00:43A life sentence cut off from family, cut off from freedom, cut off from the outside world
00:50is fitting punishment for the harm that El Mayo has caused to countless victims.
00:57During El Mayo's control of the cartel, tens of thousands of parents lost children to addiction,
01:05overdose and drug-related violence.
01:08I hope that El Mayo's life sentence brings some small measure of comfort to those families
01:15who have suffered so much pain.
01:17The message today is clear.
01:21Drug dealing is a dead end.
01:25Joaquim Guzman Lopez, El Chapo's son, when he pled guilty, allocuted and stated that he
01:35orchestrated the kidnapping of El Mayo and he also stated that he was hoping to gain favor
01:43from the United States government for having done so.
01:46The United States made perfectly clear that we do not condone kidnapping and that he would
01:52receive no credit for anything that he did along those lines.
01:58But as Administrator Cole said, this is not the end of the story.
02:02This administration under President Trump's leadership and this Department of Justice under
02:07the leadership of Acting Attorney General Blanche are just getting warmed up.
02:12Over the last year or so, 90-plus cartel leaders have been extradited to the United States.
02:20They are here now to face justice at the hand of American judges, American prosecutors and
02:26American juries.
