00:00I was more critically judged, but the queens in general were more critically judged than on a lot
00:07of our original seasons. Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're looking at Drag Race winners who
00:12didn't let becoming America's next drag superstar stop them from speaking their mind. They included
00:17Raven and Jujubee to put them back in front of the fans to make me be forgotten. Sasha Velour,
00:24her iconic rose petal reveal will live on in Drag Race herstory.
00:35However, Season 9's Sasha Velour joined scores of other fans and contestants protesting
00:41RuPaul's remarks about transgender drag queens not being allowed to compete on the show.
00:45Tweeting in 2018, Sasha offered unqualified and direct support of the trans community
00:50and the legitimacy of trans drag queens.
00:52It's really a tragedy. There's a lot of gender fear in Russia.
00:57I feel for her. When I was living in Russia, I had to disguise myself. I couldn't be Sasha Velour.
01:03Sasha's statement of support was a direct response to the controversy. In fact,
01:07she was clear that Drag Race itself is not the be-all, end-all of drag as an art form.
01:12RuPaul has since reversed her position on the matter,
01:15with more openly trans contestants competing in years since.
01:18I think I'll bring a different angle to this competition.
01:21I am a transgendered man. So, born a girl, transition to a guy, dressed like a girl for money.
01:30Very that.
01:31Monet X Change.
01:42The all-winners All-Star season was as much a victory run for eight of the show's champions
01:47as it was a competition in its own right. However, some fans called foul when the final showdown
01:53between finalists Monet X Change and Jinx Monsoon was not the deciding factor.
02:07Jinx Monsoon was declared the queen of all queens. Monet insists that she quote
02:12dog-walked Jinx in the swish-swish lip-sync.
02:15That is one of my favorite and proudest lip-syncing moments, not on Drag Race, in my career.
02:21Really?
02:22In my career. I bodied that lip-sync. No one can tell me different.
02:26While she knew that moments get cut for story reasons, she was also not shy about expressing
02:31her belief the show removed her best bits to make the finish look closer than it was.
02:35I am unbelievably proud of that lip-sync. It's one of my... I just want to see the uncut
02:40footage just to watch myself have a great time on stage. So, you know, it is what it is now.
02:48Aquaria.
02:49Sorry to keep you waiting.
02:50Five New York girls!
02:52Aquaria is the name on everyone's lips in New York City. I can tell that every girl in
02:56the room knows exactly who this bitch is.
02:58Oh my God!
02:59And, uh, they should.
03:01Season 10 winner Aquaria has been notably vocal of the Drag Race fandom since her win,
03:05speaking about the abusive, toxic, and often racist online behavior directed at many queens
03:10of color. However, she has also made some pointed remarks about the show itself.
03:14After hosting the season 11 cast reveal, Aquaria spoke against the format of the livestream.
03:19But are you prepared to, uh, serve it up and make them eat it?
03:25I mean, the only baking I do is my makeup, so...
03:28Well, that's not the only baking I do, so let's see how you do!
03:33Instead of welcoming the new cast and celebrating their art, co-hosts Aquaria and figure skater
03:38Adam Rippon were tasked with putting the new cast through a series of embarrassing tasks.
03:41Hey!
03:42Get that stomach! Get that stomach!
03:43Oh, oh, oh, a belly dancer!
03:45Well, it's just fat, honey.
03:46Okay.
03:47But you know what? It makes the coins. It gets with the coins.
03:50Aquaria spoke up immediately in hastily deleted tweets, decrying the entire farce of reveal.
03:56Evie Oddly
03:56My time competing on Drag Race gave me something more important than any check could ever write,
04:02so I feel it's my duty to pass it on to you. The gift of failure.
04:08After participating in the show's All Winners All-Stars season, the show's 11th winner,
04:13Evie Oddly, shared her displeasure at her Drag Race experience.
04:16She didn't mince words, either. In a string of tweets from 2023, she accused the producers of
04:21being, quote, greedy, quote, calculating, and, quote, capitalist culture thieves.
04:26Even though the judges didn't seem to give a s***, I got all the positive feedback and, like,
04:35reinforcement I was looking for from the people who were my competitors, so I got that.
04:41She has also spoken at length about how the show portrayed her experience with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
04:46Her criticisms of the show have continued, as she's explained her run-ins with racist factions
04:51of the fandom and the way Drag Race commodifies their talents at the expense of their humanity.
04:56It has been very difficult because with Ehlers-Danlos, I'm feeling myself, like, actively losing skills
05:06and, like, it's getting hard to even just stand up in heels.
05:12King Tyra, Tyra Sanchez.
05:14Um, I don't think that you're seeing that Tyra is a complete b***h.
05:19That was Frank.
05:21She has this diva attitude, like, I am America's sweetheart, but she's not.
05:27Category is America's Next Drag Superstar and not America's Next Top Best Friend.
05:32No one lived up to that difference more than season two champion King Tyra.
05:36In the years since, fans of the show and even judge Michelle Visage questioned Tyra's deservingness.
05:42Michelle got hired season three, and on her press tour, at every stop, she made sure to
05:48say that she didn't think that I deserved to win, and that's where The Raven Was Robbed
05:51was created.
05:52Meanwhile, he has since renounced the show, the name Tyra Sanchez, and the fandom, likening
05:58the whole experience to a toxic relationship.
06:00More than that, his often abrasive, if not downright hostile response to all things Drag Race related
06:05has only seen him and the fans double down on mutual hatred.
06:08I just said, don't go to DragCon, and I didn't mean it as in, oh, fair warning, something
06:14shoots you or kill you.
06:15No, fair warning, these people are racist, don't go there, don't get involved with them,
06:20I'm telling you from first-hand experience.
06:22That was my warning, that's all I did.
06:24As recently as January 2026, Tyra was threatening to sue RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and production
06:30company World of Wonder.
06:32Did these former winners make some points?
