00:04My name is Emma Wilding. My son Taylor Connors was killed 9th of June last year.
00:14He'd finished work. He was riding to Winchester to see a friend. He wasn't riding erratically,
00:24he wasn't speeding, he was paying attention. A cyclist who I later found out was one of the first
00:32on the scene of the collision commented in her statement just how conscientious and careful
00:40he was when he was overtaking her. The accident occurred when he was pulling out of a junction
00:50and he was hit by a van. The van wasn't exceeding the speed limit, neither was Taylor. It was
01:05ruled as a tragic accident. That said, there may have been things that were delivered on
01:14this course that could have prevented that accident from happening. And that's why I'm
01:21here, I suppose, to tell Taylor's story and hopefully prevent this happening in another
01:31family living the, I suppose, nightmare that we are since he's gone.
01:43CBT prepares them to be legally allowed on the road. This is an opportunity in a relaxed environment
01:50with peers to ask questions, to learn the nuances of riding a bike on the road and to ask questions
01:58questions of very qualified, very safe police officers who are there to look after them on the road.
02:04If my son was still here, I'd expect him to be on this course.
02:10Being a young person in this world is quite hard. They are willing to learn, they do listen.
02:17We owe it to them to provide these opportunities to learn in a safe environment.
02:23The team that are organising this course, they're doing it because they care so much.
02:29I'm here because I care. I don't want another family to go through what we've had to go through.
02:39We want to leave this world better than we found it.
02:42Taylor was endlessly kind to anyone, anyone he met. And I'm here to continue that legacy.
02:58And I think that's something that everyone, everyone should try and do. Be kind.
03:05Be kind, be considerate when you're out riding. Think about yourself, but think about other people as well.
03:14Look out for things, take your time, take a breath. But yeah, just be kind.
03:20And then we are done.
03:48Step four and select those two times, take your time down.
