00:00Former Ivory Coast Defence Minister Moïse Lida Kouassi has been released after spending nearly a year in detention on terrorism
00:08-related charges.
00:10Kouassi, who served under former President Laurent Gbagbo, was arrested in August alongside several others ahead of last October's presidential
00:18election.
00:20Prosecutors accused him of orchestrating violence that erupted in Abidjan.
00:24His opposition party, the African People's Party of Ivory Coast, welcomed his release but says the former minister's health has
00:33deteriorated during his time in custody.
00:36The party also says several of its members remain behind bars.
00:40The release comes a day after opposition-linked digital activist Ibrahim Zegui was freed on appeal amid continued scrutiny of
00:49arrests made around the election.
