:04They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:05They're just going to have to be a little bit.
26:09They're just going to be a little bit.
26:15When Robbie does the practice jumps, it's normally half the distance exactly, and we
26:21move the take-off ramp up to half the distance of the final jump.
26:36The red carpet.
26:40The layout for the Don Dish commercial couldn't have been better.
26:43I had a drag strip to play on.
26:49I chased the cops around the racetrack on their cop bikes.
26:54I had plenty of room to do my jump, and I had this huge facility to play around with.
27:24I do practice jumps half the distance, always, to get the field or take-off ramp, just to
27:29get the field, because you do not get paid for practice, so there's no sense in doing
27:34the actual jump unless you're getting paid for it.
27:41So I get to feel the bike, feel the take-off ramp, the sound of the motor, I mean the
27:46jetting,
27:46the elevation, the air pressure in the tires, how they are on the pavement or the dirt, or
27:51wherever I'm at.
27:52Whoa!
27:55I feel good!
27:57His confidence level gets so high that, you know, I know he's gonna make it before I
28:01ever jump, because I can see it in his eyes.
28:07The night before that particular jump, I had a lot of friends in town that I hadn't seen
28:11in a long time and hadn't done a jump in L.A. in a long time, so...
28:14Did everybody have a third crash?
28:15Yeah, we kind of stayed up late, shot the crap.
28:19We're in trouble, we're in trouble!
28:22Everybody was just getting out of it, having a good time, and it was just a fun night.
28:27I am roaming!
28:28I am drunk!
28:29I'm gonna go out and risk it all tomorrow, and I know what I gotta do, and it's pretty
28:34much having the guts to pull the trigger.
28:37He's alive, I can tell very technically. His chest is moving.
28:42The more sleep you get, the easier it is definitely, but sometimes I just can't sleep.
28:49Mr. Canigo, is this you?
28:51Yes, it is.
28:53Are you trying to prank call over here?
28:56Pardon?
28:57Are you trying to prank call the front desk?
28:59No, I just wondered if you'd accept the collect call if I was in the county jail.
29:04Of course we would.
29:05Do you guys have any more champagne down there?
29:07No, the bar's all locked up.
29:09Okay.
29:12Hello?
29:13Robbie?
29:14Yeah?
29:14Hey, do you have a bottle of champagne?
29:17Uh-uh.
29:18What do you got?
29:19Sleeping.
29:20Sleeping?
29:21Yeah.
29:22Well, that's not nothing to have.
29:25Hello?
29:26Hey, J.D.
29:27Yes?
29:28Got any champagne or Arma Rula?
29:31Uh-uh.
29:31I never got any of that stuff.
29:33Don't you have a cooler full of beer?
29:35Yeah, there's some beer in here.
29:37All right, I'll be over in a second.
29:39Okay.
29:40Come on over.
29:42Here we go.
29:44Here we go.
29:46Here we go.
29:48Here we go.
29:49Here we go.
29:49Here we go.
29:50It's so nice to have the cameras off me now and talk to myself.
29:54And my head has turned around.
29:56I said to myself, I'm going for another 10 years.
30:00And you can always say that until you bounce off the pavement again.
30:05But I love it.
30:07I mean, the adrenaline flying through the air.
30:10It's awesome.
30:12So awesome.
30:13Pete!
30:17What are you doing?
30:19Sleeping.
30:20You're dark.
30:212,000.
30:22Huh?
30:23What are you guys doing?
30:24Going to get some sleep for her?
30:27Do I need some?
30:29I don't know.
30:29I do my job.
30:31I'm up every day.
30:32I make everything work.
30:34Executive producer, Robbie Knievel.
30:37Producer, Robbie Knievel.
30:38Director, Robbie Knievel.
30:40Stuntman, Robbie Knievel.
30:41Jerry Knievel.
30:42Star, Robbie Knievel.
30:43I'll tell you what.
30:44I'll give you the money you're supposed to get.
30:46You can say Toy Bowl 10 times real fast.
30:49I'd say Gooey Duck fast, but not...
30:52Okay.
30:52Let's hear it.
30:53No.
30:54Go on to bed.
30:55Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl, Toy Bowl.
31:00See ya, Pete.
31:03My most favorite movie is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
31:08Now, that's freedom.
31:10I'm all about freedom.
31:12Let's rob a bank and spend the money and travel.
31:16And a beautiful girl like Catherine Ross.
31:19Oh.
31:20Hello.
31:22Hello.
31:25Hello.
31:25Hello.
31:30Hello.
31:31Hello.
31:33I hate these stupid...
31:35Hello.
31:36I hate these stupid...
31:39Hello.
31:42Today, doing wheelies almost wiped out because I couldn't stop being an idiot and pushing
31:49it too far.
