00:09What's the impact of that, in your opinion?
00:13Well, I'm going to be surprised to see that opening up for Jen Powell.
00:17She'll be the first female umpire full-time in Major League Baseball history.
00:21So I don't know if that's going to happen for sure.
00:23But with seven openings, it certainly opens a way for her.
00:28And like I say, they offered good packages.
00:31You had to be 59 1⁄2 to be able to qualify for it.
00:34And it's a big turnaround.
00:37A lot of veteran guys there, a lot of crew chiefs.
00:41Is there anything that is in line with the ABS system?
00:46Can you tie it, anything?
00:48Or is this they just want to get younger at that position when it comes to the umpires in baseball?
00:56Well, they like to get younger.
00:57I think the veteran guy said, you know what, we've had enough with the ABS thing, checking the pitcher's gloves
01:03all the time.
01:04I mean, there's a lot that goes on.
01:06You know, the instant replay is new.
01:09You know, not blocking the plate at home plate.
01:12Not being able to slide into the fielder at second base.
01:16So a lot has changed in the game.
01:19And I think the umpires aren't having nearly as much fun as they used to with so much underplayed.
