00:00All right, so we wanted to get into this cbssports.com article
00:03that ranks the triplet units on offense for all 32 NFL teams,
00:09meaning the quarterback, running back, wide receiver combos
00:14for each team in the NFL.
00:16All right.
00:16I'm going to give you the highest-ranked team.
00:18I'm going to give you the lowest-ranked team,
00:20and I want you guys to guess where the commanders fall in between.
00:24They have the Cincinnati Bengals ranked number one overall
00:28with their combo of Joe Burrow, Chase Brown, and Jamar Chase at wideout.
00:34They reclaimed the top spot in the rankings last year,
00:37received seven of the nine first-place votes this season.
00:41Where'd the Lions finish?
00:42The Lions are at number three.
00:45Yeah, the Lions popped for me just off the top of my head
00:48with Goff, Gibbs, and then Amon Ra.
00:51So your top three are the Lions at three, the Rams at two,
00:54with Stafford, Kyron Williams, and Pukunakua,
00:56and the Bengals at one.
00:58So that's your top end.
01:00All right.
01:00So now we're going to go all the way to the bottom.
01:02We're going to go to the bottom feeder.
01:04They have the Cleveland Browns at number 32.
01:06Yeah, I mean, just start thinking of the worst quarterback situations
01:08in the league.
01:09And they have Shador Sanders listed at quarterback,
01:12Quinshawn Judkins, and Harold Fannin,
01:14who's not even a wide receiver.
01:16Tight end.
01:16He's a tight end.
01:17But he had a really good rookie campaign.
01:18Sure.
01:19So they have the Browns.
01:20That's a brutal triplet.
01:21They have the Browns at 32.
01:22Where do you guys feel the Commanders are ranked on this list?
01:27Well, we don't even know who is our top running back.
01:29Do they have Bill is our top running back?
01:32They have Bill listed as the top running back option.
01:36My guess was exercise.
01:38My guess was 22nd.
01:39Okay.
01:40You're in at 22.
01:41EB, what is your guess?
01:42It's definitely not a top half combination.
01:43For the Commanders' triplets unit of Jaden Daniels, Bill,
01:48a.k.a.
01:49Ja'Cory Krosky-Berritt, and Terry McClure.
01:51And at wideout.
01:51Well, we don't have a running back that will generate much respect.
01:54We know everybody has Jaden like in that 15 range these days.
01:58And Terry is probably not that dissimilar from that.
02:02I don't know.
02:0326?
02:04You guys split the difference with your guesses.
02:06JP's at 22.
02:07You're at 26.
02:09They have the Commanders at number 24.
02:11Okay.
02:12And here's the write-up.
02:12They say the Commanders are the second biggest dropper from year to year,
02:17falling 12 spots after Jaden Daniels suffered through injuries and
02:20ineffectiveness.
02:21The lack of a true threat at running back likely also contributes here,
02:25as does the fact that McLaurin wasn't nearly as effective as he was in
02:282024 when he was actually on the field.
02:31Washington has a new O.C. in David Blau,
02:34and we'll see if he can put these guys in a better position to succeed
02:38than they were under Cliff Kingsbury.
02:41Hard to argue.
02:43Yeah.
02:43I mean,
02:43they didn't win many games last year.
02:45They have the Commanders sandwiched in between the Raiders at 25 and the New Orleans Saints at 23.
02:52But they make a mention.
02:54It's a significant drop because the year before,
02:56when Jaden was at the peak of his powers and Terry McLaurin was completely good to go,
03:03they were a much better offense.
03:06They were, in fact, one of the best offenses in the league.
03:08They were ranked 12 last year.
03:09They were 12, yeah.
03:10The only thing that held them back was the running back position then because you had a top receiver,
03:16you had a top quarterback, the running back held them back.
03:19But after last year, it's hard to argue that they're not in the bottom third of the league.
03:23Yeah.
03:23It doesn't matter.
03:25But I feel like they've got to perform.
03:28If Jaden is healthy, I think Bill in year two, especially if he worked on receiving the ball out of
03:35the backfield,
03:36I know Rashad White's going to do a big chunk of that.
03:39I think Merritt could be a 1,000-plus yard rusher.
03:42He showed that he's capable of that as a rookie.
03:44Sure.
03:45And Terry McLaurin, if you believe David Blau saying he's going to get 10 targets per game,
03:51he should have a huge year if he's healthy.
03:54Right.
03:54If he gets that sort of attention in the offense and that sort of star treatment,
03:59like you're going to get 10 balls thrown to you per game, he should have a really big year.
