00:00The non-publication order was discontinued in relation to an AFP
00:04investigation involving alleged child abuse related offences committed by a
00:10Sydney childcare worker over a 16-year period. The non-publication order was
00:15sought by the AFP to protect the integrity of the police investigation,
00:20undertake a comprehensive victim identification process and contact
00:25impacted families. The AFP can now reveal that a 35-year-old man who worked at or
00:32attended 62 early childhood centres across Sydney's Northwest has been
00:38charged with 329 child abuse related offences. The AFP will allege that between
00:442009 and 2025 the man committed multiple offences against children at five
00:51facilities which includes four childcare centres and his own private business.
00:58The majority of their offences related to the production of child abuse material
01:01and filming a person without consent. Operation Moonby began in June
01:072025 following a report of an online user uploading child abuse material. The AFP
01:15linked the 35-year-old man to the alleged online activity and executed a warrant in
01:19Glossadia in northwest Sydney. 25 electronic devices were seized containing a total of
01:262.4 million files. Some of these files were identified as child abuse material. The
01:34man has been in custody since July 2025 after he was arrested by the AFP that month.
01:42Our approach in this investigation has always been victim focused. Supporting impacted
01:48families and ensuring they receive the right support for their specific
01:51circumstances has been our priority since we identified this man had
01:56allegedly produced child abuse material. We understand this period has been tough
02:01for our members of our community and we thank you for your cooperation and
02:05patience as we respond to your inquiries. The AFP has been in contact with more
02:11than 121 families based in Australia and overseas who have positively identified their child as
02:19being depicted in child abuse material. We can now confirm 136 victims have been positively
02:26identified as part of Operation Moonby. As a parent myself, I'm acutely aware of how
02:33distressing this news is. In response to this investigation, a local contact point has now
02:40been activated in partnership with the New South Wales Communities and Justice, New South
02:46Wales Health and the New South Wales Early Learning Commission. Parents and carers can now
02:52access access an AFP website at www.afp.gov.au forward slash op dash moonby and that's spelled M-O
03:04-O-N-B-I.
03:06This website will have information on the man's employment, appropriate support services and who to
03:12contact if they believe they require further assistance. Any allegation involving the abuse of children is
03:20confronting and horrific, especially when it involves someone trusted to care for them.
03:27The abuse of trust we alleged has occurred is devastating and will have lifelong ramifications
03:34for victims and their families. All I can say is we never gave up and we never will. I want
03:41to
03:41wholeheartedly thank the investigators, our forensic members, our victim identification teams who have
03:49worked tirelessly and diligently to review over 16 years of alleged offending on the man's devices.
03:56This took time, skill and determination. We urge any victim survivors to seek support
04:02or talk to a trusted person if today's news has caused distress.
