00:09Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 30 times that famous
00:13fighters got caught red-handed as they tried to bend the rules to their advantage.
00:17It was Billy's dad, the man who'd spent 10 years building his son's career,
00:21who was the first to discover Louis Resto's gloves for missing one-third of their padding.
00:2830. Mike Tyson
00:29Although many controversies surfaced during the legendary fighting career of Mike Tyson,
00:34one moment stands out above all others. After getting thoroughly beaten by Evander Holyfield
00:38in their first meeting in 1996, Iron Mike came into the rematch full of fury and a desire for revenge.
00:53Unfortunately, Holyfield was getting better and better while Tyson had lost a
00:56step after his years of inactivity. Early in the fight, Mike tied up with Holyfield in the
01:00clinch and in a moment of absolute madness decided to bite his ear, not once but twice before the
01:04fight was stopped. Tyson claimed it was retaliation for Holyfield's head-butting in the first fight,
01:08but this was one of the most shameful disqualifications in boxing history.
01:12There seems to be some kind of altercation going on.
01:16It looks like he could have been disqualified. The fight could be over.
01:1929. Aaron Pryor
01:21The showdown between Aaron Pryor and Alexis Arguello was a legitimately huge event.
01:26A lot of action for the first round of a 15-round fight.
01:29When fight night came around, it ended up being an occasion marred by controversy. Firstly,
01:33a man with a weapon attempted to get into Arguello's dressing room before the fight. Then,
01:36as Arguello began to pick up steam in the later round, something bizarre happened. Pryor's trainer,
01:41Panama Lewis, was caught on broadcast audio asking for a different water bottle, saying,
01:45Give me that bottle. That's the one I mixed.
01:48Upon receiving this new water bottle, Pryor rallied and scored the TKO. So what was in the
01:52bottle? To this day, nobody's quite sure. The fact that Pryor was not given a post-fight drug
01:56test didn't help matters either.
01:5828. Boyce Gracie
01:59The Gracie family were renowned for their grappling prowess, sure, but they also had a history of doing
02:03their utmost to dictate fight terms and to stubbornly seek out every possible advantage.
02:08A true legend of mixed martial arts introducing the one and only Hoist Gracie!
02:18Perhaps the most famous case of all came when Hoist Gracie tested positive for Nandrolone after
02:23defeating the family's fierce rival, Kazushi Sakuraba, in 2007. Sakuraba had wins over Hoist and
02:29many of his relatives, which led him to dub himself the Gracie Killer. Despite earning his revenge with
02:33a win that was not overturned, Hoist still did irreparable damage to his reputation with this
02:37clear-cut case of cheating.
02:39I have no idea what they're talking about. Look at my first UFC, 178. Look at my last fight, 180.
02:50I gained two pounds for accusing me of using drugs. Never gained a pound of my life.
02:5927. Greg Hardy
03:00The UFC career of the former NFL athlete Greg Hardy was littered with controversies. Plus,
03:05he also entered MMA after being convicted of assaulting an ex-girlfriend.
03:08I didn't say I didn't do anything wrong. You know, that situation occurred and that situation
03:12was handled, but as a man, you can't avoid situations that are not your fault or that are
03:17your fault. Upon his arrival, despite his athleticism, there were some real issues with
03:20his conduct. His inexperience with the MMA rule set became very obvious in his UFC debut,
03:25where he was DQ'd for an illegal knee to the clearly grounded Alan Crowder. Then, just a few
03:30fights later, he had a win over Ben Sozily overturned after it was found that he used an
03:34inhaler in between rounds. Somehow, someway, nobody in his corner knew that using an inhaler
03:38was illegal in MMA competition, which understandably left the fans utterly baffled.
03:42All I'm trying to do is do like we just had a conversation before the fight, man. I'm doing
03:47everything I'm supposed to be doing. I asked permission, he told me I could, and I'm in
03:53trouble again.
03:5426. Josh Burnett
03:55No one is going to deny that Josh Burnett is an MMA legend, but he has a pretty hefty track
03:59record when it comes to PEDs.
04:01The supplement industry was way wilder. It's like, back in 2002, you could still buy all
04:05this shit over the counter that by 2004 got reclassified as steroids.
