Thomas Tuchel hopes that with time his England players can be "proud" of a third place finish.
Transcript
00:00It's the first medal since 60 years, the first World Cup on foreign soil,
00:04so I hope that the players can be proud on that in some time.
00:07We are fiercely competitive, so we almost don't allow ourselves to be proud on a third place,
00:14because 18 months ago we set the highest goal, we set us the highest dream to chase.
00:20We were very, very ambitious with our dream to make it to the final and win the World Cup,
00:25so it's very, very painful if you miss out. The pain will stay for a while,
00:29like I said yesterday, but will go away, the scar will stay.
00:33This is how it is in high-level sport. Whatever happened in these 30 minutes against Argentina,
00:39or maybe 45 minutes in the second half against Argentina, where we became too passive,
00:43whatever happens, why it happened, whatever happened in the last 10 minutes, we were close.
00:48It's my job to take decisions. I have to live with this. It's very painful for me,
00:52because I did it in good faith and I did it with a clear plan and a clear idea behind
00:57it.
00:57It didn't work out, so I take the blame and, of course, the responsibility.
01:03We decided to take the blame to take the blame so that we had to run out,
01:03and we did it right back to the possibility.