31:51And you don't get paid for practice, so you gotta be careful because if you break an arm, you're
31:55out.
31:56You know, half a million, million.
31:58I've been doing this so long.
32:02I've made up my mind that, why worry?
32:07I have lots of confidence.
32:10And yeah, I have worries.
32:12I could die, but my belief when I die, if it's my time to go, I'll just get somewhere
32:19quicker.
32:20Like my dad said, that we're all going someday and I'll wait for you.
32:39I'm ready, man.
32:41Did you get some sleep?
32:42Yeah.
32:43I have.
32:43No?
32:45We'll go out to the gym, sir.
32:47Yeah.
32:47I know.
32:49Yeah, he needs to rot.
32:50Come on.
32:51Come on, handsome.
32:53Doesn't think we can rush you or anything.
32:54Between the love ride, the press and media commitments that we had, the commercial production,
32:59and being in Southern California, Rob was worn out and at the end of his rope by the
33:04time it came to jump day.
33:05Hey, if I'm late, I really don't give a fat .
33:08Nobody told me about this.
33:10You should have known about it.
33:12First of all, because you put the deal together.
33:14Zook calls me at 630.
33:16You've got a live in 805.
33:19So I could really give a less.
33:23I ain't stressing over it anymore.
33:25.
33:26He was pissed.
33:28Hey, Rob.
33:29You want me to call in a bomb threat?
33:31.
33:33Cancel the whole deal?
33:35.
33:35Now, watch.
33:36There probably wouldn't even be a live shot.
33:37Zook probably got me out of bed for nothing.
33:40See a satellite anywhere?
33:41.
33:44I don't.
33:45Why do you guys get me out of bed?
33:47Zook tells me you got a live shot.
33:49Get your ass out of bed.
33:50I talked to Jeff, the producer.
33:52I want to sleep for an extra hour.
33:53I drive my ass off out here, almost getting a wreck.
33:56And there's no f***ing live shot.
33:58I'm going to my motor home to go to sleep.
34:00Is she full of s*** or what?
34:02Rob was pissed the morning of the jump
34:04because they pressed us hard to get there early
34:06for a media commitment,
34:07and the media commitment wasn't there.
34:10Well, I could have slept.
34:12Whatever.
34:13It's only my life.
34:14What the f***?
34:15.
34:24We're here because we want to show consumers
34:27how much we can wash with one bottle of Dawn.
34:31And we thought it was so many dishes
34:33that it would even be a challenge for Rob Knievel.
34:35So we challenged him to jump over the dishes.
34:37And action.
34:41It's a lot of dishes.
34:42It's a long distance.
34:43So we'll see if he's up to the challenge.
34:45We'll see who wins, Robby or Dawn.
34:58In addition to jumping his bike over 10,000 plates,
35:01Robby's got to deal with producers, directors, crew, the client
35:06to get this commercial shot as well.
35:08So I know that there's a lot of pressure on him.
35:11When I got there and I was so tired
35:13and I started listening to people,
35:15I was like, I just want to get away and get a nap.
35:17I don't care if it's a half hour,
35:19just like to refresh my mind.
35:22So I asked the directors to let me just please take a nap.
35:25Can they do something else?
35:27Do you guys have anything else you could do?
35:29Yes, we do.
35:30For an hour?
35:31And then we could do that?
35:32Yes, yes.
35:34I got plenty of s*** to do.
35:35I came over for you.
35:36Why don't you do your s*** and let me take a nap,
35:39and then I'll be fresh for the rest of the day.
35:42What time should we expect to come back and work with you then?
35:46I won't hold you to the exact minute,
35:48but just give me an idea of what we're talking about.
35:5011.30?
35:5111.30 is a little late for our 12.30.
35:56Whenever in my mind I feel mentally prepared,
35:59that's when I'm going to go out and jump.
36:01And I knew they would get the jump
36:03and they would get everything they needed.
36:05Do they want him to jump at 12.30?
36:06No, he won't do it.
36:09Probably more like 1.30.
36:11I'm not sure.
36:11Whenever he's ready.
36:12He's got to be ready.
36:13He's got to get psyched up, you know.
36:15I ain't even worried about the jump.
36:16I've pissed at all the friggin' PR people and everybody else.
36:20As usual, the jump's easy.
36:22I've got to take a nap.
36:24I've got a jump to do.
36:26Good night.
36:26Good night.
36:29Well, he's supposed to jump at 12.30.
36:31It's now 11.50.
36:36And he hasn't changed in his letters.
36:38And he's got to do an interview at ESPN.
36:40So I imagine that we're going to be behind a lot.
36:46Sorry about it again.
36:47Zook's freaking on you.
36:49Who?
36:49Zook.
36:50He's a freak.
