01:30We have seven teams, they are ready to play, there is one missing and the team that's
01:37going to be the number eight is going to come from the game that's going on right
01:41now, Colombia against Switzerland, they tie no goals and now they are playing the extra
01:49time.
01:49But let's go with Venezuela and later we are going to have time to talk about what's
01:54going on in the World Cup, what's happened to Argentina, so many stories to tell you.
01:58But let's go with the number of Venezuela, we were watching those awful pictures of reconstruction
02:04of that area destroyed by two powerful earthquake tomorrow, going to be two weeks since that
02:10happened.
02:11The latest number we are receiving is the death toll surpassed 3,685, injured people
02:2216, 1740, rescue 6,462.
02:31And something very important to know how it's working the government to assist those people
02:36so far.
02:37You know how many family has been assisted?
02:4318,6794.
02:44But let's go to the ground, Hernan Tobar is there, Hernan, good afternoon, how's the situation
02:51right now?
02:59Thank you, greetings for you and everybody who is watching us through Telesur Screen.
03:06And we are still here in the disaster area in La Guayra.
03:10We have been traveling through different parties and sectors and we have seen all the
03:16teams, the rescue teams, which are rescuing people over 10 days have already passed.
03:25So it is a very complex situation to find people alive.
03:30But miracles exist and they assure us that they are going to work in order to recovery their
03:38bodies and if they find people alive, they will continue digging up.
03:44And we have seen many trucks for the remotion of the breezes and they are, there's a yellow
03:55machinery, they usually collect all the debris in order to clean the areas and we have to
04:04say that some sectors are already starting to reactivate in the state, especially in those
04:11areas where that were not heavily affected.
04:17Also, the businesses are opening their doors so that the general public can purchase their
04:27groceries.
04:29Everything is going around this that are linked to the state organizations in order to provide
04:41protection, food, and a series of conditions for the well-being of the people who lost everything.
04:51They have been deployed to temporary camps all around the territory so there they can get food
05:03and also health care.
05:05There is a specific area, pescadores, for the fishermen in Caraballeda and they claim that despite
05:14the circumstances they are going to start fishing again next Friday.
05:22The product of this, they are going to take a percentage of the catch of their fishing that is going
05:34to go for humanitarian aid for the temporary camps.
05:40Everything is connected, everything is linked with the private and state-run organizations and
05:48also volunteers have been working.
05:51Our society, our Venezuelan society, is a resilient society before this situation.
06:00We have talked to many of the people affected and they say that this is a new beginning, even
06:08amid the pain and they are adapting themselves to a new feeling.
06:14And you can see that the city is going through this apparent new normal.
06:21We have seen the transportation buses for the transportation of the citizens.
06:27So the state in general is starting to retake their normal activities in quotation marks.
06:35And you can see the presence of the rescue teams in many of the sectors.
06:42The yellow, the heavy machinery is still working on the affected areas by collecting all the debris.
06:52So we will continue to be attentive to the development of the events and the assessment and evolution
07:01of the plans from the government in order to help such as Venezuela reborn with the necessary financial funds to
07:14take care of the victims.
07:16Many civil engineers are mapping out the areas with the affected buildings so that we can start working in the
07:28areas so that people can return to their homes.
07:31It is a comprehensive goal in order to help the people injured.
07:40We are going to continue providing information from La Guaya State.
07:46Hernán Tovar, thank you very much for this information.
07:50It is very helpful to us, very helpful to our viewers who are getting information from different sources,
07:55especially if it comes from Miami.
07:57I want to give information in case you send help to Venezuela and you think maybe it's not going to
08:03the right people.
08:05It does.
08:05The General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence refutes false reports alleging the misuse of international aid sent to victims of their
08:16quake that struck June 24.
08:19The man is going where he has to go.
08:22But talking about our reporters, they have a chance to meet a lot of survivors.
08:27And what I tell them is really amazing.
08:29And I want you to share something what they tell us.
