00:00We have the governor of Utah, and we have a lot of other very high representatives from Utah, at least
00:05mostly from Utah.
00:07And we're doing something very dramatic and very important for the people of Utah and the people of our country,
00:12because many people use it.
00:14We're so strongly about this, and we signed, and then they terminated it.
00:18We're terminating certain monuments. They call it monuments, not the ones we have outside, but these are large thousands of
00:25acres.
00:25It's a total of almost 3 million acres, and we're going to be discussing it.
00:31But, in fact, I think we'll start discussing it right now before I sign.
00:35After that, we're going to be signing two documents that are close to a million and a half acres each.
00:42And we're standing here with the governor, the speaker of the Utah House.
00:46These multi-million acre monuments that are bigger than the state of Delaware certainly do not fit that designation.
00:54Now, we care, we definitely care about protecting these antiquities, and we'll continue to do so.
01:00The problem is with these giant monument designations, there are no resources that come with those.
01:05We have nine monuments in Utah.
01:07Seven of them are around 700 acres to 7,000 acres.
01:11That's what this was meant to be, not millions of acres, as what happened with Grand Staircase-Escalani and Bears
01:19Ears.
01:19And so we're grateful that the president has made a determination that we need to right-size these monuments.
01:25Again, this does not remove the other protections that already exist in those areas, just making the monuments more manageable
01:31so that we have the resources necessary to continue to protect these antiquities.
01:36The county commissioners, the locals who are worried about losing locals.
01:41Almost three million acres.
01:44Going to be well taken care of now.

02:06So, we've done something that was, I think, very desperately needed.
02:13It was very unfair to the people of Utah.
02:15And now fairness has been brought back.
02:18It's going to be better taken care of.
02:21And they'll be able to use it a little bit.
02:23So there's something very nice about that.
