00:00All right, we mentioned the Cowboys 30 years since their last Super Bowl.
00:04Let's see if there's a certain edge rusher on here
00:07who they may or may not have traded away
00:09that could impact the answer of how long that drought will continue.
00:13It is the top 10 list from Jeremy Fowler.
00:15We do these every day at 720 when they start coming out.
00:18It's my favorite list of the year,
00:20just being able to get the –
00:22getting to see where scouts, coaches, executives, everybody else
00:26have these players ranked,
00:28and specifically when you get to a position where there's a Cowboys player.
00:31It's like, all right, how much are they overrating them
00:33or underrating them or throwing shade
00:35or just trying to get a handle on where this is?
00:38So this used to be an exciting list for us
00:40because we would see where exactly was Micah Parsons.
00:43And now we're just going to look at it with sadness in our eyes
00:46of where exactly is Micah Parsons in terms of
00:49how much is going to hurt to see him on there.
00:51So before we start, where would you guess
00:53Micah Parsons is ranked on this list of top 10 edge rushers in the NFL?
00:593 to 5.
01:013 to 5, okay.
01:02Is there going to be a Cowboy mentioned anywhere,
01:06even in the receiving votes?
01:08No.
01:09Okay.
01:09Those are your two answers.
01:10We'll see if you're correct by the end of it.
01:12Top 10 edge rushers with honorable mentions after that.
01:15Number one is…
01:17Miles Garrett.
01:18Miles Garrett, the unanimous number one.
01:21Not a single vote for anybody else other than Miles Garrett.
01:24Highest ranking was one.
01:25Lowest ranking was one.
01:26Last year, he was ranked number one.
01:27He's on a tear.
01:29He owns this category right now.
01:32One write-up from an NFL coordinator said
01:33he doesn't get enough credit for just how powerful he is
01:36and how you feel that up close.
01:38Everyone talks about Aaron Donald's power,
01:40but Miles is just as strong.
01:42You had another NFL coordinator who said
01:43he's seen every type of help an offense can give.
01:45Slide to him.
01:46Chips from tight ends.
01:47And running backs only run plays away from him.
01:49And he has a game plan or counter for all of it.
01:52From a mental standpoint, it's really impressive.
01:55And an NFC executive added his ability to feel and navigate to the line
01:58without much wasted movement is elite.
02:01Slam dunk, no doubt about it.
02:02The number one is Miles Garrett.
02:03Number two, this is where the list begins.
02:06Yeah.
02:10I don't know how they're going to view TJ anymore.
02:13He is getting older.
02:15I really like the guy in Houston.
02:18Will Anderson?
02:19Yeah, I'll go him.
02:20Because this has been what?
02:22Would you say over the last five years,
02:25the top four have been,
02:27everybody agrees,
02:28the top four edge rushers in football
02:29in whatever order are TJ Watt,
02:31Miles Garrett,
02:32Micah Parsons,
02:33Nick Bosa.
02:33Generally.
02:34I mean, if you want to throw Max in there, I guess.
02:36Max was like,
02:37kind of has creeped up recently,
02:38but I would say consistently over the last five years,
02:40it's been those guys.
02:41Yeah.
02:41It's right around there.
02:42So, number two,
02:46Micah Parsons.
02:47Whoa.
02:47Highest ranking was two.
02:49Lowest ranking was five.
02:50His ranking last year was three.
02:52Parsons is so good,
02:53the write-up says on the field,
02:54that he jumped a spot in the ranking
02:56despite suffering an ACL tear in December.
02:58The tape is still that good.
03:01How good did you think his year was?
03:03Really good.
03:04I mean, when I watched him play,
03:06he was still Micah.
03:07It's just like the Dallas game
03:09is a perfect example of it.
03:10He wasn't able to get a sack in that game
03:14because Dak was getting rid of the ball fast,
03:16was sliding in the pocket,
03:17doing various things.
03:18So, it's easy to look at it and go,
03:20okay, he didn't have the impact he should have.
03:22He, if it was anybody else back there,
03:24if it wasn't a veteran quarterback back there
03:26who knows how to move around,
03:28he may have gotten eight sacks that game.
03:30Like, he was dominant in that game.
03:34The write-up here,
03:35a veteran NFL defensive coach says,
03:37elite burst and closing speed to make plays.
03:40He has the most rush versatility of the group,
03:43consistently wins over centers and guards and tackles.
03:45It doesn't matter where he is.
03:47An NFL coordinator said,
03:48there are two guys that never really get blocked in the NFL,
03:51and it's those two guys,
03:52Miles and Micah.
03:53You do what you can with movements and quick game,
03:55and it's not enough.
03:56Micah Parsons, number two.
03:58Does that sting a little bit?
03:59I think this is the highest he's ever been on the list.
