00:36On Monday, dozens of workers at the main Ebola treatment center in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo
00:43went on strike protesting the non-payment of salaries and bonuses.
00:52Hello, welcome to From the South. I am Lorena Afon from the Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:57Moving in with anyone so stay with us.
01:18The Venezuelan Acting President Elsie Rodriguez led a meeting of the Economic Council to discuss the implementation of the Venezuela
01:24RISES strategic plan.
01:26With over 600 participants representing the country's 14 productive sectors in attendance, the discussions centered on the plan designed to
01:34stimulate the productive sector and promote economic recovery following the earthquakes that struck the country on June 24.
01:40Key sectors identified as essential to recovery include banking, the stock market, construction, entrepreneurship, the communal economy, hydrocarbons, pharmaceuticals and
01:50food production.
01:51According to the Acting President, despite the initial disaster, the country's economic indicators remained stable during the second quarter with
01:58grown exceeding 9% compared to the same period last year.
02:09For the more acting President of the Republic, Elsie Rodriguez emphasized that the national government has remained steadfast in calling
02:16for an anti-coercive measures and the economic blockade.
02:23We are the ones who have consistently called for sanctions to be lifted and we have never stopped demanding their
02:30removal.
02:31This has been a recurring topic in multiple economic council meetings and has become a matter of national unity with
02:38broad consensus.
02:40If you ask business leaders, companies or productive sectors, no one supports sanctions or the economic blockade.
02:47Only an extremist sector continues to advocate for and promote them.
02:52We have never stopped calling for an end to the economic blockade against Venezuela because it affects the entire population.
03:01At this moment, lifting that blockade would send an extraordinary signal to the international community and those with the authority
03:09to remove it should do so.
03:17In this context, the Vice President of Economy Calixto Ortega highlights that Venezuela's productive sector has remained operational with key
03:24industries continuing to function.
03:31Assessments conducted over the past several weeks indicate that Venezuela's productive sector has demonstrated greater resilience than initially anticipated.
03:40In particular, the oil sector and the country's productive capacity have remained largely intact and continue to operate normally.
03:49The main impacts have been concentrated on certain urban and transportation infrastructure rather than on the country's productive capabilities.
03:57This finding is significant. Venezuela maintains the capacity to produce, export and support its economic recovery.
04:05And to sustain its recovery.
04:09Venezuela's acting press and Endelce RodrĂguez led an inspection on the Jose Herbazo Artigas educational complex in Propatria,
04:16west of Caracas, where she confirmed the quality of the social and medical services received by families affected by the
04:22earthquakes of June 24.
04:23The Government of Venezuela guarantees physical and emotional health services in the shelters,
04:28balanced nutrition, recreation and constant logistical support ensuring the well-being and dignity of those who are temporarily staying there
04:36while they wait for their new homes.
04:38To ensure the delivery of decent housing, the national government has already activated the housing registry using fingerprint scanners in
04:46all camps.
04:46Throughout a personalized QR code, families are guaranteed allocation of their new homes while technical teams are rapidly progressing in
04:55the study of safe land to begin construction of modern and stable housing development.
05:07Structural engineer Yudeki Miyamoto addressed the damage caused by the earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24 and highlighted the
05:15importance of technical work for the recovery of the affected areas.
05:18The urban resilience specialist explained that coordination is underway between national teams and international organizations to analyze the condition of
05:28structures and address the needs of communities.
05:32From Miyamoto International, an organization dedicated to structural engineer and risk reduction, a damage assessment and technical consulting service is
05:40being conducted to support the recovery process.
05:42In addition, the expert reported on a training program for Venezuelan engineers and a digital tool for collecting information on
05:50potential damage, with the goal of strengthening the evaluations and safety of future construction projects.
06:04Evangelical members of the Landless Workers' Movement in Brazil held a virtual vigil in solidarity with the people of Venezuela.
06:11The event brought together activists and various Brazilian pastoral leaders with the goal of coordinating concrete actions of support in
06:18light of the complex situation facing the Caribbean nation.
06:22During the event, the brigade's coordinator reported that more than 17,000 volunteers are active in Venezuelan territory throughout communities
06:29and work teams.
06:30Given the situation, the Brazilian delegation proposed the creation of an evangelical brigade that will travel to Venezuela to directly
06:38participate in the reconstruction of homes and public spaces.