04:03I wonder, and maybe Antonio Williams will develop in this guy,
04:08I wonder if they have a plan for who's going to be the No. 1 receiver once Terry moves on.
04:14I mean, some people think this could be Terry's last season here in Washington.
04:18I know he's under contract for two more seasons.
04:20Yeah.
04:22I mean, I'm sure they have.
04:23Is Antonio Williams a future No. 1 receiver?
04:26I don't know.
04:27You have to see what happens.
04:28I know that when they drafted him, Adam Peters described him as a guy that could play all the spots.
04:33He didn't describe him as a slot receiver.
04:35Or maybe they believe Terry's good to go for another contract beyond this one.
04:39Well, they would have to restructure.
04:41They've spent a lot of recent draft capital at wideout.
04:46Now, not the highest, but I mean, they've spent multiple third-round picks on wideouts
04:49in Williams and McCaffrey, a fourth-round pick on Jalen Lane.
04:54They're trying to address that position as best they can.
04:58Yeah, but when you're drafting guys in the third round and the fourth round,
05:01you're not expecting those guys.
05:03As I know, Terry McLaurin was drafted in the third round.
05:07You're not expecting those guys to be No. 1 guys.
05:11You're not expecting it to happen now.
05:12It's great if it does happen.
05:14Sure.
05:14If you do get that Terry McLaurin explosion.
05:17Look, kind of the point of all of this, I feel like, is just to point out to people
05:21that Washington, from a position-by-position standpoint,
05:25doesn't rank that highly relative to the rest of the league.
05:28And I can't argue it, but I do think their quarterback, when healthy, is one of the best
05:33in the league, and that makes them relevant, and that gives them the potential to be a playoff
05:40contender, and then who knows what can happen.
05:42It's all based on, we said it last year, and it's still true, and it's true for most teams.
05:47It's all based on your quarterback.
05:48And we have, I think, when healthy, an elite one.
05:52I feel like that there are a few spots too low, like on this list, they have the Giants
05:56at 22, so two spots higher, with a trio of Jackson Dart, Cam Scadaboo, and Malik Neighbors.
06:04Two of those guys are pretty banged up.
06:05I mean, Malik Neighbors, there's a question as to whether he'll be ready for week one,
06:08coming off of a knee injury from last year.
06:10Scadaboo had a really bad injury, and there are huge question marks as to whether Jackson
06:15Dart can stay healthy, kind of like people are questioning if Jaden can stay healthy
06:20throughout the season after last year.
06:22There are guys that evaluate, like, gaits, and the way you walk, the way you plant your
06:28feet, et cetera, that they totally goof on Jackson Dart, that he's a big disaster waiting
06:34to happen, the way he kind of walks and plants his feet, and all of that, the way everything's
06:39all aligned.
06:40So that's something to keep an eye on for.
06:43One of my big takeaways, though, as we talk about these lists during the offseason, is,
06:49and they're trying to do this, it takes time to do this, is they don't have enough front
06:55end talent.
06:55Right.
06:56You know, when you talk about these top 10 lists, Laramie Tunsil was the only guy at
07:01his position to make the top 10.
07:03Yeah, but you acknowledge Jaden is capable, and McLaurin, if he plays out of his mind,
07:07is capable.
07:08I'd say top 10.
07:09Right, but he'd be in the bottom tier of the top 10.
07:11Sure.
07:11So they need to, either through acquisitions or draft, get more guys who are premier players.
07:18I mean, that's what they hope Sonny Stiles will become.
07:20I think Chig could be in that discussion.
07:23If they utilize them the way we envision, in a perfect world, I think Chig could be on
07:29the outside of that top 10, too.
07:31Yeah, David Blau's offenses that he pulls from, what he's been exposed to, they use tight
07:37ends a lot, so there's going to be a huge opportunity for Chig, and I kind of say this
07:42laughing, Ben Sinnott, like, this is the time for Ben Sinnott to step forward.
07:46Oh, it's now or never for Chig.
07:47Like, you got, he's got to make an impact.
07:48I'm not saying he's going to have as many catches as Chig, but he should have 25 or 30
07:55catches in this offense.
07:56Or more.
07:57Did you watch any of the videos, like, Deami's one of the guys that's putting out this stuff,
08:01like, when they're out doing their workouts or whatever in LA, and, you know, he's putting
08:04it out on his YouTube, et cetera, some guys, you can see in some of the comments, guys
08:10are getting fired up watching just, even, like, Luke McCaffrey run some of these routes.
