00:00The conflict between the United States and Iran has escalated dramatically once again.
00:04President Trump explained some of the latest back and forth on Meet the Press Sunday.
00:07We bombed the hell out of them last night. They're very, very evil and sick people.
00:14We had meetings with them for the last, they agreed to a deal yesterday, a perfect deal for
00:19us. No nuclear, no this, no that, no nothing. They gave up everything. And then after that,
00:24they left the room. And then within an hour, they launched a drone at a ship. I said,
00:33you people are sick. You're sick people. For more on where this conflict stands,
00:37whether diplomacy is still possible and what comes next. Let's bring in the New York Post
00:42deputy managing editor, Michael Zennig. So the diplomacy is absolutely still going on.
00:47There was a meeting on Saturday in Oman between the U.S. side and the Iran side.
00:55But the real question is whether there's actually anything happening with it.
01:01President Trump did some interviews today in place of the ones that Lindsey Graham actually
01:09was scheduled to do on the Sunday morning shows. And what he revealed is basically
01:17growing frustration. He said that the Iranians will say that they're willing to agree to,
01:24you know, all kinds of things. And then the next day, attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
01:31So I think the big question now is whether the U.S. and Iran actually can trust each other and
01:41more to the point whether the Trump administration can trust anything that Iran is saying, because it
01:49really does seem like President Trump is losing patience. The other thing that we've seen is
01:55obviously President Trump has, you know, in the past issued a lot of threats, a lot of bluster.
02:03And it is also at times hard to separate what is actually threats from what he threats as a tool
02:11for
02:12negotiation, public negotiation versus what he actually does believe. But right now,
02:18it seems like there's not a ton of progress happening.
