Health Secretary James Murray says new investment in AI-powered note-taking will help clinicians spend less time on paperwork and more time treating patients. He said trials showed the technology could save healthcare staff around 47 minutes a day, improving efficiency and patient care.

00:00The investment that we're making in technology in the NHS is really critical to improving the
00:05experience for all of us as patients across the country and it helps NHS staff working on the
00:10front line as well so they can spend more time helping patients. One of the technologies that
00:15we're rolling out is AI note-taking. Now that sounds like a small thing but actually it can
00:20have a really big impact because when we trialled it it shows that you can save a clinician about
00:2547 minutes a day because rather than them sitting in front of their computer typing away there's
00:29an automatic AI note-taker they can then use that time to help see more patients which improves
00:36the service they give to patients and means the NHS is in a stronger position so this technological
00:41investment is really important for the future of the NHS.
