00:00After his kick was blocked, he scooped up the ball with one hand and he did something quite strange.
00:05He kicked it again.
00:07Well, that's coming back.
00:08It's the sort of thing Michael Dixon did all the time growing up playing Aussie rules football.
00:13So at first, everyone assumed that he just didn't know the rules.
00:17No, you can't kick it again.
00:20The officials threw a penalty flag, Michael's coach was dumbfounded,
00:24and the commentators chuckled, joking that Michael was just scared to run with the ball and get tackled.
00:29Well, just picking it up and running with it, how much fun is in that?
00:32I'm not sure you've got these big guys chasing you.
00:35But as the officials talked through the penalty call, something unexpected happened.
00:39There is no foul for illegally kicking the ball.
00:41See, as it turns out, Michael knew a little-known rule that the American commentators
00:46and some of the American officials didn't know about their own game.
00:50He knew that as long as he was still behind the line of scrimmage where the play starts,
00:54he was, in fact, allowed a second kick.
00:57The punter's heel was on the line of scrimmage at the time that he kicked the ball.
01:01That might have been one of the great places I've ever seen in the history of the league,
01:04and I've been around a lot longer than you guys, and I've seen a lot of football.
01:06I've never seen that happen before.
01:08I think he's a pretty darn good football player, man.
01:09I've never seen that happen before.