04:09In 2002, shortly after winning the UFC heavyweight title, he tested positive for banned substances
04:13for the second time in two consecutive fights. That made him the first UFC champion to be
04:17stripped of a title due to a failed drug test. Barnett later tested positive again before
04:21competing in affliction, further damaging his reputation. In 2016, after returning to
04:26the UFC, he was flagged by USADA, although it was later found to be a contaminated supplement.
04:31The supplement itself, as it turns out, was contaminated with a SARM called Osterine,
04:38but when I say contaminated, I mean, it had such trace amounts that the people that did
04:44the lab testing on it said, well, it's clearly just contamination because this wouldn't help
04:48you. This wouldn't do anything for you.
04:50That said, there are very few fighters who have this many run-ins with anti-doping agencies.
04:5425. Josh Koscheck
04:56Despite the fact that many fans despised him in his prime, Josh Koscheck played a fantastic
05:01villain in the UFC. His showdown with Paul Daly, however, would go on to be regarded as
05:05one of the most infamous bouts in MMA history. Everyone knows about the sucker punch that
05:09Daly landed on Koscheck post-fight and how it led to a lifetime ban from the UFC. What
05:13some forget is that Koscheck faked getting hit by an illegal strike in order to get Daly
05:17in trouble earlier in the fight. He then proceeded to frustrate him to no end with his powerful
05:20wrestling. Sucker punching is an inexcusable offense in the cage, sure, but pretending you
05:24got hit with a knee to win a fight is possibly even worse.
05:2724. Husamar Paul Harris
05:29The name Husamar Paul Harris remains a prominent one in MMA circles, mainly due to his awful habit
05:34of holding on to submissions a little longer after his opponent's tap. Seriously, this wasn't
05:38just a one-off instance. Paul Harris did it for years, whether he was cranking on legs or a tight
05:43kimono. Even after the UFC cut him, he moved to World Series of Fighting, won a title, and got
05:47stripped for trying to rip Jake Shields' arm off despite the tap. Nobody knows for sure why he does
05:51it, whether it's out of genuine malice or just a habit he can't shake.
05:54It's all over!
05:57And once again, Paul Harris maintains the hold. Clearly the talent is coming, and the corner
06:05of Jake Shields, they are furious.
06:07Either way, Paul Harris is one of the sport's biggest villains, that's for sure.
06:1123. Ryan Garcia
06:12His public image might have gone through quite a few radical shifts in recent years, but
06:16the Ryan Garcia experience has certainly been interesting. That much is clear.
06:28Despite his personal struggles and erratic behavior, he showed up on fight night and
06:31pulled off an upset for the ages by beating the heavily favored Devin Haney. The problem?
06:35Well, he tested positive for the banned substance Osterian in his post-fight PED test. He also
06:39came in 3.2 pounds over the 140-pound limit, which might not sound like much, but it does
06:44count. In the end, his most famous win was overturned, but in reality, it also turned him
06:48into a much bigger star.
06:49They trying to play me, trying to take my victory. I never took Severus' life, never
06:53would.
06:5422. Chad Mendes
06:56Known best for his featherweight classics with Conor McGregor and Jose Ardo, Chad Mendes
07:00endeared himself to the MMA world thanks to his immense athleticism and one-shot knockout
07:04power.
07:05I've been a top-level competitor my entire life. So, you know, I've dealt with guys
07:09like that all the time. You know, I've seen it in the past. You know, I get in there, I
07:14deal with it, I beat them up, and you just go on with your life.
07:17So, unfortunately, he also found himself in hot water with USADA in 2016 after testing
07:22positive for GHRP-6, a banned peptide associated with growth hormone stimulation. Mendes accepted
07:28responsibility publicly and stated the substance came from a skin cream prescribed for psoriasis
07:31treatment.
07:46Bans were split down the middle on whether they believed him or not, but in the end, Mendes
07:50lost a chunk of his prime as a result, never truly reaching peak performance again.
07:5421. Yoel Romero
07:55While we could talk about quite a few instances of rule bending in Yoel Romero's past, let's
08:00focus on his showdown with Tim Kennedy and the incident known as Stoolgate.