08:36Jose Luis Borrego was on his way home from work while Natalia was at home.
08:41Both survived the double earthquake that struck La Guayra State.
08:52I was on my way home.
08:59A young man was asking me to pay the fare and then I couldn't shake.
09:03I couldn't react.
09:04When I looked up, it came down on me.
09:06Then the kiosk collapsed and a utility pole fell on top of me too.
09:09That's all I remember.
09:20Everything started shaking.
09:22Suddenly the building began swaying forward.
09:25I was in bed and then everything came crashing down on top of me.
09:28A concrete slab ended up pinning me down.
09:33Both say they are grateful for a second chance at life.
09:36I was very fortunate because, first of all, I made it out alive.
09:42On top of that, I came out with my body intact.
09:45There are people who, sadly, have lost parts of their bodies.
09:48I feel very fortunate in that sense.
09:51Mine was a fracture.
09:52I've already had surgery.
09:54I was just operated on.
09:55And, thank God, little by little I'll recover and be able to get back on my feet and walk again.
10:07Everything happens for a reason.
10:10So, thank God I'm alive and have this experience to tell.
10:13Here I am.
10:17Both Jose Luis and Natalia have received medical care at Jose Maria Vargas Hospital.
10:26They've received me in the best possible way.
10:28They've treated me very well and have been looking after me.
10:31To me, this is the best hospital there is because, from the very first day until now, the care has
10:36been outstanding.
10:37They've always been attentive, taking care of everything.
10:47Honestly, the care has been excellent.
10:49All the nurses have been very attentive, making sure I receive all my medications.
10:54The doctors have also been checking on me constantly.
10:57They come to see how I'm doing, whether I'm in pain or not, and to monitor my progress.
11:02Thank God, everything has gone very well so far since the surgery.
11:05It was a complete success.
11:12In the hallways of the hospital, we met Egli Zapata, who, with a smile, was offering arepas, along with coffee
11:18or papillone con limon, to the families of survivors recovering at this medical center.
11:26Well, that's the upbringing my mother gave me.
11:28In fact, my mother is here with us.
11:31We've all come together as a family.
11:33My mother, my sister, and my niece, these are the values she instilled in us.
11:37They've made us who we are today and inspired us to come and help, just as she always taught us.
11:42La Guaira is the state that has suffered the greatest devastation from the earthquake, with 80% of its buildings
11:49collapsing.
11:50En la Cámara de Jesús Romero, Yarlene Rosales, del Sur, Caracas, Venezuela.
11:58God bless their hearts.
12:00So far, 6,462 people have been rescued.
12:05Let's do a short break.
12:07When we come back, we are going to talk about the World Cup.
12:09We have a special guest for you.
12:11But now, let's go to the break with our segment, A Goal for Venezuela.
12:27WREGAS.
12:28Un saludo a todos los hermanos de Venezuela.
12:30Jugamos con Venezuela.
12:31Estamos contigo.
12:32Sabemos lo que están pasando.
12:34Son momentos duros.
13:17Venezuela. Estamos con ustedes.
13:37Let's talk about the World Cup.
13:39It was an exciting day today. It was a good day from Argentina, who made one of the best comeback
13:46of World Cup history.
13:48Scored three late goals to beat Egypt 3-2. One of the goals was from Lionel Messi, who is now
13:56the leading scorer in the World Cup.
13:59He has eight goals.
14:03Argentinian players, Messi, the coach, Leon Scaloni, were really emotional after the match.
14:10Scaloni couldn't talk to the press because he said, it's too much for me.
14:15My guys, I'm so proud of them. They know how to fight and today we came back.
14:20They were down 2-0 at the second half, 25 minutes and there were those three goals.
14:28The last one was at the 92 minutes when everybody was thinking they're going to go to the extra time.
14:34Like I said at the beginning of the show, on Wednesday, tomorrow we don't have matches.
14:41It's going to start the quarter-final and there is only one team missing.
14:46The team that's playing right now, Switzerland against Colombia.
