00:03This is actually a very, very important day for, I think, Italy, and also, of course, for the healthcare industry
00:10in Europe.
00:12The most favorable nation policy of the United States actually has massive ramifications on the European pharmaceutical industry,
00:20whether that is in production, whether that is in research and development, or whether that is in taxpaying jobs.
00:27It all influences every single country in Europe and, of course, also Italy.
00:34And we are here today to discuss how can we strengthen the pharmaceutical industry,
00:40how can we strengthen the economies of Europe and of Italy through investments into healthcare.
00:46I don't think it's about mitigation per se.
00:48I actually think that what we have learned through a lot of studies is that medicines is not a cost
00:55in the way that we discuss it today.
00:57It is actually an investment.
01:00And there's a lot of studies out there that certain treatments and certain medications actually offers a tremendous economic growth
01:07for countries.
01:08But we kind of pull it all together and think of it as a cost burden.
01:13I would like to argue that the innovative medicines and also the ones that I represent from Novo Nordisk actually
01:19makes a massive impact also on the economy,
01:22let alone for taxpaying jobs and let alone for building a strong, innovative pharma industry.
01:28The Italian market is massive, as you can imagine, in Europe.
01:31You're one of the biggest countries in Europe.
01:35So it's very, very important.
01:37And on top of that, actually, we have made massive production investments into Italy with the recent Catalan investment of
01:46$12 billion.
01:47One of those factories were actually in Anani outside Rome in Italy.
01:52So for us, Italy is very, very important.