08:03So, at the end of the round, the round ends, you're sitting on the corner, the round's
08:07supposed to begin, Tim Kennedy's standing up, and he's like, what's going on here? He
08:12thinks maybe the fight's over, and you're still sitting down.
08:14He wanted!
08:15He wanted the fight to be over.
08:16Yeah!
08:17Yoel, due to his size and explosiveness, needs to conserve his stamina more than most
08:21fighters. Tim Kennedy was really putting it on him as the fight wore on, dropping him
08:24in the second, and so, in between rounds, Romero's corner did something quite creative.
08:28They applied excessive vaseline on Romero's face, giving him an extra 30 or so seconds
08:32to sit there while it was removed. He took the rest, charged out for round three, and
08:36KO'd Kennedy in a violent burst. Romero denied any ill intent, but of course he would say
08:40that.
08:40So, you're saying that that was not a ploy in order to get you more rest?
08:44No!
08:47No!
08:47No!
08:48No!
08:49For sure!
08:49Number 20.
08:50Alistair Overeem.
08:51Judging by the physique he's maintained throughout his career, one can rightfully wonder whether
08:55Alistair Overeem has taken performance-enhancing drugs or not.
08:58It is a genetic thing. You know, my body just doesn't hold any fat. My fat percentage is
09:03really low, that's why my muscles jump out.
09:05Those questions have merit. Prior to a heavyweight title bout against then-champion Junior Dos
09:09Santos, in 2012, Overeem failed a random drug test, despite previously claiming that he
09:14was drug-free and would pass his tests. He was suspended nine months and his bout with
09:18Dos Santos was scrapped.
09:19There's obviously an issue, you know, and the number of 14 to 1 that's been reported
09:23online of testosterone to epitestosterone is obviously there's something going on.
09:28More recently, a unanimous decision win against Badr Hari in 2022 at a Glory kickboxing event
09:33was changed to a no contest after he tested positive for a banned substance in a B-sample.
09:37He has since been suspended for one year by Glory.
09:40Number 19.
09:41Hector Lombard.
09:42Known for his knockout power, this MMA fighter found himself in hot water after defeating Josh
09:47Berkman at UFC 182. Originally awarded a unanimous decision victory for Lombard, it was soon
09:53overturned after it was announced he tested positive for an anabolic steroid in a test
09:57he took after the fight. Subsequently, the fight's outcome was ruled a no contest. He was handed
10:01a one-year suspension and his bout scheduled against Rory McDonald at UFC 186 was scrapped.
10:06Although he stated he didn't knowingly put the substance in his body, surprisingly, unlike other
10:10fighters on this list, Lombard did not appeal and ultimately accepted his punishment.
10:20Number 18.
10:21Canelo Alvarez.
10:22Set to take on Gennady Golovkin in a rematch, the whole bout had to be scrapped after
10:26Saul Canelo Alvarez failed two drug tests. He had tested positive for clenbuterol,
10:31a performance-enhancing drug, twice back in February 2018. Claiming innocence,
10:35he placed the blame on meat he ate, which he believed was contaminated. But it was to no
10:38avail as he still received the six-month suspension.
10:40That is a real fact though, is that one particular substance he tested positive for exists in meat.
10:46Even after Alvarez and his team submitted DNA evidence, the suspension remained intact.
10:51Although he is considered one of boxing's biggest stars, and while it is never frequently mentioned,
10:55the incident is not a good look for his legacy.
10:58Number 17.
10:59Jarrell Miller.
10:59Despite being undefeated in 26 fights, Jarrell Miller had shown a frequent inability to submit
11:04clean drug tests prior to fights. His most notable infraction took place prior to his
11:09bout against Anthony Joshua in 2019. Miller had failed three different drug tests and was replaced
11:14by Andy Ruiz Jr. Miller was also at one point supposed to fight Jerry Forrest, but Miller would
11:19yet again test positive for a banned substance and the bout was ultimately scrapped. Despite these
11:24mishaps, Miller has reiterated he has never knowingly taken performance-enhancing drugs.
11:28Ain't nobody gonna be more outraged than me.
