If you are studying the German language you will encounter some of the 9 Types of German Learners. Which group do you belong to?

00:00Learning German always starts with reason. Sometimes it's love, sometimes it's money
00:04and sometimes it's just a really bad life decision you made after your third
00:08beer. Today we are going through the types of people who learn German and the
00:13questionable reasons they do it for. Let's begin with the most dangerous one.
00:17Number one, the I fell in love with a German type. The unfortunate people whose
00:21heart fell for a German have to embrace for a life without romance, at least in
00:26the conventional sense. Oh, look at der sĂŒĂŸe Katze. It's die Katze, not der Katze.
00:32Okay, can you give me das Essen die Katze? No, no, no. If you say it like that, it's der
00:37Katze. Das Essen der Katze.
00:39That doesn't make any sense. They think they're learning a love language.
00:42They're actually signing up for linguistic emotional abuse. Ohne dich kann ich nicht sein. Ohne dich.
00:56Number two, the economic opportunist. Word has spread across Eastern and
01:01Southern Europe that Germany is an employee's heaven. 30 days of paid holiday,
01:06parental leave, paid sick leave days. What do you want more? They think learning
01:10German would get them a high paying tech job. Turns out they're the only ones who
01:15still know how to work with their hands. So they end up in construction. Good thing
01:18that there are limitless construction sites in Germany with endless timelines.
01:23Number three, the language nerd. He loves all the languages. Knows usually between 10
01:28and 20 different ones. But German has a very special place in his heart for its
01:33extreme clarity and precision. He's one of the few people who finds German
01:37beautiful. The logic, the structure. To him it's like a puzzle. They started
01:42learning for fun. Now they're in a mental relationship with der die das.
01:46Number four, the heritage hunter. In the last centuries millions of Germans
01:50migrated all across the world and many today feel a desire to return to their
01:55roots. My great-great-grandmother was from Bavaria. I just want to reconnect with
02:00my culture you know. He loves visiting Germany and feels every time like going to
02:03Disneyland. Incredible. It's unbelievable man. They came to rediscover their roots.
02:09They left realizing their ancestors probably fled for the same reason. The austerity.
02:17Number five, the exchange student. He's coming to Germany to do a semester here and immerse
02:23himself into the language. And of course to save on tuition fees. He's really trying and
02:27is devoted. But every time he tries to practice his German, all Germans just want to switch
02:32to English. Hallo. Ich komme aus Toronto. Ah, you're from Canada. Welcome. We can't talk in English.
02:37That's quicker. You see, Germans won't talk to you in German unless you're already good
02:43at it. And you can actually learn German without losing your mind. And that's where
02:47we come in. Learn German with Anja, me and many other creators have come together to
02:52create a German learning course in video form. You can learn a whole level of German A1, A2, B1 or
03:00B2
03:00in just 10 weeks. Every week you'll get new video units to work on, which are of course accompanied
03:06by exercises. It's weird, it's funny and you will learn German without even noticing it. Recently we
03:13have even added an accompanying app and group challenges where you can interact and exchange
03:18with other students. So what are you waiting for? Go to the link in the description and check out all
03:23the details. And if you sign up this week, you'll even get a juicy discount. Moving on to number six,
03:29the expat who thought it was optional. Some big company lured him to Germany because of
03:33the FachkrÀftemangel. He doesn't need German for the job. But what they didn't tell him
03:37is that at the BĂŒrgeramt nobody speaks English. They told him he'll just pick up German naturally.
03:42But he moved to Berlin. Everybody speaks English here. Well, it's been five years and he's finally
03:47starting A1. He still has a long way to go. If you want to learn German, don't move to Berlin.
03:52Or you'll end up just like him, crying every time they get a letter from the Finanza.
03:58Number seven, the Rammstein fan. A loyal and often overlooked group of German learners are fans of
04:05Germany's most famous band Rammstein. They don't want to learn the whole language,
04:10just enough to understand what rocks they're actually singing about. They think they're learning
04:15poetry. Stein. They're actually learning how to scream angrily about fire and pain. They don't
04:22learn much, but they are still way ahead of the Berlin expert. Number eight, the one who loves
04:28German culture just a bit too much. The German Reich was the best empire that ever existed. The wrong
04:35side has one, you know. Look at the world now. Disgusting. Weak. For him, everything was better back
04:43in the day. He watches countless hours of World War II documentaries and YouTube videos and prays
04:48that one day a new FĂŒhrer will return. When he returns, I will be ready. Jawohl!
04:56Number nine, the existential one. A very small but persistent group is learning German
05:00for its rich old literature. He's learning German to read Nietzsche in the original. His favorite word
05:06is Weltschmerz. They don't learn German to speak it. They learn it to suffer with purpose.
05:11So, whatever your reason for learning German is, love, career, culture, remember,
05:17you don't have to do this alone. Radical Living and Learn German with Anja are here to help.
05:23Only one thing left to do. Go to the link in the description and check out our courses. Check it
05:27out!