14:50The winner is going to play against Argentina.
14:54But let's go right now to Buenos Aires.
14:56I imagine everybody celebrating over there.
14:59Fabián Restivo. Fabián, good afternoon. How's the atmosphere over there?
15:13How are things?
15:14Well, in Argentina it's celebration.
15:17Celebration over a match that had become difficult.
15:20Egypt was leading Argentina 2-0, but Scaloni's team came back in the final minutes to win 3-2.
15:29It's a moment of joy for a country that has been going through hard times, like Argentina.
15:35So, while there aren't the large gatherings in public squares that we've seen in the past,
15:40you can still hear car horns honking and neighbors shouting from their balconies.
15:47This victory keeps hope alive for a country that, socially and economically, has very little to be hopeful about.
15:56Once again, the Argentine national team is bringing joy to the Argentine people.
16:03That's what we have for now. The World Cup continues, at least for Argentina.
16:07Back to you.
16:09I'll continue with you.
16:10Thank you. Thank you very much.
16:12The one who was not happy at all, Hassam Hassam, the Egyptian coach, he said that FIFA is trying to
16:20make Argentina win against the World Championship.
16:23But that's something we can debate.
16:26But what I want to talk about him, about the coach, Hassam Hassam, that he made something very important.
16:32He made public, you know, he dedicated the great performance of his national team, Egypt, to the Palestinian people.
16:42In the match before, when they went to the round of 32, he waved the flag of the Palestinians on
16:51this is the biggest event in the world.
16:53Let's go with the story about Palestinians, about the relationship they have with the coach of Egypt.
17:02Egypt's remarkable World Cup campaign became about more than football.
17:06Throughout the tournament, the Pharaoh's players and coaching staff repeatedly dedicated victories to the Palestinian people, turning global attention toward
17:14Gaza and the broader Palestinian struggle, facing ongoing Israeli military occupation and bombardment.
17:20Head coach Hassam Hassan said football could not be separated from the suffering of people across the region, describing the
17:26team's performances as a source of hope for Arabs and Palestinians alike.
17:31The gestures quickly resonated across Palestine.
17:34In Gaza and the occupied West Bank, social media filled with videos of fans celebrating Egypt's victories while thanking the
17:40players for keeping Palestine visible on the world's biggest sporting stage.
17:44Many describe the team as carrying the aspirations of an entire region where sport has long served as a platform
17:52for political expression and resistance.
17:54Although Egypt's World Cup journey has come to an end, its message of solidarity with Palestine continues to resonate far
18:01beyond the tournament, reinforcing the enduring connection between sport, identity and the struggle for justice.
18:10I told you at the beginning of the show, we have a special guest, Leo Messi, who didn't make it.
18:16So we have Charlie Monteiro, who's been working with us for so long, doing such a great job.
18:22Charlie, thank you for being with us.
18:24You love Argentina, you live in Argentina.
18:27How did the team make us suffer so much?
18:30Thanks, Carlos. I know I'm not Messi, but it's pretty close.
18:34This morning we suffered a lot.
18:36It was really amazing.
18:38Egypt started 2-0 against us and we already thought the game was over.
18:43We got lucky that one of the goals that Egypt scored was called off because of a previous foul between
18:49Dizendo Martinez.
18:51But then Argentina woke up a little bit.
18:53They also had a little bit of luck.
18:54A champion without luck isn't a champion.
18:58And Argentina had that luck today.
19:00But Messi didn't have much luck because he missed a penalty kick.
19:04It's the second one he missed in this World Cup.
19:07That's true.
19:07It's not the first time.
19:09I think he's missed four out of eight penalties in the World Cups.
19:12That's amazing.
19:13All the World Cups.
19:13That's amazing.
19:14Let's talk about Colombia, Switzerland, the one who wins today.
19:18Right now they are tying 0-0.
19:21He's going to play against Argentina.
19:23How do you see that?
19:24I think that Colombia will probably make it through.
19:27They're playing a better game.