11:30Number 16.
11:31Sean Shirk.
11:32The winner of the interim championship will fight Sean Shirk for the steroid championship
11:41in March or April or whatever it may be.
11:43In 2006, Sean the muscle shark Shirk made a splash after moving to the lightweight division,
11:48capturing UFC gold at UFC 64 against Kenny Florian. However, his reign atop the division would be
11:53brief. Despite winning his first title defense at UFC 73 against Hermes Franca,
11:58Shirk would test positive for an anabolic steroid, Nandrolone, and was found to have unusually
12:02elevated levels of testosterone. Although an appeal by Shirk reduced his initial suspension from 12 to
12:086 months, he was stripped of his title. I think the title was taken from me wrongfully. Even though
12:13Shirk would eventually return to competition and get an immediate title shot against new champion BJ
12:18Penn at UFC 84, Shirk would go on to lose the bout by way of TKO.
12:22Number 15.
12:23Thiago Silva.
12:24Like many MMA fighters on this list, this light heavyweight got his career off to an electrifying
12:29start, winning his first 13 fights. Unfortunately, Silva's troubles began after UFC 125.
12:35His unanimous decision win over Brandon Vera was overturned after it was discovered Silva provided
12:41a false urine sample. Silva admitted his wrongdoing and the fight was changed to a no contest.
12:45His next fight scheduled at UFC 130 against Quinton Rampage Jackson was scrapped. He was suspended for a
12:51year and he forfeited a part of the earnings from his win. Even upon returning, Silva would go on to
12:56fail yet another drug test at another UFC event and was handed a six-month suspension. Ultimately,
13:01his run in the UFC would come to an end after disturbing video footage of him was released in 2014.
13:05No one wanted to touch him. He was considered a virus. No, we don't want to be near him. We
13:11don't
13:11know if it's true or not true, but we don't want to take a chance.
13:14Number 14.
13:16Dillian White.
13:16This boxer has failed a number of drug tests over his career. The first in 2012 saw him spend over
13:21two years on the sidelines. The second in 2019 came back as inconclusive and White was able to
13:26return to the ring in a matter of months. Recently, as he was set to face Anthony Joshua on August
13:3112th,
13:31irregularities were found in a pre-fight drug screening. The bout was scratched and as of the
13:36time of writing, White is seeking to prove his innocence and clear his name.
13:39Number 3.
13:40Vanderlei Silva.
13:41Known for his exciting fighting style and hard-hitting knockout power, Brazil's Vanderlei
13:45the axe murderer Silva would soon develop a much less admirable reputation in 2014.
13:50Prior to his scheduled fight at UFC 174, a representative from the Nevada State Athletic
13:56Commission appeared at Silva's gym in Las Vegas to conduct a random drug test. Upon realizing who the
14:01person was, Silva asked the rep if he could speak to his manager. Only, he didn't go speak to his
14:05manager. He actually fled the scene. It was later revealed during Silva's hearing that he left because
14:12he didn't want the person to find out he was taking diuretics, a banned substance which is
14:16frequently used as a means to conceal the presence of performance-enhancing drugs in one system.
14:20Not only was his scheduled bout cancelled, but he was also fined $70,000 and banned from competing for
14:25three years.
14:27Number 12.
14:28Abner Maris.
14:28On August 13, 2011, a very controversial boxing match took place between Abner Maris and Joseph
14:34Ekbeko. Despite winning the bout, his performance raised many eyebrows due to the number of low
14:38blows Maris hit Ekbeko with. It's estimated he hit him with between 15 to 20 low blows.
14:44Another low blow.
14:46That left hook continues to fall well below the belt line for Abner Maris.
14:52Many were surprised at how referee Russell Mora did not penalize Maris for his conduct.
14:57Despite a number of warnings, the referee did not deduct a single point from Maris.
15:11Upon reviewing the fight, several promoters and the Nevada State Athletic Commission called
15:16for an immediate rematch, which Maris went on to win.
15:19Number 11.
15:19John Jones. At one point he was the UFC's biggest superstar, and it all went downhill.
