00:40i was cooking dinner when
00:45all of a sudden an earthquake alert went off on our phones
00:50i was with my husband and my daughter
00:56and the building started moving in circles
01:01it began to shake and when we tried to get out of the apartment the building collapsed and we fell
01:06all 12 floors floor by floor
01:13those were moments of anguish i thought the hospital was going to collapse my bed started shaking it
01:19pulled away from the wall my husband and i were together and i said this is it this is where

01:25life ends from the initial fear to the determination to save those closest to them every experience of
01:32the earthquakes has brought patients and doctors together my daughter is 15 years old thank god
01:38she's okay at the last moment i had the strength to throw myself on top of her to shield her
01:44from
01:45the debris that was falling on her my family is safe thankfully what i did so that i could be
01:52here and
01:53give my full attention was send my daughter to the interior of the country to stay with her grandparents
01:58that way i know she's safe and i can be here 100 for the people that's important
02:05fortunately nothing happened to us so all we want is to help as much as we can
02:11comprehensive diagnostic centers or cdi's are part of the cuban venezuelan barrio adentro mission
02:17they were created to strengthen free medical care across the country
02:20and today they have become a place of support in the aftermath of the tragedy
02:27every member of the staff both venezuelan and cuban has given us the helping hand we needed
02:35that moral support as well because these are not easy times for us
02:41the care here has been wonderful
02:46the doctors the administrative staff the people even the cleaning staff have been incredibly supportive of us
02:53that solidarity is the strength that has kept so many going after a moment that shook venezuelan
02:59society as a home everyone and everything has come here even those who have nothing have brought at
03:06least a loaf of bread those who have the least have found a way to help no matter how and
03:10that is
03:11incredibly valuable to have nothing and still find a way to help others that is truly incredible