04:02Yeah, sure.
04:03It stings a little bit.
04:05But I still think,
04:07I think Cowboy fans,
04:10a year removed from the trade,
04:12are kind of relieved.
04:14Right?
04:16Say, all right, we don't want to deal with this.
04:17He's a good player,
04:18a really good player,
04:19a great player.
04:20We don't want to deal with everything.
04:21So I don't think that it stings as much as it could have.
04:25It could have stung much more.
04:28By the way,
04:29if you are,
04:29yes, we're seeing all your texts right now that say,
04:32we're hearing a bunch of static.
04:33And so,
04:34if you're hearing static out there,
04:35we're reaching out.
04:36We're figuring it out.
04:37But,
04:37all right,
04:38number three on the list,
04:38the top ten edge rushers in the NFL.
04:41Number three is?
04:42Let's try for Will Anderson.
04:44Will Anderson is number three from the Houston Texans.
04:47Highest ranking is two.
04:48Lowest ranking is eight.
04:49He was eight last year,
04:50so this is a big jump.
04:51He was the guy on.
04:54Very good.
04:54He was the guy on a really good,
04:56good defense.
04:57And he was actually tied with somebody in the voting.
05:02But he won the tiebreaker by getting more top five votes.
05:06So whoever we name next actually tied in points with Will Anderson.
05:11But an NFC scout says,
05:13I still feel like he's underrated to a degree.
05:15I would actually agree.
05:16True three down force multiplier who demands attention
05:19and has the rare ability to elevate the play of teammates.
05:22Separate NFC scout said,
05:24combination of speed to power,
05:26more than his strength and effort.
05:28He's better than I expected,
05:29to be honest.
05:30So Will Anderson is number three.
05:32We had the two of the top three right here in our state.
05:35And then number one came from this state.
05:37Look at that.
05:38This is a pass rush factory.
05:39Yes, it is.
05:40Number four,
05:41who is technically number three,
05:42but lost a tiebreaker?
05:47Got lots of names you can throw out here.
05:50I do.
05:51I guess,
05:52I think they're going to defer to TJ still,
05:54even though they shouldn't.
05:56It is not TJ Watt.
05:59I'm surprised he's this high.
06:01You're surprised?
06:03I'm surprised.
06:05Aiden Hutchinson?
06:07Nope.
06:08Max Crosby.
06:10Oh.
06:11I love Max.
06:12I think Max is great.
06:14Another one from here.
06:15Yes.
06:16Given the way everything played out,
06:18and everything with the trade with Baltimore,
06:23and going back on it,
06:24and how everybody's like,
06:25I don't know if he's even worth the gamble.
06:27I figured league opinion on him must have been a little lower,
06:30and that they were thinking he was declining.
06:32But for him to finish tight as the third best edge rusher says a lot.
06:36You had one NFC exec who said he's a bad MF-er
06:39versus the run, the pass, whatever.
06:41He's a pain in the ass all game.
06:43If there's ever been in these articles a quote from Jerry Jones,
06:46that would be the one.
06:47You asked him about Max Crosby because he's a bad MF-er
06:50versus the run, the pass,
06:51whenever he's a pain in the ass all game.
06:53Yeah, I could see that being Jerry.
06:55If you're going to get a Jerry quote in any of these,
06:57that's what it is.
06:57He kind of said that to us when we asked him about Max last year.
07:00He kind of described him that way.
07:02An AFC executive said you're getting a complete body of work with Max.
07:05He does everything well, pass, rush, splash, plays,
07:08great against the run, high motor, tackles in the backfield.
07:11They don't mention this.
07:12I'm just adding this in here.
07:13He's also considered just like the tone setter, like the culture guy.
07:16He is in charge of the culture,
07:17and that's whatever your defense is and the energy behind it,
07:21like Max is driving a lot of that.
07:23So that's four of the ten here on the edge rusher list,
07:26the top ten list from Jeremy Fowler.
07:28Did running backs and cornerbacks.
07:30Now we're doing edge rushers on day three.
07:32Number five.
07:34Let's try TJ.
07:37Aiden Hutchinson.
07:38Detroit Lions.
07:40Hutchinson's unique skill set makes him a steady climber up the board,
07:43similar to Anderson.
07:44One NFL defensive coach said skilled with his hands,
07:47very good speed to power rush to keep offensive tackles off balance,
07:50and his superpower is his motor is nonstop.
07:56Hutchinson, they note, is the first player since 1982 to have 40 or more sacks
07:59and five or more interceptions in his first four NFL seasons.
08:03I did not realize he had five interceptions.
08:05No.
08:06And something that should be noted here.
08:08Those have got to be all tip balls, right?
08:10I would guess, yeah, or jumping up and doing something.
08:12We're through the top five now.
08:14We're going to number six.
