00:03Such a pleasure meeting you.
00:04Yes, ma'am.
00:05I'm Brittany O. I'm with HipHopVib.com.
00:07I am so excited to meet you.
00:09I mean, I love hip hop, I love what you've done.
00:11You've pushed the culture forward.
00:12You're really doing a lot, Shaka.
00:14How does it feel to be at an event like this
00:16and being honored as a mogul?
00:17People call you a mogul, Shaka.
00:18Yeah, I mean, I'm a student of the dictionary,
00:21so I had to look the word up again a couple of times
00:22when they were saying this, and it's different variations,
00:25but I receive it and understanding
00:26it's somebody who has expertise
00:28and who has influence within a specific space,
00:30whether it's tech, business, music, you know,
00:33so I receive it and I'm excited because you excited.
00:37Like, the energy that you're giving
00:39and the people out around that obviously put the event together.
00:42I was one of my class of people that were also being honored.
00:45It's exciting to just fellowship and connect,
00:48you know, Steal Shop and Steal, you know what I'm saying?
00:51Inspire, Aspire, all of the things.
00:54Absolutely.
00:54What's exciting for you right now in hip hop
00:58and where hip hop is?
00:59I mean, there's always the unknown, always the unknown.
01:05Redefinition, redefining, which gives you an opportunity,
01:08going back to the conversation we were having,
01:10it gives you an opportunity to find a gap,
01:15create something new.
01:16You can obviously reflect something from the past,
01:19but when you create something new,
01:20that can be really, really exciting.
01:22You know what I'm saying?
01:22And so when we hit these, what we consider so-called walls,
01:26now's the opportunity for that new energy to come through.
01:28Let's get it.
01:29Yeah.
01:29You've been shifting culture forward for a long time
01:32in so many different ways, in my humble opinion.
01:34Okay.
01:35What would you say is the difference between a good executive
01:39and a true visionary, Shaka?
01:41The visionary and an executive would be two different things,
01:43and that's really just about styles.
01:45There are people who are great executors, right?
01:48Once they know what the task is,
01:49you put it in front of them, what have you,
01:51they're able to know, they know the process
01:53from getting from zero to 10, right?
01:56Then you have people who are just visionaries
01:58and they're not always great executors,
02:00they're idealists, they're creators,
02:02they're what have you.
02:04But if there is a goal, a vision of a goal,
02:08then the executors, whether they live in one body
02:10or somebody else or your partner, right,
02:13knows how to get it there.
02:14So it is knowing which one is better,
02:17or I believe moving without vision is possible,
02:20but it's better when you know where you're trying to go,
02:22when you have a uniform goal or even a uniform enemy.
02:25We know we're trying to change this.
02:28We need to be moving towards that.
02:30So, yeah, I think they're balanced.
02:32I mean, you know, separately.
02:34So, Shaka, what is your vision today?
02:37I know it changes so much throughout the years.
02:39I mean, so many things are changing, right?
02:41Again, network, fellowship, be in the moment,
02:44receive the energy, give the energy back.
02:48If there are people that I haven't seen
02:49or I don't know, exchange, you know,
02:53information and conversation to see what's needed.
02:56You know, sometimes you don't know what's needed
02:58until somebody says, hey, we haven't done this in a while,
03:00or this or that.
03:01So sometimes you just gotta, again,
03:02that's the reason why we need to talk to each other
03:04and communicate and all of that.
03:05So we gotta stay on that path.
03:06It's such a pleasure meeting with you today, Shaka.
03:08I'm Brittany Old, this is hiphopvibes.com.