08:13Like, you know, maybe Luke is developing into something.
08:15I mean, there's no defense there.
08:17Yeah, but it's just the route running.
08:18Yeah.
08:19That sort of thing.
08:19I mean, he's had flashes.
08:20I thought Jalen Lane had some flashes.
08:22Yeah.
08:23No flashes.
08:23It's a matter of doing it consistently and becoming a real threat.
08:27But the interesting thing about those triplets, and maybe you can go deeper beyond three,
08:32is those three teams are all really good contenders.
08:37Well, I mean, the top five, they've got Dallas at five with Dak, Javante Williams, and CeeDee
08:42Lamb.
08:42That's out of the county, George Pickens.
08:44What he did last year is the number two wide out there.
08:46And they have the Ravens at number four with Lamar, Derrick Henry, and Zay Flowers.
08:51So that's your top five.
08:53And, you know, the Bengals, when healthy, I think, are at least a playoff contender.
08:59I mean, they had a horrific defense.
09:03Rams, obviously, a really good team.
09:05Lions, I know they missed the playoffs last year, but also a good team.
09:09So, you know, you hope that they can bounce back.
09:13The team finished with a top five offense during Jaden's rookie year.
09:18Exactly.
09:18When he played in every game.
09:20They averaged almost 30 a game.
09:21They scored about 29 a game.
09:22Right.
09:23Maybe 28.6 or something.
09:24They were right up there.
09:25Exactly what it was going to bring up.
09:26They were a prolific offense.
09:28We saw that during their playoff run.
09:32You got to get the quarterback healthy, number one.
09:35I mean, watching that quarterback series on Netflix.
09:39Again, I watched just two episodes.
09:41But the second episode is after Jaden gets hurt in week two.
09:46And he misses week three, misses week four.
09:49And you just, they're just a different team.
09:51I know Mariota pulled off a win, I think, in week three.
09:54Yeah, but on the whole, Mariota was like one for ten or something in terms of wins.
09:59You're just not going to win with Marcus Mariota.
10:01No, if they're healthy, I think with this personnel, if they say healthy, they should be able to, like, offense
10:11shouldn't be the reason why they don't win football games.
10:14I'm not going to hold them back.
10:16I was one of those guys, though, that, look, I'm not upset that they drafted Sonny Stiles.
10:21I understand why they drafted him.
10:23But I was one of those guys that wouldn't have hated had they gone wide receiver.
10:26They might have.
10:27I mean, I don't know.
10:28Well, and Carnell Tate being drafted fourth by the Titans threw a monkey wrench in their plans.
10:33I wonder.
10:33It would be very interesting to see.
10:34Would they have grabbed Tate if he was there?
10:38over Stiles.
10:40If they had to pick between Tate and Stiles, I think there would have been a lot of heated discussion
10:46because I think that there are clearly Stiles fans in that building and Tate fans.
10:50Yeah.
10:51I don't know who would have won out.
10:52I mean, they were thrilled to get Stiles the way the board played out.
10:56Yeah.
10:56But I truly wonder if they were both there, who would they have taken?
11:00Who did they have higher on their board?
11:04Tate or Stiles?
11:06Yeah.
11:06I think they had Stiles higher on their board.
11:08Well, then they would have taken Stiles.
11:10If you go by your board, if you believe in your board, they would have taken Stiles.
11:14Right.
11:14But I do have a sense that they might have gone Tate.
11:17I don't think they expected Stiles to be there.
11:19I agree with you.
11:20If they had drafted Carnell Tate, for example, then there wouldn't be any questions about the number two receiver.
11:28You wouldn't be dealing with all this Brandon Ayuk nonsense.
11:30Got the Landon Brandon meter over there.
11:34I just noticed that.
11:35God, it made me laugh a little bit.
11:37It made me chuckle.
11:37Oh, yeah.
11:38You're out.
11:38That's the new Terrio meter.
11:39Okay.
11:40Okay.
11:41It's been repurposed.
11:42I like the repurposing.
11:43Oh, no, no, no, no.
11:44I had to make a whole new one.
11:45Oh, you did?
11:46Yeah.
11:46I couldn't find the Terrio meter.
11:47The problem is, as soon as we got it finished, Ayuk really crashed and burned.
11:51Yeah.
11:51That's pretty fun.
11:52And so we haven't used it as much.
11:54It's hard to redeem them at this point.
11:55Yeah.
11:55I mean, actually, we probably should update it right now because there's no way you have Landon
11:59Brandon at roughly 12 and a half percent.
