Transcript
00:00What are you drinking tonight? This is the Paul Revere IPA. The Paul Revere IPA. Well, cheers.
00:07Many delicious styles, many delicious brews here.
00:11Hello, it's Adam Twal from the ROR Morning Show. This is my friend Dan. Say hello, Dan.
00:15Hi, I'm Dan. So Dan and I are at Twisted Fate Brewing for the most recent edition of my new
00:21series called Can Check. Now, what is Can Check, you ask, Dan? Yeah, go ahead and ask me.
00:25What's Can Check? So Can Check is when I talk about beer on the ROR Morning Show. And sometimes
00:32it's at a brewery. Sometimes I'll go and I'll get, you know, some take home from my local
00:36package store. And I figured that since we're here at Twisted Fate Brewing in Danvers tonight,
00:41we talk a little bit about Twisted Fate. Yes. So Twisted Fate is open here in Danvers. They have
00:46another location in Revere. They opened the Danvers location here in April of 2022. What's interesting
00:52about Twisted Fate, Dan, is they are a majority-owned, a majority-female-owned nano brewery.
00:58That's right. And that is uncommon here in the state of Massachusetts. We're big fans of that.
01:03And we're big fans of their beer. I'm actually drinking Don't Fear the Dunkel. What are you
01:06drinking, Dan? This is the Paul Revere IPA. The Paul Revere IPA. Well, cheers. Many delicious
01:14styles, many delicious brews here at Twisted Fate. And they do have carryouts. You can come and visit.
01:18You can get a pint here in the brewery. You can also get a pint to take home. But what
01:21I wanted
01:22to highlight about Twisted Fate with you, Dan, is this is a place that you and I come on the
01:28last Thursday of every month. That's right. Because you started a special group. Is it
01:3210 years ago now? 2019. So, okay. So, not quite. So, like, seven years ago. Yeah. Talk a little
01:39bit about the men's autism group that you started. So, I founded this group back in 2019 with
01:45another fellow, autism dad, named Carl. We were going around. We were like, there's
01:50not a lot of support groups for men in the autism community. There's a lot for women, for
01:55families, but nothing for dads. And our wives were like, why don't you just start one? And
02:00we did. So, we started back in 2019. Actually, Adam's one of our original members who came back
02:05in 2019. We had a bunch of different locations, but Twisted Fate has been our most recent partner.
02:11Like Adam said, we come here last Thursday of each month. It's very kind of low stress.
02:16We come have a few beers, talk about our kids, or not talk about our kids, or whatever.
02:20Yeah, exactly. So, we've curated a really good group. There's usually about 10 to 12 guys
02:25that come per month. Again, it's a great little support community. We have support from the
02:30Northeast Arc. We're in Danvers. So, great supporters of ours. Kind of hyped up the group for us and all
02:37that stuff.
02:38But, yeah, it's been a good thing for us. It's been a great thing to be part of, Dan. I
02:43want to say cheers for that.
02:44And, yeah, again, like Dan, I'm a fellow autism dad. And it's cool that the group has kind of moved
02:50around.
02:51It's cool that the Northeast Arc affords us all the support that they do. They kind of help us get
02:55the word out on the group.
02:57But it's really, it's more of like an organic word of mouth thing and a really, like, kind of laid
03:01back thing.
03:02Like, once a month, Dan will send out the message. And I feel like, you said, like, we get about
03:0610, 12 guys per month.
03:08But every month you send out the email, there's, like, 80 guys on there, man. Like, I feel like there's,
03:13like, as far as, like, the full group of dads that have interacted with the group and become part of
03:18the group, it's pretty deep.
03:20Yeah, definitely. Yeah, there's a huge, like Adam said, there's a huge group of names on my list.
03:25But we've got, like, a core group of members. But, again, if you are a dad on the North Shore
03:30and want some nice support for people with autism, we're a great group for you.
03:36And you'll get great beer as well. And, again, it's the last Thursday of the month, rather, at Twisted Fate.
03:42You know, just, you can hit me, you can hit me up in the comments here.
03:46You can find me, I'm just Adam12 at WROR.com if you want to find out more about the group.
03:51If you want to find out more about Twisted Fate here in Danvers.
03:54Or if you just want to find out more about CanCheck.
03:56And even if you want to suggest someplace.
03:58You were saying that they turned the alfalfa farm into a brewery?
04:02Correct. Yeah, that was one of our old partners.
04:04Hmm, okay.
04:05Maybe that's the next stop for CanCheck.
04:09But tonight we're live from Twisted Fate Brewing on 114 in Danvers.
04:13So, cheers, Dan.
04:14Cheers. Thanks, Adam.
04:15Thanks for checking it out.
04:16Right on.
