The International Criminal Court (ICC) has cancelled the status conference in the crimes against humanity case against former president Rodrigo Duterte, scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, saying there are currently no matters requiring the court’s attention before trial.

00:15In an announcement earlier today, July 10th, the ICC's Trial Chamber 3 said it had decided to cancel the conference
00:22after the parties and participants informed the court that they had no specific issues to raise
00:27at this stage of the proceedings.
00:30Status conferences are procedural hearings where judges discuss preparations for trial
00:35to address legal and administrative matters and ensure that both the prosecution and the defense
00:41are ready for the proceedings.
00:43Despite the cancellation, the ICC said the next status conference in the case remains scheduled for September 16th.
00:51Duterte's trial is expected to commence on November 30th.