19:28But honestly, as an Argentinian fan, I would rather be Switzerland.
19:33Colombia is going to want revenge from the Copa America.
19:35Argentina beat them a few years ago.
19:38And Argentina doesn't need a tough opponent right now.
19:42Charlie has an Argentinian heart, but he was born in the USA, so I'm sure you were following.
19:48Last night, the controversy with Donald Trump, the FIFA, with Balogun, that he couldn't play for a red card.
19:55Then he would play.
19:56And the USA team, they play an awful match.
20:00What's happened there?
20:01Too much pressure, maybe?
20:02I think it was too much pressure.
20:03I think energy has a lot to do with it.
20:05When we were in Qatar, you could feel that there was a lot of good energy for Argentina throughout the
20:09whole tournament.
20:09And they ended up winning.
20:11USA had something similar.
20:12Everybody was surprised about how well USA was playing.
20:15No one expected them to be as good as they were.
20:18But something happened.
20:19The President of the United States, Donald Trump, called Infantino.
20:22And all that good energy that USA had, they lost it from one day to another.
20:28And unfortunately, you could see on the pitch, Pulisic wasn't playing good.
20:32Balogun wasn't either.
20:34And the best part was at the end of the game, when Lukaku scored a goal, he started dancing like
20:39Donald Trump.
20:40And you could see in the locker room afterwards, the whole team was dancing.
20:44I think it's a little bit of divine justice.
20:46And Donald Trump didn't say anything about that so far.
20:50He didn't make any comments.
20:52Let's talk about on Wednesday.
20:54No, today is Tuesday.
20:56Tomorrow, there are no matches.
20:57On Thursday, he's going to start the quarterfinal.
21:00What do you think about those matches?
21:02Which one are your favorite?
21:08Let's start with Norway against England.
21:12Norway between England, I like.
21:14I would rather Norway make it through, because I think Holland has a big heart.
21:18But England has a lot of history in the World Cups, and I think they'll make it really difficult for
21:22Norway.
21:23What do you think?
21:24Another game fantastic is going to be France against Morocco.
21:30France against Morocco, it will be another tough game.
21:33Mbappé is going to face against Hakimi.
21:36They know each other from PSG.
21:38It will be a very tough game.
21:40I hope Morocco makes it through, because they're an African nation.
21:43But I think Mbappé will take over and make the move on to the next game.
21:47Belgium and Spain?
21:49Belgium and Spain?
21:51No, I think Spain will win that game pretty easily.
21:54There shouldn't be much pressure there.
21:56When I went here on the Steca, when Mexico played England, I asked the coach, the English close coach,
22:05he said, do you think, because there is a possibility, if England beat Norway and Argentina beat whoever,
22:13Colombia or Switzerland, the two teams are going to meet in the semifinal.
22:18There are so many things going on, not only about sport, but in England and Argentina.
22:23Would you like to see that semifinal?
22:25I'd love to see that semifinal.
22:26I wish it would be played here in the Azteca, so they have a repeat of 1986.
22:31But unfortunately, all the rest of the games will be playing in the USA.
22:35It would be a great game to see Messi versus Harry Kane, Pickford versus Ibu Martinez.
22:40Hopefully, that will happen.
22:42Charlie, so far, it's almost over.
22:45Only 18 left in the World Cup from Thursday.
22:49Which one is the player that most impressed you?
22:52There's only one answer you can see from my jersey.
22:55It has to be Lionel Messi.
22:58It's crazy.
22:59He already has his experience.
23:01He's older now.
23:01But he's competing with the best, with Mbappé, with Haaland, with Harry Kane.
23:06It's crazy what he's doing on the pitch.
23:07And so far, he's the one leading scorer.
23:11He's going to get the goal boot.
23:13More probably.
23:14So far, he has eight goals.
23:16Mbappé, Haaland, they have seven goals.
23:18Exactly.
23:18That's exactly right.
23:19How important is it for Messi to win this World Cup?
23:22I was impressed when I saw him.