36:51Tell him I'll be out there at 9 noon.
36:53Okay.
36:54Have their guns loaded.
36:56All right.
36:56What are you going to do?
36:57Tell him to move his ass when he's going to risk his life?
37:21Well, he's supposed to jump at 12.30.
37:23It's now 11.50.
37:28And he hasn't changed in his letters.
37:30And he's got to do an interview at ESPN.
37:33So I imagine that we're going to be behind a lot.
37:40Sorry about it again.
37:41Tell him I'll be out there at 9 noon.
37:43Okay.
37:44Have their guns loaded.
37:46All right.
37:47All right.
37:48Zook's freaking on you.
37:49Who?
37:50Zook.
37:50He's a freak.
37:52I know.
37:54I'm good.
37:54Let them freak.
37:55Right?
37:57No, I'm fine.
37:59He won't come in here.
38:01JD, stay right here.
38:02They're coming over here.
38:03They're going to yell at me.
38:04Stay right here.
38:05What are you going to do?
38:06Tell him to move his ass when he's going to risk his life?
38:09No, I do want the wheelie to sink by.
38:18There's one that proceeds to this.
38:19Yeah.
38:24When should I tell these guys you'll be out?
38:26Because they've been asking me every two minutes.
38:281.15?
38:30Yeah.
38:311.15, 1.20.
38:33Hey, how you doing?
38:35How are you doing?
38:38How are you doing?
38:38How are you doing?
38:39How are you doing, girl?
38:41I got the jump bike over there on the stage waiting for the guy that's going to dress up in
38:45the leather can actually ride it, which is you.
38:46Okay.
39:04I'll tell you what I was planning on doing is I was going to have you ride around your bike,
39:07come in here.
39:09This would be post-jump.
39:10Do all the jump thing now.
39:12If you want.
39:13I'd love to get an ending done before you jump.
39:15Why do I think Don would film me into the commercial before making it?
39:20Obviously because they thought I was going to die on the jump.
39:22I'd like to see you again.
39:24We want you back.
39:25Lift up your helmet and start talking to Chad.
39:30All right.
39:30We'll just do a little post-jump interview.
39:31Real pleasure.
39:31Hi, Chad.
39:32I'm a big fan.
39:33I'm glad to be working with you.
39:33I'm a big fan of yours.
39:35Thank you, sir.
39:37We jumped over 10,000.
39:39We jumped over 10,000.
39:40We jumped over 10,000.
39:41We jumped over 10,000.
39:56I'm really .
39:56We're moving over to the jump, folks.
39:59Hey, bud.
40:00Real imperative that nobody steps out because, I mean, he's flying through here at 85 miles
40:05an hour, man.
40:09$20 pot.
40:11Closest to where he lands.
40:13$20 pot.
40:14Closest to the mark if you guys are in.
40:15I came up with this bright idea of everybody writing their name down on the ramp where they
40:20thought Robbie was going to land.
40:21Whoever's the closest gets the whole pot.
40:33How's everybody?
40:35How's everybody?
40:41How you doing, buddy?
40:43I met them earlier.
40:44You doing all right?
40:48You doing all right?
40:51Taking a breath, man.
40:53We're good to go.
40:54All right.
41:06Oh, I'm just stressed because I, we normally don't, these guys, they, they messed up my
41:11takeoff ramp, they got it crooked and they moved it and it's just slippery.
41:15I think it's like they washed it or did something to it.
41:20I hope he does all right.
41:21The wind's kind of picking up, you see that?
41:27Check out the flags.
41:29I hope it's not too windy.
41:33A lot of things got to go right for Robbie.
41:35If one of the elements go wrong, he could be hurt bad.
41:39Even though he's jumped long distance before, he's got to have everything on his side.
41:43I got to move that anyway when I jump.
41:45Why don't you tell me, get the out of there, let's go man.
41:50And we are going to move.
41:53Robbie, get the ball.
41:55Go!
41:57Go!
42:00Go!
42:03Go!
42:05Go!
42:06Go!
42:07Go!

42:15Go!
42:23You're left!
42:28Go!
42:30Go!
42:31Go!
42:34Go!
42:35Go!
42:36Go!

43:38the best part of the jump is when i mean it's everything but when it's over you would think
43:45that would be the best part for me but it's not your adrenaline's way high and then you go to
43:51this
43:51huge road because you're up on stage and then you're off

44:12where i will land and when i walk up on the landing ramp to do my speech i see these
44:17bets everywhere
44:18where i'm at it's making one it's always easy to tell humans when i land because it's whoever's name
44:25is closest to the black mark for my rear tire when i hit what was going through your mind when
44:30you
44:30were going over what was going through your mind i didn't go fast enough when everybody thinks you've