06:41destroyed by the earthquake, a strengthening international cooperation between the two countries.
06:46The day of prayer and reflection included the participation of pastors from various regions of Brazil, as well as Venezuelan
06:52representatives who agreed on the need to active in military responses in the face of the crisis.
07:06On Monday, the Constitutional Court of Lima, the capital of Peru, took a step that revives the hope of the
07:12defense of former President Pedro Castillo by admitting the habeas corpus demand that seeks his release.
07:18The judge, Anah del Rosario Soriosorio Sosa, reached her decision after the working group on arbitrary detention of the United
07:24Nations hand,
07:26classified the former President's arrest as discretionary and demanded his immediate release.
07:32The lawyer of the former head of state, Walter Ayala, who presented the demand,
07:38maintains that his client was denied the political immunity that the Constitution requires before removing a head of state,
07:45and that all the rights related to the exercise of his defense were violated,
07:49such as due process for the resumption of innocence.
07:53Political and social organizations have also announced mobilizations
07:57so that former President Castillo does not spend another hour in prison.
08:08Let's take a short break, but before we invite you to visit or to watch our program
08:12in collaboration with the China Academy Overlap conversations from across the world in episode 12,

08:58Welcome back to From the South.
08:59We continue now in Cuba, where the Electricity Union announced on Tuesday a new total disconnection
09:04of the national power systems, which occurred around 11.05 a.m.
09:08This is the third event in less than eight days.
09:12Although the exact causes of the incident are unknown,
09:14the Electricity Union has already begun to implement protocols for the gradual restoration of the power grid,
09:20prioritizing the creation of microsystems to provide power to vital facilities, hospitals, and water systems.
09:27This latest disruption comes amid growing economic pressure on Cuba from the United States,
09:33which is blocking oil shipments to the island after President Trump signed an executive order
09:38last January, threatening tariffs on countries that export or facilitate the supply of fuel.
09:52Another information, Thailand's Prime Minister, Anutin Shanvirakul, met with Myanmar's Minister of Foreign Affairs

10:20In addition, the Thai Prime Minister will make an official visit to the People's Republic of China
10:26from July 16th to the 20th, and during his stay in Beijing,
10:30the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold working meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping
10:34and Prime Minister Lai Likian.
10:36Additionally, the Thai delegation's official agenda includes participation in the World Conference

10:51Relators of the victims of the fire at the Bangkok bar that occurred on early Monday morning
10:57claimed the bodies of their loved ones at a hospital in the Thai capital amid scenes of deep grief.
11:03At least 30 people died and more than 60 were hospitalized after a fire engulfed a pub in Bangkok, Thailand,
11:11while a live music concert was taking place, forcing patrons to desperately flee the blaze,
11:18according to information from authorities.
11:21Preliminary investigations suggest that the flames spread extremely rapidly to the use of highly flammable acoustic insulation form
11:32inside the venue, a recurring factor in previous tragedies in the Asian countries.
11:55The Russian Federation successfully launched the Soyuz MS-29-manned spacecraft on Monday bound for the International Space Station.
12:03Two Russian cosmonauts and one United States astronaut are traveling on board the mission in an achievement
12:09that reaffirms the importance of international scientific cooperation and the development of the multiple reality
12:15in the exploration of space frontiers.

13:07The United States carried out a third consecutive night of strikes against Iran for their escalating tensions in the Gulf
13:13after President Donald Trump announced the reinstatement of a blockade on Iranian shipping.
13:19The United States Central Command said the operation targeted Iranian capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz.
13:24The strikes were launched on President Donald Trump's orders and were intended to impose what he described as a high
13:31cost on Tehran.
13:32The strikes began just minutes after Trump said in an interview that Iran would be hit very hard.
13:37Trump also announced new transit fees for commercial vessels to cover security costs while assuring that the strategic waterway will
13:48remain open with or without Iran.
13:50In response, Iran rejected the move insisting it alone would safeguard the Strait and warning that the United States has
13:58no authority over its future.
14:07On Tuesday, Iran condemned the United Kingdom's decision to designate the Revolutionary World as a terrorist organization, calling for the
14:15move petty, provocative and contrary to international law.
