00:04our universe is a pretty unbelievable and spectacular place but now scientists say it
00:09used to be much more spectacular or at least much much different than it is today experts at the
00:14large hadron collider recently forced lead particles together at very nearly the speed
00:18of light producing what they say is the first matter that the big bang created 13.8 billion
00:23years ago it's called quark gluon plasma a short-lived primordial type of matter that has
00:28likely shown scientists how the universe evolved in its first moments the substance is a perfect
00:33liquid flowing better than any other known matter and it's the fundamental building block of all
00:37things gluons connecting quarks eventually forming subatomic particles then becoming hadrons protons
00:42and neutrons the whole event lasted only 10 to the minus 23 seconds a fraction of a fraction of
00:48a millisecond but using a computer simulator and data gathering instruments they were able to
00:53determine what happened between the moment the lead particles collided and the moment the resulting
00:57cork glue on plasma condensed into hadrons revealing what our universe was truly like in the immediate
01:02moment after its birth