12:02Looks like you're in between zero and 20.
12:04You're going to go.
12:05Cakes, you're going to update it.
12:06Brandon.
12:06He's going to put it at zero.
12:09Oh, less than zero.
12:13Negative.
12:15I don't know.
12:16Maybe.
12:17I mean, the point is, I know the HTTC crowd, they just went from, what is it, midnight to
12:256 a.m. with the quickness.
12:27I mean, if you have any interest right now currently in Brandon Ayuk coming to the commanders, you're
12:33a complete psychopath.
12:34In my opinion.
12:35I'm giving you the out.
12:37Okay.
12:37And the out is that Adam Peters and company know he's crazy and that he was crazy three
12:43years ago.
12:43And they feel like they could just manage him.
12:44They knew he was crazy three years ago.
12:46This is nothing new to them.
12:47It's possible.
12:48Just bring him in.
12:48Sit him down.
12:49Say, look, Brandon, we know you're weird.
12:50You're out there.
12:52Here's a veteran minimum deal with a bunch of incentives.
12:56If you want to play, if your heart is in it, sign it.
12:59We'd love to have you.
13:00But if you do the crazy Instagram bit while you're here, we're going to cut you immediately.
13:05Yeah.
13:06If you make a stink, if you're any kind of distraction at all, it's not going to work.
13:09Right.
13:10But we love your ability on the field.
13:13And deep down, they already know he's crazy.
13:15Yeah.
13:15That's the only.
13:16And by the way, that could be totally wrong.
13:17This might be a revelation to him.
13:19They might have thought he was fairly normal until now.
13:21Right.
13:22Now they're like, whoa.
13:23Yeah.
13:23They've been enlightened.
13:24We thought we knew this guy, but we didn't really know.
13:26But the point is, they drafted Sonny Stiles, so they did not draft a receiver.
13:31Terry McLaurin is your number one part of this triplets deal.
13:34McLaurin did have six straight seasons with 1,000 yards.
13:37Yeah.
13:37So last year, because of injuries, because of the holdout, he only played in 10 games.
13:42So if Terry stays healthy and gets 150-plus targets in this offense, he's going to have
13:48a Pro Bowl-level type of year.
13:51He's never had more than 134 targets, so it's hard to believe he'd have 150.
13:54I know what Blau said.
13:56Hey, look, if Blau wants to treat him like a Monroe St. Brown and pepper him with targets
14:02because he knows he's his best option, he could have a year like that.
14:05How many times have we watched games where you're like, how come Terry isn't getting
14:09the ball?
14:09Right.
14:10I mean, so many times you watch those games.
14:12I think David Blau hasn't poured through all of those tapes and said, well, why aren't
14:15they delivering the ball to Terry, to their best player?
14:17Why is it halftime and Terry has two targets?
14:20I can't wait to see.
14:21I hope he over-targets Terry McLaurin.
14:24I can't wait to see what Antonio Williams brings.
14:26I'm telling you, I love his potential.
14:29I just can't wait to see how he fits in and if they have any trust and any faith in
14:32him.
14:33And then the X factor is Chig, who possibly could be that second receiver that we're all
14:39lamenting that we don't have.
14:40Yeah.
14:41It's possible.
14:43Maybe in next year's list of rankings, he'll be the triplet listed if he has a big breakout
14:48year.
14:48It's possible.
14:50Can you imagine?
14:51Did they do that with anybody?
14:51Did they rank like tight ends instead of running backs?
14:53Well, they did it with the Browns because they don't have any real wide outs of note other
14:57than guys they drafted high this year.
14:59Aren't you guys a little drunk on the Chig hype?
15:02I think they are.
15:03I mean, ESPN did a list of the tight ends, right?
15:07Everything we've been talking about.
15:08No, I know.
15:08They didn't have many.
15:09They listed 23 tight ends that received votes.
15:11Okay.
15:12Chig was not one of them.
15:13Yeah.
15:14I think he's going to be different this year.
15:15I'm not a Chig hater.
15:17He could do great.
15:18I'm ripe for picking to overvalue the number of matches he's going to have.
15:23Your real quarterback's not in the top 10 either.
15:26Yeah, but he will be when he's healthy.
15:27All right.
15:27I'm going to bet right now.
15:28Do you think he's not?
15:29Do you think with Jayden's healthy, he's not a top 10 quarterback?
15:31I've made my stance clear on Jayden Danielson's statement.
15:34Remind us.
15:36He's an outside top 10 quarterback.
15:38So even when he's healthy?
