00:37A council spokesperson says residents' views are being sought on a number of issues
00:42from retail and businesses, housing, public spaces, culture and leisure options.
00:47The council's new leader, Carl Johnson, announced that an in-depth review of plans for the city centre
00:53would take place before any schemes progress.
00:55He said the council want to see real, meaningful regeneration and investment, but it's important that it's done right.
01:02Matthew Pinder, the council's cabinet member for district regeneration and growth,
01:06said it's clear that regeneration is required to offer renewed economic opportunity for business,
01:12provide homes and attract more people to the city.
01:15And he added that the council's new administration is asking for views openly and transparently,
01:20as they promised they would.
01:22As well as numerous drop-in events, the Wakefield Have Your Say online portal is welcoming views until the 2nd
01:28of August.
