00:00This was the flag that flew victorious at Saratoga, and these are the real deals, too.
00:06These are the real flags. These are flags that have seen a lot.
00:11These were the stars and stripes that flew triumphant when the British waved
00:16the white flag of surrender at Yorktown. That was a big surrender.
00:21Nobody thought that was possible.
00:24We are honored to have here tonight in the heart of our nation's capital
00:28one of the very first American flags ever to exist.
00:33Dating back to 1777, it bears the 13 stars and 13 stripes of the 13 states
00:42that declared independence on the 4th of July.
00:53There it is. This was the flag that flew victorious at Saratoga.
00:59And these are the real deals, too. These are the real flags.
01:04These are flags that have seen a lot.
01:06These were the stars and stripes that flew triumphant when the British waved the white flag of surrender at Yorktown.
01:15That was a big surrender. Nobody thought that was possible.
01:19They were the greatest power of the world, and they surrendered, and that was the beginning.
01:24Ever since, the entire world has been on notice that Americans will never let anyone take our freedom away.
01:31Won't happen.
01:32And all these talks from the communists, they haven't got a chance.
01:37Not even a chance.
01:39We don't want communists in our country.
01:51Never worked, and it never will work.
01:53They're from Ohio, a great state.
01:56And within 66 years of inventing the airplane, Americans planted our flag on the moon.
02:03Just three months ago, we sent American astronauts back to the far side of the moon,
02:09and this time they flew further from Earth than anyone has ever flown before.
02:18And here they are.
02:26So tonight, we're joined by that crew of NASA.
02:34Artemis, you know.
02:35You know the crew, everybody.
02:39Artemis, too.
02:40And everybody watched.
02:41Isn't that amazing?
02:42They became very famous.
02:44Everybody watched.
02:45I was watching.
02:46I don't know what it was.
02:47That one got the attention of everybody.
02:49And along with the last man to walk on the moon, Apollo 17 astronaut Jack Schmidt.
02:56Thank you, Jack.
02:59You look like you could be with them, Jack.
03:02You look very good.
03:03You look very good, Jack.
03:05Thank you very much.
03:06What a job.
03:07Everybody was watching.
03:09I was with a group of people that normally wouldn't be watching,
03:12and we were having a big dinner, and they all said,
03:15we want to turn on, we want to watch Artemis 2.
03:19A lot of people said, what is that?
03:20By the end of the evening, they knew.
03:22It was amazing.
03:23And along with Jared.
03:25Where is Jared?
03:26He is so great.
03:27He's running NASA.
03:28What a job he's done.
03:30And so I want to thank you all.
03:32Thank you very much.
03:33Great job.
03:37So these champions of flight stand this evening beside the flag flown on the Wright Brothers
03:43airplane, piloted by Orville Wright.
03:47It's the exact flag.
03:49Very historic.
03:50And they are honored to be here.
03:52They told me today they were really amazed to be here with that flag.
03:57That's a very special flag if you're in the world of flying aircraft.
04:02So congratulations to everybody.
04:04Fantastic job.
04:05Very proud of you.
04:08And I have a special gift for these patriots.
04:12This morning on America's 250th birthday, a new flag was flown above the United States
04:18Capitol.
04:18And tonight I present it to you to soon be planted by American astronauts on their upcoming
04:25return to the moon.
04:26And in addition to that, I gave them and all of the great heroes that you saw up on stage
04:32tonight and a few others that couldn't quite make the stage, I gave them a very special
04:38medal from the White House.
04:39So it's an honor.
04:40Thank you very much, everybody.
04:42Appreciate it.
04:46So then I assume you're going to be heading to Mars, right?
04:50We're going to be going to Mars very soon.
04:52And I think that's something that we do have in mind.
04:55And we're going to do the moon and we're going to go from there.
04:58We're going to go to Mars and we're going to continue to be way ahead.
05:01You know, we did Space Force.
05:04That was something I was very proud of.
05:06And some people smiled.
05:08They thought it was foolish.
05:09And now they are finding it's one of the most important things that we've done.
05:13We were losing to China and to Russia in space.
05:18And now we're leading them by giant steps.
05:21And it's a great thing.
05:23And it's people like that, that really, like you, that made it happen.
05:26Thank you very much.
