00:00You know, this story with gambling now, we mentioned it in the last hour here.
00:05Now you have this story here with Bryce Harper and FanDuel and DraftKings.
00:10Now, again, it's come up now that there was a separate party here
00:14that ended up putting a video together, and they ended up sending it to this guy.
00:19And there was a gentleman who had lost all of his money,
00:22had spent over $2 million, had lost his home,
00:25and was talking about committing suicide.
00:28Philly star Bryce Harper recorded a personal video
00:32at the request of FanDuel VIP hosts per Philly Sport.
00:37The client ended up losing nearly $2 million, his house,
00:41and police had to stop him from committing suicide.
00:44Major League Baseball and Harper had nothing to say for it.
00:48And at the end of the day, these stories are becoming more and more.
00:53We just come off the heels of this Brendan Sorsby story
00:57where a kid lost his eligibility and his opportunity to play.
01:00Thank God he still has an opportunity to potentially go to the National Football League
01:04and next year's 2027 draft.
01:07But if it wasn't the case, here was a kid that was going to lose his eligibility,
01:11the nil that he had signed $4.1 million with Texas Tech Red Raiders.
01:15This kid could have lost everything.
01:17And we go back to the conversation again of what's the accountability for these sports leagues?
01:24What's the accountability for college football?
01:26What's the accountability for the NFL, Major League Baseball, the NBA, and the NHL?
01:31I mean, you have to have accountability here.
01:34If you're going to sell to the public the opportunity to gamble,
01:38and for people to be able to lose their fortune,
01:41you have to understand the collateral damage that you're now getting in bed with here.
01:45And this was some of the things that people were very concerned about
01:49when the opportunity for gambling to become legalized happened.
01:53And now, guess what?
01:55These organizations and these pro sports leagues are knee-deep in it.
02:00The National Football League's owner, Bob Kraft, of the New England Patriots,
02:06is a part owner with Adam Schefter in a company that's a sports gaming app.
02:12And these are the same folks that are telling you, on one hand,
02:16hey, we don't want our players being involved in gambling.
02:19And on the other hand, you've got a league that is knee-deep in it.
02:22You've got a professional football team in Las Vegas,
02:25and also you've got the National Championship game that's going to be
02:28at that same facility in Las Vegas this coming year
02:31for the National Championship game in college football.
02:35My question is, are you trying to get your cake and eat it at the same time
02:39when we're talking about gambling?
02:41It's a great way for teams to make money.
02:45It's a great way for players in each respected league to make additional money.
02:50The collateral damage is here, dude.
02:53That was really a sad sign here.
02:55And Major League Baseball had no response to it
02:59when it came to that video being sent to that guy.
03:02So you sent him a video, and the guy was thinking of committing suicide,
03:06and you're cool with that, and Major League Baseball or any other sports league
03:12has no comment to be made on how you're getting people addicted to gambling?
03:19I don't know how, again, and I mentioned the phrase blood money.
03:23I don't know how some of these leagues are not in a position here
03:27where you're sitting there reevaluating yourself
03:29on how you're selling this to the American public.
03:32You know, we mentioned it before.
03:34This is the same line of what happened with the alcohol ads back in the day
03:39and the tobacco ads, getting people addicted to tobacco
03:42and getting people addicted to alcohol.
03:45You're now getting people addicted to gambling.
03:48So at the end of the day, what do these organizations do?
03:52There are more of them, these apps.
03:55FanDuel and DraftKings are a major part of the National Football League.
03:59Look at all of these sports leagues that you have.
04:03Look at all of the fantasy football leagues.
04:05And by the way, I don't play fantasy football.
04:08That's really not my deal.
04:09But I get how much fun it is.
04:11It keeps you engaged.
04:13You want to know why television ratings and gambling has helped.
04:16People don't realize this.
04:18You know why gambling is a major part of the NFL?
04:23Well, when you've got a 37-0 blowout,
04:25and you've got a guy that you've got prop bets on,
04:28on whether or not he's going to score a touchdown
04:30or he's going to get 100 yards in receptions
04:33or whether he's going to gain 100 yards rushing
04:35or throw for two touchdowns,
04:37that's what you have people doing now.
04:39That's why the television ratings on these blowouts
04:42don't go anywhere else.
04:44And again, I think college football
04:46and a lot of people have a lot of issues right now
04:49when it comes to professional sports gambling.
04:53So make no mistake about it.
04:55You see a video like Bryce Harper
04:57and what Harper's doing with that,
04:59and you see Major League Baseball,
05:01make no mistake about it.
05:03College football, the NFL, and everyone else
05:07has to have a come-to-Jesus conversation
05:09when it comes to talking about gambling and sports.
05:13It is now becoming a problem.
05:16And you're going to see more of the Brandon Soresby stories, folks.
05:19And you're going to see more of the Brandon Soresby stories.
