From jokingly telling Brett Goldstein to go back to 'Ted Lasso' to delivering a powerful performance, Jessica Williams takes us behind the scenes of 'Shrinking.' She discusses the importance of Gaby's confrontation and how it felt like an 'unleashing' for the character.

00:00Basically, I was telling Brett to leave and go do Ted Lasso again.
00:07And what a cool way to do it.
00:08I was like, you have to go do, you have to go write for Ted Lasso, bro.
00:11Get out of here.
00:13But there was this talk in season two, because that is when it's big, big, big movements
00:20for Alice and Jimmy of forgiving Brett's character, Louis.
00:25For me, I did not feel like Gabby would feel that way, the way those two are allowed to
00:31feel.
00:31And that actually happens all the time.
00:33What a gift to be able to play a scene like that.
00:36And I think Brett wrote that episode.
00:37I think Zach Braff directed that episode.
00:41Our crew was very silent when I came in to do that scene and just held, they held the
00:48room for me in a way, because normally we're joking and they're super professional, but
00:52we're normally doing bits.
00:53It just felt like unleashing.
00:57It just felt like something that this character needed to do.
01:01And I think hopefully people watch it and they feel they can relate to that.
01:06And they're not like, why is this girl telling this guy to get out of here and do Ted Lasso?
01:09What a dick.
01:10You know, it's like, no, that guy killed her best friend.
01:12Any way I thought about somebody killing my best friend for Gabby, who was such a heart-led
01:16person, I was like, no, she would want this guy out of her face.
01:20Brett is someone who is really giving.
01:23You know, he created the show.
01:24He writes on the show.
01:25He's in the writer's room every day.
01:27On top of that, he does stand-up.
01:28He does all these things.