14:18Iran's reaction comes after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Monday that his government will designate the Revolutionary World
14:26as a terrorist organization, considering it as a threat to national security, and will present regulations to Parliament this week
14:35to formalize the measure.
14:37In a statement, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemn the actions as unjustified, irresponsible and contrary to fundamental principles
14:45and norms of international law.
14:56On Monday, dozens of workers at the main Ebola treatment center in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the
15:02Congo went on strike protesting the non-payment of their salary and bonuses.
15:06This protest comes at a critical time as the country faces a new wave of the virus that, according to
15:13the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has become the fastest-growing outbreak recorded so far on the continent.
15:21The strike has profoundly affected operation at Rampada in General Hospital and into the province, where the striking staff is
15:30not limited to doctors alone.
15:31It includes epidemiologists, a case investigators, drivers and burial attendants.
15:38Although the Minister of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo stated that the government has the means to
15:44resolve the conflict, the strike continues to jeopardize the response to one of the most severe health crises the region
15:52has ever faced.

16:14first semifinal kickstart between France and Spain. More after the break.
16:40Welcome to Beyond the Game. The ball says fear Spain and France meet this Tuesday in the FIFA World Cup
16:45semifinals, renewing one of European football's greatest
16:47rivalries. The two nations have faced each other 38 times with their only previous World Cup meeting coming at Germany
16:542006.
16:56Spain and France meet this Tuesday in the FIFA World Cup semifinals, renewing one of European football's greatest rivalries. The
17:03two nations have faced each other 38 times with their only previous World Cup meeting coming at Germany 2006.
17:09Across official matches and friendlies, Spain holds the overall edge with 18 victories compared to France's 14, while seven matches
17:17have ended in draws.
17:18But despite Spain's advantage in the head-to-head record, France has won several of the rivalry's biggest encounters.
17:24Les Blues lifted the UEFA European Championship in 1984 with a two-azoo victory over Spain in the final, thanks
17:31to Michel Platini and John Tigana.
17:33They knocked Spain out of Euro 2000 with a 2-1 win featuring goals from Zinedine, Zidane and Didier Deschamps,
17:39then defeated La Roja 3-1 in the round of 16 at the 2006 World Cup with goals from Frank
17:44Ribéry, Patrick Vieira and Zidane.
17:46France also claimed the 2021 UEFA Nations League title with a 2-1 victory in the final, powered by Kylian
17:53Mbappé and Karim Benzema.
17:55Spain, the reigning world champions after their 2010 World Cup triumph, answered back at Euro 2012, eliminating France 2-0
18:03behind a Xabi Alonso brace.
18:05More recently, La Roja defeated Les Blues 2-1 in the semifinals of Euro 2024 with goals from Lamine Yamal
18:12and Dani Olmo.
18:13Their latest meeting came in the 2025 UEFA Nations League semifinals, where Spain edged France 5-4 in a spectacular
18:20nine-goal thriller.
18:22Now, Spain and France meet once again in what has become a true European classic.
18:26Both teams arrive in outstanding form and are widely considered among the favorites to lift the World Cup trophy, setting
18:32the stage for a semifinal where anything can happen.
18:37Clinical composed and yet to concede in knockout rounds, France has once again established itself as one of the favorites
18:42to lift the FIFA World Cup trophy,
18:44while Spain, playing with confidence and control, has steadily marched into the semifinals.
18:50France looked every bit the title contender from the opening whistle of the tournament, topping Group I with three victories
18:57from three matches.
18:58Didier Deschamps' side combined a rock-solid defense with clinical finishing, defeating Irak before edging Senegal in a decisive group
19:06clash and then cruising past Norway to finish the opening phase with a perfect record.
19:11Kylian Mbappé led the attack, while France's depth and balance made Le Bleu one of the tournament's most complete teams
19:18heading into the knockout rounds.
19:20France has continued the dominance without conceding a goal in the knockout rounds.
19:25A convincing 3-0 victory over Sweden in the round of 32 was followed by a disciplined 1-0 win
19:31over surprise package Paraguay in the round of 16.

20:05defensive discipline that have become trademarks under Luis de la Fuente.
20:09Spain has steadily raised its level with every knockout match.