23:24He's always very quiet, very calm, very focused.
23:27And today, he was crying like somebody who was very emotional.
23:32It was amazing.
23:33Because he was very emotional.
23:35And I don't think it was just because of the game.
23:37There has to be something outside of the game.
23:39Because he was crying for a long time.
23:42And Scaloni was crying too.
23:44Actually, after the game, Scaloni couldn't even talk in the press conference.
23:48So, I don't know.
23:50There has to be something else other than just the World Cup there.
23:54Something else we know what's happened.
23:55The parents of Messi are not here.
23:57The father of Messi is not anymore at the hospital.
24:00But they couldn't come here to the USA.
24:03Lionel Messi, eight goals.
24:05Mbappé, seven.
24:06They can do more.
24:08Haaland, seven.
24:09Harry Kane.
24:11And Dembélé, six and four.
24:12They have matches in front of them.
24:15So, I mean, Lionel Messi, so far, is in the leader position.
24:19But, I mean, it's going to be really close.
24:21That's a scary thing.
24:22Because with Argentina, you see Messi leading the team with scoring goals.
24:26But you see that on that chart, there's two players in France.
24:29They have Mbappé and they have Dembélé.
24:31If you have two dangerous players, I think it would be a tough match
24:35if Argentina makes it to the final against France.
24:38Hopefully, France gets eliminated before.
24:40Charlie, you surprised me what you mentioned and I agree with you.
24:44The Argentine team depends too much on Messi.
24:48If you see the one who hit the most, the ball to the goal is Messi.
24:52The rest team play around Messi.
24:56That's true.
24:57And in Qatar, it wasn't like that.
24:58In Qatar, they found a way that everyone could make goals.
25:01They all played for Messi, but they weren't dependent on Messi.
25:05And this World Cup, they seem like they need Messi no matter what if they want to win.
25:09I remember I was with Charlie also in Brazil 2014.
25:13Brazil was doing great, but depends too much on Neymar.
25:16Neymar got hurt, couldn't play.
25:18And you know what's happened to Brazil again.
25:20Chairman, 7-1.
25:22Charlie, thank you very much.
25:23See you on the street.
25:24Thank you, Carlos.
25:25See you later.
25:26And this is all for today.
25:27Have a wonderful day.
25:28Bye-bye.
25:31And a lot of support for all of the people of Venezuela.
25:34And you're going to be sure you will get ahead.
25:36With all the love from Spain.
25:37From the Getafe.
25:39Thank you very much.
25:40I hope everything will be fine.
25:42And from Spain we send us a lot of support.
25:44And a lot of inspiration for everything.
25:48Well, everything that has come to us is terrible and we want to give our support from Spain to people
25:53who are suffering a lot.
25:55And to all the people who see us, who support us a lot.
25:58And that everything will happen soon and we have a lot of hope for them.
26:04Yes, of course, from Spain, ladies and gentlemen, a lot of excitement.
26:09What has happened is a disgrace, but, well, the important thing is that the world will come with you,
26:16that you can solve everything as soon as possible, that you can support your families and those who have lost
26:23things and little more.
26:25Well, I'm from Peru, in the same way, I'm a brother of the country.
26:29The truth is, it hurts everything that has happened with this earthquake.
26:34I wish I could recover very soon.
26:38For that reason, we are brothers, to help us.
26:41So, I wish that more people can solidarity with the situation and they can recover very soon.
26:47We came from Colombia and it's a very close to us.
26:51We have a lot of Venezuelan citizens who live close to our houses and work with us.
26:58A message of solidarity, of much strength.
27:00We hope that this is something very good that God helps us to lift up and get ahead with the
27:07braveness and strength of that people who live with us in Colombia, almost like a shoulder to shoulder.
27:13Thank you very much.
27:14Un saludo muy especial para ellos y fuerza a Venezuela.
27:17Un saludo.
27:18Un saludo.
27:21Un saludo.
27:26Un saludo.
27:36Fine, merci.