08:15All the way through the top six.
08:18Every single person on this list who's in the top six got at least a top two vote.
08:23So that tells you how kind of smushed together all these names are.
08:26And if you want to go all the way down to eight, they got a top three vote.
08:32So number six here.
08:33We've already named.
08:34Outside of Max Crosby, they were all a very high first round pick.
08:42Yeah, because Will Anderson was top three.
08:44Micah was 12.
08:45Those are the top half.
08:47That's the middle.
08:48Miles Garrett was number one.
08:50Yeah.
08:50And then Aiden Hutchinson was number two, I think.
08:53Two or three, yeah.
08:53He was two because number one was Trayvon Walker.
08:55But so far, you've got Miles Garrett, Micah Parsons, Will Anderson, Max Crosby, Aiden Hutchinson.
08:59That's the top five.
09:00Also getting a highest ranking of two, a lowest ranking of ten, and up from nine last year.
09:05Who is number six?
09:07Up from nine?
09:09Yep.
09:11Oh, I couldn't even.
09:14I have no idea.
09:16So we've said that in the first four, Aiden Hutchinson didn't have it, but this now means
09:20with this player, five of the first six have a Texas connection.
09:24That's a hint for you.
09:28Huh.
09:29So either went to a school around here or maybe plays for Houston or Dallas.
09:36Who plays for Houston other than Will Anderson?
09:40I don't know.
09:42Houston Texans edge rusher, Daniil Hunter.
09:44Oh, God.
09:4531 years old.
09:46This year's voting served as an appreciation of sorts for Hunter's career.
09:49Daniil Hunter has been.
09:50You want to talk about a guy who, if you go, I can't see it right now.
09:54I think he had three sacks his entire career at LSU.
09:57He's the guy that if you want to pick somebody who's got traits but didn't have a lot of production
10:01in college as an edge rusher, when we talk about Keldrick Falk or Mikel Williams or somebody
10:06like that, Daniil Hunter is who you have to point to and go, well, maybe he could do that.
10:09An NFC executive said one of the best power rushers of all time.
10:14Another NFL coordinator said, take a look at the guy's career production.
10:16There can't be a more underrated dominant player since I've been in the NFL.
10:20His silent tape was unreal.
10:22He's a total force.
10:24The only other guy that I would say, because I do think Daniil Hunter is incredibly underrated.
10:28The only other guy that I would say doesn't get thought of for just how dominant he is
10:32in the same time period would probably be Mike Evans would be the one because I don't
10:36ever think of Mike Evans as being, he's always the name that I would forget.
10:40And then you look at it and go like, oh yeah, nobody's ever done what Mike Evans does.
10:43But these are his sack totals since 2016, Daniil Hunter.
10:47First, his rookie year, he had six, which is more than he had the whole time at LSU.
10:50But since then, 12 and a half, seven, 14 and a half, 14 and a half, six and only seven
10:56games,
10:5710 and a half, 16 and a half, 12, 15.
11:00That dude is as consistent as they come.
11:04Number seven on the edge rusher list.
11:07Big name.
11:08Big name.
11:09Big name.
11:10Then it's either going to be Watt or Bosa.
11:13Who are you going to throw out?
11:14I'll throw Bosa out.
11:16TJ Watt.
11:16Of course.
11:17Highest ranking, third, lowest ranking off the list.
11:20Off the list.
11:21Did you get a chance to vote in this?
11:22I did vote in this.
11:23He's got a chance here.
11:24Last year, he was ranked number two.
11:25He falls all the way to seven.
11:2731 years old.
11:28They said this is a sizable fall for Watt.
11:31The write up, an AFC executive said he's definitely in decline.
11:34He's still very good.
11:35But some of the younger players have surpassed him.
11:37This is the three time sack champion as well.
11:39An NFL personnel evaluator said he can win with his high motor and his flair for the big play.
11:43But the burst and get off isn't the same as it was as a result of lower body injuries.
11:48So that's the most negative write up and quotes we've seen about a player yet.
11:51And he's still the seventh best edge rusher, according to this list.
11:54Is he, though?
11:55Is he?
11:57Yeah.
11:58Probably.
11:59Like, I mean, who are you going to put above?
12:00They put everybody who probably should be above him.
12:03Would you put him above Jared Verse?
12:06Hmm.
12:07Man, I am not the right one to ask here.
12:11Because I think Verse has been a little overrated.
12:14Verse is a good player.
12:15He's been a little overrated.
12:17Heepy.
12:18Is that?
12:20Man, he had seven sacks last year.
12:22Watt.
12:23I would still.
12:25Probably Verse is an arguable one.
12:29Trey.
12:30Trey.
12:32He's above Trey Hendrickson still.
12:35Okay.
12:35Josh Allen.
12:36Or whatever his name is now.