15:25During his reign as the light heavyweight champion, Jones was a controversial figure
15:28as a result of his conduct outside of the octagon. And the following incident is just
15:32one part of that. After his rematch with rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, which saw him reclaim
15:38the light heavyweight title, it was discovered that he had tested positive for the steroid
15:42tyrinobal. The match result was changed to a no contest and he was subsequently handed a 15-month
15:47suspension by USADA. This, along with having to withdraw from UFC 200 previously as a result of
15:52a failed drug test, tarnished Jones' reputation.
15:55I'm really sorry about this happening. The fight result was changed to a no contest and he was
16:00subsequently handed a 15-month suspension by USADA. Although a minor change in USADA's rules would
16:05have cleared Jones today, it certainly leaves a large blemish on his otherwise outstanding career.
16:10I'm not concerned about this. I'm not concerned about this affecting my legacy at all.
16:15Number 10, George St. Pierre.
16:24Alright, so to be clear, this wasn't George St. Pierre's fault, but this is more so on his
16:28corner man, Phil Nurse. In between rounds during his title fight against BJ Penn at UFC 94, Nurse could
16:34be seen applying Vaseline on GSP's face and then his back, the latter of which is not permitted.
16:39What were they rubbing on you? What was going on?
16:41I didn't know what happened because I was in the fight, so when you're in a fight, you don't realize
16:45what happened. Watching the fight, one could think that Penn clearly was experiencing some difficulty
16:50getting any hold or control over St. Pierre from the bottom. After losing the fight, Penn and his
16:55team requested that the Nevada State Athletic Commission conduct an investigation on the matter.
16:59Because we had the pre-bought warning and the commission members did catch him greasing,
17:05I wish that they did actually walk across and tell me like, hey man, you better stay off your
17:10back, man, this guy's greased, you know, your arm bars and your triangles, they're gonna be worthless.
17:14Dubbed Greasegate, an investigation and hearing took place, but nothing came from either,
17:18as the commission came to the conclusion that the application of Vaseline didn't impact the outcome
17:22of the fight.
17:23In BJ Penn entry to the octagon, when he's walking to the octagon, you can see how I cheat. I
17:30hire a man
17:32to kiss BJ Penn on the mouth on his way to the octagon and at that precise moment, BJ Penn
17:38lost all his
17:39strength and all his focus and the fight was mine. So if I cheat, yes, but not with the Vaseline.
17:46Number nine, Shane Mosley.
17:56Back in 2007, a report from Sports Illustrated included several unnamed sources going on record
18:02saying that boxer Shane Mosley used performance enhancing drugs leading up to his fight against
18:06Oscar De La Hoya, which he won. In response, Mosley went on to admit that he indeed took steroids,
18:11but did so unknowingly, even though there's footage of him stating otherwise.
18:15Did you know you were taking EPO, yes or no?
18:22Yes.
18:23Mosley's take is that he was told by his trainer,
18:25Daryl Hudson, to take supplements from Victor Conti,
18:28founder and head of Bay Area Laboratory Cooperative.
18:31Hudson urged Mosley to take these supplements, which were steroids,
18:34which used under the pseudonyms The Cream and The Clear.
18:37Conti and several others, however, claim that Mosley knew that he was taking steroids.
18:41I came around the desk, and he stepped back over here, and we sat knee-to-knee,
18:46and I basically showed him specifically how to inject EPO.
18:51Mosley launched a defamation suit against Conti and his company, which was dismissed.
18:55Number eight, Anderson Silva.
18:57Are you going home to my brother today?
18:58Yeah, see you. Good luck, buddy.
19:00Good luck.
19:00Say hi for your family, right?
19:01No, no Viagra.
19:02No, no, no, just my points in your face.
19:07Anderson Silva is considered one of the greatest to ever step into the octagon,
19:10but his legacy will forever be tainted because of this incident.
19:13After his unanimous decision victory over Nick Diaz in 2015,
19:17it was revealed that Silva had tested positive for anabolic steroids during a random
19:21out-of-competition test, which took place prior to the bout with Diaz,
19:25and then tested positive yet again during another test for an illegal substance.
19:28You're sticking to your word that you're clean, that you never used performance-enhancing drugs?