15:40I saw him healthy last year.
15:42I saw him.
15:43You saw him healthy like three or four times.
15:45Yeah.
15:45I saw him have zero points against the Vikings.
15:47I saw him get destroyed by the Seahawks.
15:49Yeah.
15:49Last year was a bad year for sure.
15:51You win last year.
15:52You also saw him healthy in 2024.
15:54Yeah.
15:54And I had to kiss the toilet for that.
15:55Yeah.
15:56Yeah.
15:57I need to come up with that again.
15:58I have.
15:59I've looked into my crystal ball.
16:00And I have.
16:01I think Chig's going to be really, really good.
16:03I have Chig's numbers.
16:04I have them in front of me.
16:04I'm willing to make a bet with Drab.
16:06Just come up with a bet, Drab.
16:07Chig.
16:07No, because I'm not a Chig hater.
16:09So.
16:09I'm not a hater on anyone.
16:10I'm a Chig guy.
16:10But I have no problem with him.
16:12If Chig plays.
16:13Well, you're kind of making it like you have a problem with him.
16:14Well, I'm just.
16:15You guys are acting like.
16:17I think he's going to explode.
16:19He'll have Antonio Gates or something.
16:20He'll have the best year of his career here.
16:23He'll have the best year of his career here.
16:25If Chig plays.
16:25I hope so.
16:25He was a backup tight end.
16:28Cakes can't get in.
16:28He wants to make a bet.
16:29Well, he's got.
16:30He's had trash cans throwing him the ball his whole career.
16:33Right?
16:34Outside.
16:35Cam Ward.
16:35I don't know if Cam Ward's a trash can.
16:37I'm not calling him that.
16:37But in year one, he was kind of a trash can throwing the ball.
16:39I think the offense was.
16:40If Chig plays in 14 games or more, he will have 68 catches and six touchdowns in this
16:46offense.
16:47I'm willing to make that bet.
16:48Why did I get grilled?
16:49$5.
16:50But you act like that's great.
16:53And I got grilled for saying it.
16:54Those are Zach Ertz numbers.
16:55I think he's going to be different.
16:57He's going to stretch the field more.
16:58They kill for Zach Ertz numbers.
17:00But his 68 catches will be for more yards than Zach Ertz's.
17:03I'll also put that caveat in.
17:06But isn't his yards per catch average basically what Zach Ertz's is?
17:10Yeah, but he has.
17:11His yak is way better than Zach Ertz's.
17:14Okay, but it ends up the same.
17:16I'm just telling you.
17:17If you have a 10-yard catch.
17:18I have numbers in front of me that I'm willing to bet on.
17:22I don't think that's some great season, though.
17:25You guys were down on Zach Ertz.
17:27Basically, 70 catches for six touchdowns is not a good season for a tight end.
17:31The year before last.
17:32I'm not saying he's Travis Kelsey in his prime, but that's a pretty good season.
17:34The year before last, Zach Ertz had 66 catches with seven touchdowns.
17:39Yeah.
17:40That's a pretty good production.
17:42Well, why'd you poo-poo it?
17:43Because it was Zach Ertz.
17:45I like guys who catch the ball and then run with it and then get tackled.
17:48No, no, it was great.
17:48Guys who fall down and immediately get tackled.
17:49It was great.
17:49You would take it, but Zach Ertz just, you know, he's getting older and older and older.
17:52He couldn't do it anymore.
17:54It banged up.
17:55That's all.
17:55I think Chig is a slight upgrade.
17:57I do think, I agree with Drab, that you guys are like deifying Chig.
18:01Like, he's this great tight end.
18:03I think he's going to have a big year.
18:05I think he's closer to.
18:06I'm big on Chig.
18:07I think he has the potential to be like a wide receiver, tight end kind of combo kind of guy.
18:12Man, I'm rooting for him big time this season.
18:14I need to get into it.
18:15I'm going to get a Chig jersey.
18:16But he's had that potential since he was drafted.
18:18I know, but he had trash quarterbacks.
18:19This is going to be a different offense.
18:20A better offense, a better quarterback.
18:22Hey, you know what?
18:23We're united on Chig.
18:24I don't know if I would guarantee 68 catches on 14 games, though.
18:28I might do that on.
18:29He has to play in 14 games.
18:31I know, I know, I know, I know, I know.
18:32All right, got to take a break.
18:34When we come back, we'll do EB's entertainment page.
18:36We'll get back into the Commanders with Ben Standig coming up at 9 a.m.
18:40here on the Junk's.
