00:00I saw this yesterday, and I think it's been since Saban's second year that Bama has finished no
00:05lower than fifth in the composite recruiting rankings. Now, recruiting rankings aren't
00:10everything, but I always tell people, if you're 25th, you're probably not a top five recruiting
00:16program. We can argue it's four better than seven and it's 12 better than 18 or whatever,
00:23but when you start getting these big spreads, it matters. I think there's only a handful of
00:28five stars left that haven't committed, and right now, people don't flip as much anymore, Bill,
00:31because I think some of these guys signed their NI deals beforehand. Bama is currently sitting at 50
00:37in the composite recruiting rankings. They have one, they're in like four four stars. I don't think
00:42it's possible for them to jump into the top five, maybe not even the top 10. Lift it or leave
00:49it,
00:50I mean, Kalen DeBoer, this run with him might be on life support after this year.
00:57I will give it, because he signed the extension, I'm going to leave it, but I would say
01:04three years from now, if they don't make a deep run into the playoff, I could see them
01:10looking elsewhere. It really reached a boiling point last year, obviously, after the Florida State
01:15loss, but once they beat Georgia, he was okay, and I think they did have a tough schedule. There's a
01:22little bit of an acceptance that it's not going to be like Saban again, but then again,
01:27you're Alabama, right? You should be able to recruit at a high level. It's not,
01:31we mentioned the Ohio State transition. Georgia went from Mark Rick to Kirby Smart,
01:36and there were a lot of things written probably by me that it would be really tough to do what
01:41Mark
01:42Rick did, and Kirby Smart has done it better. So you still have to be able to recruit at a
01:46high level.
01:47So I almost jumped out of my chair when you said 50th. I can't believe they're that low in the
01:51rankings. Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and lift that. I know he just signed a new extension, but
01:56of course, he didn't think that he was going to come in and do any better than Saban, but you
02:00expected him to kind of maintain that level for as long as he could, and I think we're three years
02:05out now, and now he's dropping out all the way to 50th in recruiting. That's terrible to hear.
02:10I mean, you are Alabama. You should be able to get these recruits in and signed, so I'm going to
02:15lift that. That's that right there. That hurt my heart a little bit, man. I'm going to lift it too
02:20because I know this. I think I know Ohio State's in the running for a guy out of Alabama, I
02:26think
02:26Michigan's, but there's been players that are going to the Big Ten now, Bill, that are getting plucked out
02:31of the state of Alabama, which that reversal never happened before, and I think that's the one thing
02:39where if he's not winning 10 games and winning a playoff game this year, people are going to be
02:43very upset, not just because of the fact that maybe you're not winning, but the recruiting and
02:48the perception that you're losing in-state talent to not Georgia, not LSU, but maybe some northern
02:54schools now, which NIL has kind of changed all of that.