20:13Austria offered little resistance in a comfortable 3-0 round of 32 victory before Portugal pushed La Roja to their
20:20limit in a 10-Siberian derby that Spain edged 1-0.
20:23The biggest test came in the quarter-finals, where Spain overcame Belgium 2-1 in a high-quality contest to
20:30book another World Cup semifinal, extending an impressive run that has seen them concede just once in the knockout rounds.
20:40And as France prepares to face Spain in the World Cup semifinals, fans in Dallas are confident LeBlues will keep
20:45their Bastille Day celebrations alive with a victory.
20:51We're happy to be here because there are plenty of teams that would love to be in our position.
20:55I'm thinking of the Germans, the Brazilians and many others.
20:59We're feeling reasonably confident and hope to do better than we did against these same Spaniards at the European Championship.
21:06But it's going to be a very evenly matched contest. We mustn't be overconfident or arrogant.
21:12I love all the players that are in this team. I love Kilian. He's one of my favorite players.
21:20I love that he's so young. He's practically my age, so it's so cool that he's accomplished so much already
21:26in his career.
21:27And I hope he gets a second World Cup for France.
21:31Oh yes, I've been watching all the games. I think it's a very strong team. Same like last time, so
21:36in 2022.
21:39So I'm just hoping for us to go to the World Cup and win this time so we can have
21:43that excitement from 2018 and 98.
21:48And London is embracing World Cup fever ahead of England's semifinal against Argentina with Bellingham Station in Southeast London temporarily
21:56renamed Jude Bellingham Station
21:58in honor of the Three Lions midfield star. The Tribal reflects the excitement surrounding Bellingham, who has scored braces in
22:04each of England's last two knockout victories.
22:07Supporters are now hoping he can deliver another match-winning performance and guide England to its first World Cup final
22:14since 1966.
22:15The showdown with Argentina promises to be one of the biggest matches of the tournament, with a place in Sunday's
22:21final at stake.
22:28And Swiss fans gave their national team a hero's welcome in Zurich after an inspiring FIFA World Cup campaign that
22:35ended with a quarter-final defeat to Argentina in extra time.
22:38Thousands of supporters packed the streets and gathered outside the team's arrival point, applauding a squad that matched Switzerland's best
22:46-ever World Cup finish by reaching the last eight.
22:48Murat Yakin's side earned widespread praise for its discipline defending and resilience throughout the tournament before eventually falling 3-1
22:55to Argentina after extra time.
22:57Despite the heartbreak, players and coaching staff thanked supporters for their unwavering backing as fans celebrated a team that once
23:04again proved Switzerland can compete with the world's elite on football's biggest stage.
23:16First of all, a huge thank you. We would have loved to stay for another week. But it's also wonderful
23:22to see our supporters again in such an atmosphere. The images we saw were fantastic. It was really amazing.
23:28We are extremely proud of the work done by all the staff and every player. I want to thank you
23:33all very sincerely.
23:38I think it's still a bit hard to take in what we've achieved. We'll probably manage it during the holidays,
23:43once we've had the chance to relax a bit.
23:45But overall, I think it was a good tournament. We can be proud of what we've done. Unfortunately, in the
23:51end, it just wasn't enough.
23:53With a bit more luck, we could have gone even further. But that's the game, and we accept the result.
23:59It was great to celebrate here with all the supporters and to welcome the team, who gave us so much
24:04joy. We know very well that they all should have qualified, but it was nice to be able to celebrate
24:09them.
24:12The Croatian Football Federation announced Lavend Bilic as the new head coach of the national team. The 57-year-old
24:18manager takes over from Zlatko Dalic, who stepped down following Croatia's round of 32 exit at the 2026 FIFA World
24:25Cup.
24:25Bilic returns for a second spell in charge after previously managing the national team from 2006 to 2012. During his
24:32first tenure, he posted an impressive record of 42 wins, 15 draws and just 8 defeats. While Dalic finished with
24:38more total victories, 62 wins, 20 draws and 29 losses. Bilic boasts the better winning percentage.
24:45His best achievement with Croatia came at UEFA Euro 2008, where he guided the team to the quarterfinals.
24:59This is all for this edition of Beyond the Game, the bosses viewer. We are just barely two hours away
25:03from the first semifinal of this edition of the World Cup, France vs Spain. A beautiful game that will be