19:33No, nothing. Never in my life.
19:35Never in your life?
19:36First of all, because...
19:37How did you fail again?
19:38Silva denied having taken any performance-enhancing drugs.
19:41His defense? That the samples for his test were tainted after using Viagra.
19:44What was in the supplement was a sexual enhancement supplement,
19:50and the reason I didn't go to the doctors is because this particular supplement,
19:55they don't have here in the US or in Brazil.
19:58My friend brought it from Thailand, and that's why I was taking that.
20:02The Nevada State Athletic Commission didn't buy it, and he was suspended a year,
20:06fined $380,000, and his win against Diaz was changed to a no contest.
20:20This pro wrestler turned MMA fighter certainly left his mark in the UFC,
20:25but his last fight will not be so fondly remembered.
20:27After taking an almost five-year hiatus from the sport,
20:30Lesnar would make his anticipated return to the Octagon at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt.
20:35Lesnar dominated the majority of the fight en route to a unanimous decision victory.
20:39However, it was revealed that Lesnar had failed two pre-fight drug tests and tested positive for
20:44clomiphene, an anti-estrogen agent that can raise testosterone levels and counter effects of steroid use.
20:49Prohibited by the UFC's anti-doping policy,
20:52Lesnar was suspended a year and was slapped a fine of $250,000, which he reportedly has yet to pay.
20:586. Jake LaMotta
20:59LaMotta was a fan favorite in boxing and is often best known for having been portrayed by actor Robert
21:04De Niro in the Martin Scorsese classic Raging Bull.
21:07What do you think you're doing out there?
21:09Huh?
21:10Go slow, that's all.
21:11What are you doing out there?
21:12What some people might not know about LaMotta, however, was that he once threw away a match.
21:16He could beat all the Sugar Ray Robinsons and the Tony De Niros in the world,
21:20but he ain't gonna get a shot at that title, not without us, he ain't.
21:23Prior to facing Billy Fox in 1947, he cut a deal with the Mafia where in exchange for purposefully
21:29losing the fight, they would set him up for a title shot.
21:41LaMotta did as he was told and took a dive in the fourth round.
21:44After an investigation into his victory and when LaMotta would later admit wrongdoing,
21:48he was suspended indefinitely by the New York State Athletic Commission,
21:51and he only wound up getting his title shot 10 fights later.
21:54The end comes dramatically in the 10th round when Serdan cannot answer the bell.
21:58His left arm, injured in the fall in the first round, proves Serdan's undoing,
22:02and Jake LaMotta is the new middleweight champion.
22:04Number five, Mike Kyle.
22:05Having earned himself a reputation as one of the dirtiest fighters of all time,
22:09Mike Kyle isn't doing himself any favors.
22:11Uh, I apologize for my mistakes if I've ever, you know, for the people I hurt,
22:16but like I said, I wouldn't take it back because all it's done is made me more mature,
22:20and, uh, you know, all the adversity is for a reason.
22:24He's done everything you shouldn't do, but one moment is most often notoriously remembered.
22:29At WEC 20 back in 2006, Kyle threw an illegal soccer kick against his opponent, Brian Olsen.
22:39Olsen was knocked out and to make matters even worse, he wouldn't stop punching Olsen,
22:43even though he was unconscious to the point where not one, but two refs had to pull him off.
22:47He was immediately disqualified and suspended indefinitely.
22:51Number four, Antonio Margarito.
22:53After his boxing match against the aforementioned Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito was getting his
22:57hands wrapped. Mosley's trainer, Nazeem Richardson, noticed a plaster-like substance
23:01being used over the fighter's hands.
23:03There was such a distraction about the tape on the wrist. You know, that could be the fake album.
23:08I'll show you this to give you something else.
23:10So I checked the patent, and when I checked the patent, it felt hard.
23:13Richardson requested that Margarito's hands be rewrapped, and they were.
23:16Although Margarito went on to lose the fight,
23:18a hearing was still held to deal with the matter which took place prior to the fight.
23:21There's a big left hook. Why not stop it now?
23:25And there's the right towel from the corner, and Shane Mosley has annihilated Antonio Margarito.
