President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos led the inauguration of Phase 1 of the Meralco Terra (MTerra) Solar Project on Tuesday, July 14.
Touted as the world’s largest integrated solar and battery storage facility, it is seen as key to shielding the Philippines from global energy shocks and cutting reliance on coal. Marcos confirmed that Phase 1 is 91% complete and set to start commercial operations by August 2026, with full completion targeted in 2027. (Video courtesy of RTVM)
