00:00Through the generations, Americans have never stopped striving to lift humanity to new heights.
00:08In 1903, the Wright brothers from Ohio fulfilled the age-old dream of mankind to fly.
00:16That's right, they're from Ohio, great state.
00:20And within 66 years of inventing the airplane, Americans planted our flag on the moon.
00:26Just three months ago, we sent American astronauts back to the far side of the moon,
00:33and this time they flew further from Earth than anyone has ever flown before.
00:41And here they are.
00:49So tonight we're joined by that crew of NASA.
00:57Artemis, you know, you know the crew, everybody.
01:03Artemis 2, and everybody watched, isn't that amazing?
01:05They became very famous.
01:07Everybody watched, I was watching, I don't know what it was, that one got the attention of everybody.
01:13And along with the last man to walk on the moon, Apollo 17 astronaut Jack Schmidt.
01:20Thank you, Jack.
01:23You look like you could be with them, Jack.
01:25You look very good.
01:27You look very good, Jack.
01:28Thank you very much.
01:29What a job.
01:30Everybody was watching.
01:32I was with a group of people that normally wouldn't be watching, and we're having a big dinner,
01:38and they all said, we want to turn on, we want to watch Artemis 2.
01:42A lot of people said, what is that?
01:44By the end of the evening, they knew.
01:45It was amazing.
01:47And along with Jared, where is Jared?
01:49He's so great.
01:50He's running NASA.
01:51What a job he's done.
01:53So I want to thank you all.
01:55Thank you very much.
01:56Great job.
02:00So these champions of flight stand this evening beside the flag flown on the Wright Brothers
02:07airplane, piloted by Orville Wright.
02:10It's the exact flag.
02:12Very historic.
02:13And they are honored to be here.
02:15They told me today they were really amazed to be here with that flag.
02:20That's a very special flag if you're in the world of flying aircraft.
02:25So congratulations to everybody.
02:27Fantastic job.
02:28Very proud of you.
02:31And I have a special gift for these patriots.
02:35This morning on America's 250th birthday, a new flag was flown above the United States
02:41Capitol.
02:42And tonight I present it to you to soon be planted by American astronauts on their upcoming
02:48return to the moon.
02:50And in addition to that, I gave them and all of the great heroes that you saw up on stage
02:56tonight and a few others that couldn't quite make the stage.
02:59I gave them a very special medal from the White House.
03:02So it's an honor.
03:03Thank you very much, everybody.
03:05Appreciate it.
03:10So then I assume you're going to be heading to Mars.
03:13We're going to be going to Mars very soon.
03:16And I think that's something that we do have in mind.
03:18And we're going to do the moon and we're going to go from there.
03:21We're going to go to Mars and we're going to continue to be way ahead.
03:25You know, we did Space Force.
03:27That was something I was very proud of.
03:29And some people smiled.
03:31They thought it was foolish.
03:32And now they're finding it's one of the most important things that we've done.
03:36And we were losing to China and to Russia in space.
03:42And now we're leading them by giant steps.
03:45And it's a great thing.
03:46And it's people like that, that really, like you, that made it happen.
03:50Thank you very much, everybody.
03:51Thank you very much, Jeff.
