HERO YACHT CAPTAIN FREES EXHAUSTED SEA TURTLE TRAPPED IN ROPE

A yacht captain came to the rescue of an exhausted sea turtle after spotting it struggling in the water, hopelessly tangled in a rope.
Theodore Yiannisis, 52, a yacht captain from Greece, carefully guided the turtle alongside his boat before cutting away the rope and setting it free.
Theodore said: "While we were at sea, I noticed a sea turtle struggling because it had become tangled in a rope.
"It was clearly exhausted and unable to free itself. I immediately approached it carefully, brought it alongside the boat, and cut the rope to release it.
"At that moment, my only thought was to help the turtle as quickly and safely as possible before it became too weak to survive.
"Working at sea, I occasionally come across situations like this, but every rescue is unique and reminds me how serious marine pollution has become.
"As someone who spends most of my life on the sea, I feel a responsibility to protect the marine environment whenever I can. I couldn't just leave the turtle there knowing I had the chance to help.
"I hope this video raises awareness about the impact of marine litter and abandoned fishing gear on wildlife.
