02:25Taiwan is one of the world's great democratic success stories
02:29under sustained external pressure
02:32its people have built a vibrant democracy
02:35competitive elections
02:36and a dynamic civil society
02:39and a citizenry that understands
02:41freedom is not simply inherited
02:43it is earned and safeguarded every day
02:47by ordinary people who refuse to be bystanders
02:51in the defense of their democracy
02:52for Americans, Taiwan's success matters
02:56because resilient democracies contribute to more stable
02:59peaceful and prosperous world
03:01Taiwan is also an indispensable economic and technology partner
03:06strengthening secure supply chains
03:08innovation and shared prosperity
03:10we also believe that Taiwan has an extraordinary opportunity
03:15Taiwan's security will not rest only on military deterrence
03:20and diplomacy
03:20but also on deepening its place
03:23in the global community of democracies
03:26not only asking the world to stand with Taiwan
03:29but to continue to show that Taiwan stands with those around the world
