00:26The main challenges facing Colombia are dealing with the complexity of its territories,
00:32That is, to design relevant methodologies that allow us to carry out appropriate environmental management
00:38because for many years we have been prey to great conceptual inaccuracies
00:43which have led us to transfer erroneous disciplinary practices to the territories.
00:48So the idea is to be able to delve deeper into the studies of what really causes these environmental conflicts
00:54in order to address them in a comprehensive and relevant manner.
00:57The Master's program in Environmental Impact Assessment and Management aims to provide answers through comprehensive research.
01:04so that the depths required by environmental studies can be addressed.
01:10such as management plans, environmental impact studies, and strategic environmental assessments
01:15that take into account the impacts on ecological functions, on ecosystem resilience
01:20and on the historical-temporal dynamics of the communities.
01:24Well, the projects that future master's students will develop are related to research,
01:30Comprehensive research. It's a research-based master's degree, not a specialized one.
01:34And these investigations can be deployed within three emphases.
01:39One is given to multicausal and multidimensional analysis for the understanding of environmental conflicts.
01:44The other line of emphasis is given to environmental indicators.
01:48And a third area of emphasis for these research projects is precisely the designs
01:53of the methodologies for assessing and managing environmental impact.
01:57The profiles of professionals that we can receive in the master's program are highly varied.
02:02We require that they be people who have a strong interest in addressing the deterioration of nature.
02:07Clearly, environmental engineers, industrial engineers, bioengineers, why not lawyers?
02:13Lawyers have specialized for many years within the national territory
02:16in situations that are geared towards environmental protection.
02:21So, basically, the only thing that interests us about these types of professionals
02:24is that their main interest is to address this ecosystem deterioration
02:29and that they want to delve deeper into those investigations
02:32to understand what causes environmental conflicts.