23:31Despite claiming ignorance, both Margarito and the trainer responsible for wrapping the fighter's
23:35hands, Javier Capetillo had their boxing licenses revoked for one year for the incident.
23:40When it happened, when I was alone, I asked thousands of questions,
23:44but I've never felt the advantage wrong. I don't know.
23:49Is it because I didn't hit the knee?
23:51Number three, TJ Dillashaw.
23:53Oh yeah, the guy's on everything. He's on everything.
23:57TJ? Yeah, I'm on everything. They test me every day, so come on, I'm on everything.
24:02Funny, you're the one that showed everyone how to do it on Team Alpha, man.
24:05Aiming to become the third person to become a champion in two weight divisions,
24:08UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw challenged then flyweight champion Henry Cejudo in a super
24:14fight back in 2019, which he lost the fight by TKO in just 30 seconds. But the worst was yet
24:19to come
24:19for Dillashaw. Months later, it was revealed that he tested positive for recombinant human
24:24erythropoietin, also known as EPO, a hormone which increases red blood cell production in the body.
24:29You know what I mean? That's what it is. No one cares about why I did it because
24:33they're all excuses. Everyone has one and they all stink.
24:36While Dillashaw claimed the purpose for resorting to this tactic came after becoming anemic due to
24:40a drastic weight cut to 125 pounds, he was stripped of his title and accepted a two-year ban from
24:45the
24:45sport of MMA. His legacy and reign in the bantamweight division forever tarnished.
24:49I pushed my body to the extreme, man. I mean, no excuses. I made the mistake of wanting to do
24:56something that hadn't been done and, you know, stole my soul to the devil and now I gotta build
25:02myself back up and deal with it, right? Number two, Vitor Belfort.
25:07I mean, everybody's doping, man, UFC. Even John Jones can fight in different organizations,
25:10so they can change a fight? You guys, come on, man.
25:14This knockout artist was caught testing positive for the illegal substance for hydroxy testosterone
25:19after his fight with Dan Henderson at Pride 32. Claiming he was unaware that the supplement he
25:24took contained the substance, he was still handed a nine-month suspension and fined $10,000. Although
25:29he's only been caught once, this hasn't stopped pundits from claiming Belfort has been using
25:33performance-enhancing drugs throughout his entire career. Since the UFC banned the use of
25:38testosterone replacement therapy in 2014, many have pointed to Belfort's change in physique.
25:43And he's a guy who was known to take things. I mean, he took things early in his career.
25:47Remember when he fought Randy when he was 19? He was 240 pounds.
25:51Yeah, exactly. His neck started at the top of his head.
25:54According to a report from Deadspin, a test for his fight against then light heavyweight champion
25:59John Jones at UFC 152 revealed he had high elevated levels of testosterone and that the UFC ignored it.
26:05The UFC has denied his claim.
26:07Vitor Belfort was on steroids when I fought him. The UFC was very well,
26:14aware, way before the fight. They did nothing to penalize him. They let the fight go on,
26:21knowing that I was fighting a guy on steroids, which is a hazard to my life.

26:371. Louis Resto
26:39On the night of June 16, 1983, boxers Billy Ray Collins and Louis Resto squared off
26:44at Madison Square Garden. For ten rounds, they went back and forth, but Collins looked
26:48practically unrecognizable after having taken significant damage.
26:57When the match concluded, Resto went to shake the hands of Collins' corner. One of the
27:01cornermen, who is Collins' father, noticed something odd with Resto's gloves.
27:14He realized there was a
27:15lack of padding, and it was later confirmed by a referee. The New York State Athletic
27:19Commission went on to suspend Resto and his trainer, Carlos Lewis, and both men even served
27:24prison sentences as well.
27:2618 days after what had briefly appeared to be his greatest victory,
27:31Louis Resto's boxing career was over.
27:34But the consequences of that night in the ring for Louis and so many others were just beginning.
27:41Resto would never box again. Sadly, Billy Ray Collins' eye was damaged beyond repair and was
27:47told he would never fight again and would suffer from depression before he passed away in a car accident.
27:52But who would you consider to be the biggest cheater in combat sports history? Let us know in the comments
