Transcript
00:00If you already own the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, you probably set them up once but haven't discovered half
00:06of what these smart glasses can do.
00:08In this episode of Setup Essentials, I'll show you how to use Ray-Ban Meta glasses like a pro,
00:13highlighting the most underrated features that can genuinely upgrade how you use these smart glasses day to day.
00:19So, hit that like button and subscribe, and let's get into it.
00:30Gonna start with a really cool hidden feature I bet you didn't know.
00:33Instead of fumbling for your phone to scan a QR menu or a concert poster, you can simply look at
00:38a QR code of your glasses and say,
00:40Hey Meta, scan this.
00:43Link sent to your phone.
00:45The link will open on your connected phone automatically.
00:49Want to save on battery life?
00:50The hidden setting to change is turning off the Hey Meta wake word.
00:54If you find your battery dying too quickly, go into Settings and switch to Touch and Hold for Waking Meta.
01:00It prevents the microphones from constantly listening for the keyword, which can extend your battery life by up to 30%.
01:08Notice that some of your photos and videos look off-center?
01:12Try this simple framing technique.
01:14Close your right eye, and whatever you see is a good representation of what the camera will capture.
01:19Look slightly to the right of your subject as the camera is located on the left side of the frame.
01:25Hey Meta, take a photo.
01:30Now this one might be my favorite.
01:32Through Meta's Be My Eyes integration, you can connect with a real person who sees what your glasses see and
01:38helps guide you in real time.
01:39Hey Meta, call a volunteer with Be My Eyes.
01:42Calling a volunteer.
01:44Hey there, how can I help?
01:45It's designed for visually impaired users, but it shows where this tech is going.
01:50Real-time, human-assisted vision.
01:52I think it's the one on the bottom.
01:54Try that.
01:54This one here?
01:55Yeah.
01:55With all the bad things that make the news about these smart glasses, it's nice to see some good things
02:00coming out of them.
02:00Yes!
02:01Another good use case, translation.
02:04You can trigger real-time translation just by saying,
02:07Hey Meta, start live translation.
02:08Starting live translation from Portuguese to English.
02:11It will listen and translate audio back to you through the glasses' speakers.
02:16Let's talk about different things that are not football or politics.
02:20With offline language support, you can download languages to have saved on your glasses,
02:24so you don't have to worry about not having a connection when you're traveling.
02:28When do you look at Portugal, and especially thinking about the newest ones that...
02:31Speaking of travel, you can connect navigation, like Google or Apple Maps, and get spoken directions through the glasses.
02:38Starting live to 10 Rockefeller closets.
02:40It's subtle enough that you can follow directions without breaking stride, and works well for walking, biking, or cities.
02:46Take a left.
02:47This is one of the closest things to invisible tech the glasses actually do.
02:53Sometimes, I'm not sure what to wear or how to style an outfit, but Meta can help.
02:58While wearing the glasses, hold something up from your closet and ask, what matches this?
03:02And Meta's AI will suggest different colors, outfit pairings, and fashion tips.
03:06Black or dark gray pants would pair well with this purple jacket.
03:10It's definitely niche, but it shows how the camera and AI combo can be used beyond just capture.
03:16Hey Meta, take a photo.
03:20Want to share what you're seeing with others?
03:22You can post photos directly from your glasses to platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
03:27Post that photo on my Instagram story.
03:28Sharing photo.
03:28Because it's POV, the content feels more natural and immersive.
03:32This is huge if you create content casually, capture moments without setting up a shoot,
03:36or just want a different perspective than handheld video.
03:41Using the Ray-Ban Meta glasses in the kitchen can make your cooking experience much less complicated.
03:47How many grams are in two ounces?
03:51About 57 grams.
03:52Being able to ask how many grams are in an ounce without reaching for your phone
03:56makes such a big difference and feels like you have a sous-chef hovering over your shoulder.
04:00Hey Meta, set a pasta timer for nine minutes and set a steak timer for four minutes.
04:06Another example, you need to set multiple timers.
04:08Four minutes, started.
04:09And you can ask it how much time that specific food timer needs.
04:17We all love Shazam on our phones, but your Ray-Ban Meta glasses can also tell you what song is
04:21playing out loud.
04:23Connect Shazam in the Meta View app and then ask,
04:25Hey Meta, what song is playing?
04:27Listening now.
04:28To identify and save music right to the connected app of your choice.
04:31Shazam found Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses.
04:36If you want your AI assistant to sound like a celebrity, you can actually do this in the Meta View
04:41app settings.
04:42Here's one of the voices you can choose.
04:43Yes, the voice you hear is not the one you need to use all the time and you have a
04:47handful of options to choose from.
04:49John Cena's recent films include Jackpot in 2024, Ricky Stanicki in 2024.
04:56And maybe one day, they will even add Mark Spoonhour.
04:59He just has such a nice voice.
05:02If you want to quickly get your news briefing, ask Meta for the latest news.
05:06Give me the latest news in sports.
05:09Distraction-free and lets you get informed while on the go.
05:13Hands-off, informative briefing while you walk to work or enjoy a coffee at the park.
05:21If you use multiple devices in your daily workload, you can seamlessly switch between devices.
05:26Phone to laptop and back to phone, no problem.
05:29It lets the Ray-Ban Metas feel like an accessory to your setup rather than an inconvenient Bluetooth device.
05:35Connected to work MacBook for audio.
05:38Hopefully, some of these Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses features you may not have heard of can now become something
05:43you can use in your daily lives.
05:45And if you have any suggestions of your own, definitely let me know in the comments.
05:50Leave a like and subscribe so you don't miss our other Setup Essentials content.
05:54And as always, I'm Phil Rodriguez, this is Tom's Guide, and I will see you in the next video.
06:04Here's one of the voices you can choose.