12:37Josh Allen Hines.
12:39Yeah, I think it's still take TJ.
12:41Okay.
12:41All right.
12:42Number eight on this list.
12:43Top ten edge rushers from Jeremy Fowler.
12:45All right.
12:46Let's go.
12:46Coming up here in a few minutes.
12:47Let's go Jared Verse.
12:50No Jared Verse.
12:51It is not Jared Verse.
12:52Nick Bosa.
12:53Oh, okay.
12:54Highest ranking three.
12:56Lowest ranking this year.
12:57Unranked.
12:57Wow.
12:59Several voters acknowledged that Bosa would still be in their top five if healthy.
13:03A torn ACL the second of his career cost Bosa all but three games last year.
13:08He was balling out before the injury.
13:09That's hilarious that in an ESPN article they put he was balling out before the injury.
13:14He had a 21.6 pass rush win rate along with two sacks.
13:17An NFL personnel evaluator said he's got the best speed of power move in the NFL.
13:20He gets offensive tackles on their heels and he pushes right through them.
13:25Number nine.
13:27Number nine?
13:28Mm-hmm.
13:31Top ten edge rushers from Jeremy Fowler.
13:33Let's go with Jared Verse.
13:37No.
13:37No.
13:38Division.
13:40Division.
13:40Within the Cowboys division.
13:45Jalen Phillips?
13:46Is he still there?
13:47Guy got dealt for a lot of draft capital.
13:50Kyle.
13:51Oh.
13:52Oh.
13:52Oh.
13:52The Carolina kid.
13:54Yep.
13:55Burns.
13:55Yes.
13:56Brian Burns.
13:57Highest ranking six.
13:58Lowest ranking.
13:59Unranked.
14:00Last year he was an honorable mention.
14:0130 years old.
14:02They say Burns continues to put it together.
14:04An NFL coordinator said he was different than in years past.
14:06He was more of a force consistently.
14:07More of a pain in the ass to play against.
14:09Number ten.
14:10Rounding out this top ten.
14:14Jalen Phillips.
14:16No.
14:19I mean, I've said Jared Verse a million times.
14:21Sounds like it would be eventually it would be there.
14:24So I'll say him again.
14:25No.
14:26And that's stunning to me.
14:27I wasn't even thinking of it until you mentioned it.
14:29But the fact that he's not in the top ten is pretty stunning.
14:31So he is not in the top ten here.
14:33Mmm.
14:35It is.
14:35Oh, Trey Henderson.
14:36No.
14:37What?
14:38No.
14:38A little bit of a guy who's underrated.
14:42Look, you would count Oklahoma as local.
14:44Oklahoma.
14:48Dude, I have no idea.
14:50I owe you in defense lately.
14:53Broncos edge rusher Nick Benito.
14:55Wow.
14:56It says that Benito is the only pass rusher to make his top ten debut this year.
15:00He won a close race with Cleveland's Jared Verse for the last spot.
15:04Starting in 2023, Benito's sack totals climbed from eight to 13 and a half and 14.
15:10One high-ranking personnel evaluator said he's got maybe the best get-off in the league.
15:15Serious closing speed.
15:16He's on the quarterback as soon as the ball snapped.
15:19Good spin move and excellent lower body flexibility.
15:22So the last two days, Cowboys have not been on the list.
15:25They're not in the top ten on this one either.
15:27Did they sneak into the also receiving votes like they did the last two?
15:33You said no.
15:34Yes, I'm going to say no.
15:35Honorable mentions before that.
15:37By the way, you said that Benito just edged out Jared Verse.
15:41Yep.
15:42Which means that Trey is lower than 11.
15:45Jared Verse is 11 because he's an honorable mention.
15:4812 is Trey Hendrickson.
15:50Okay.
15:5113 is Josh Hines Allen.
15:53So you ended up naming pretty much everybody.
15:56And then in the also receiving votes, Trayvon Walker, Jalen Phillips, Montez Sweat.
16:04Layatu Latu, Nick Herbig, and Alex Highsmith.
16:10No Cowboys make the list.
16:11But that also means, given that you've got, you know, Alex Highsmith on there and Nick Herbig,
16:18that does mean that three Steelers edge rushers are in the top of this.
16:23Oh, gosh.
16:25Which is nuts to think about.
16:26A lot of people have wondered if Herbig or Highsmith would get traded.
16:29Because if they just refuse to get rid of TJ.
16:32I mean, they should get rid of TJ and let those two guys eat.
16:35Yeah.
16:35I mean, honestly, those are two really good.
16:36John Onan is a huge fan, formerly of PFF and Dallas Morning News.
16:41John Onan is a really big fan of Nick Herbig.
16:43He thinks that he's really special.
16:44So that's the edge rushers list.
16:46So that's the edge rushers list.
