00:00It feels more important than ever. I think it's something that I've probably taken for granted
00:03throughout my life and I think particularly over the last couple of years in some ways I feel like
00:06we're regressing and so I think it's so important for us where we can to show up and show out.
00:11It's more about just like showing that you can love anyone you want to love.
00:14I think that's the most important thing because like who say you can't love everyone?
00:18So we just celebrate love. That's very important.
00:21We have so many attacks on our liberties especially you know what's happening to
00:26trans people the way they've been persecuted.
00:28I think this year is more important than it's been in maybe 20 years.
00:32It feels like there's been a huge shift this year in a bad way for queer people and particularly trans
00:37people
00:38and I feel like that is when we need to show up more than ever and show out in numbers
00:43and me as a straight ally I feel like it's just as important for us to show our support as
00:47well.
00:48Right now someone somewhere in this world is suffering and it's up to all of us that live in
00:54the big gay bubble to support everyone in this world and be the vocal and as honest as we can
01:01act regarding what's going on in this world. We're moving backwards and not forwards.
01:05It should always be celebrated but more than ever.
01:08It kills me that it has to be so defiant and brave right now.
01:15Growing up gay or the realisation you're gay can be quite isolating and it's not a nice experience
01:24I don't think to feel like you're maybe on your own and I think it's just a good reminder
01:29to build community and talk about community and you know know that people are out there
01:34that have been through it and done it and are there for you.
01:36I feel like when you're not out and then you see celebrations like this I feel like it gives you
01:42a lot of hope to be able to have that courage to come out you're like oh wow you see
01:46all these
01:46people having so much fun being themselves and I think that's what's so important about pride.
01:52Even before I even knew I wasn't straight like I used to come and dance and sort of spectate and
02:00learn.
02:01We're lucky we can celebrate pride because we're much, a lot of us are a lot less repressed in London
02:07than in a lot of other places but it's good to remember the people that are still struggling.
02:11Well I don't think you can ever take your greedo for granted.
02:15I actually like seeing people from outside the queer community at pride whether it's someone's children
02:22or someone's dog and I like seeing people come into the world that we inhabit, see how wonderful it is,
02:30see how beautiful it is.
02:31The only community that really celebrated me growing up as a weird straight girl that didn't have that many friends
02:37I could always look to the LGBT community like I feel like they are the people that taught me how
02:43to be a woman
02:43and they always celebrated me when no one else wanted to so for me it's like pride is like Christmas
02:50I'm like honey I'm coming and I'm bringing everything I can for you girls.
02:53The gays love a party.
02:54For me pride is about coming together, learning from my elders, remembering where we're from and looking forward to a
03:00really bright future.
03:01If you could pick one thing about London pride that's your favourite, what would it be?
03:05Everything.
03:06Everything?
03:06Everything.
03:07I love it.
03:08The happy, the joy, the happiness. No one is out to be an a**hole.
03:14My favourite thing about London pride is being on the streets.
03:17You've got to get out there with the people and see all the different types of gay you could possibly
03:20be.
