00:00Hello, Foreign Secretary. Congratulations. You take on a difficult task with a tricky, to put it mildly, tricky international backdrop.
00:09It's the honour of my life to have been asked by the Prime Minister to be the Foreign Secretary of
00:14our country.
00:15My parents came here as Jewish refugees fleeing from the Nazis, and for them Britain provided sanctuary and a beacon
00:23of hope in the fight against fascism.
00:26At a time when values of democracy, the rule of law and freedom are under threat as never before, I
00:33will carry that spirit, their spirit, into my work as Foreign Secretary, and now I'm going to go and get
00:39on with the task.
00:39And the commitment to Ukraine remains as steadfast as ever, does it, Foreign Secretary?
