00:00hello everyone please before we start make sure you subscribe like share and comment
00:05that would help a lot there is a cool tool called zeal you probably heard about it
00:14in case you know about programming so i wanted to show you how to set it up on linux
00:23their official website is zeal docs.org it provides documentation or doc sets
00:34for 981 things like programming languages frameworks and whatnot
00:45there are many ways to install it on linux the first universal way is using snap
00:57you need to make sure that snap is enabled on your computer the command is sudo snap install zeal
01:06then the password i tried installing it on my computer using this command
01:14but when i try to run zeal it fails as you're gonna see yes i tried on another computer using
01:24flatpak
01:25the command to install is either this one flatpak install app slash i guess without all of these
01:39it should install like this
01:43and then you press enter once the command is ready make sure of course that flatpak is enabled on
01:50your computer i'm running this command on a remote computer it's on in the same network and i run this
02:00tool and it worked successfully and i got also the doc sets and i can download from them
02:08to run it to run it uh you know you run flatpak run org dot zeal docs dot zeal and
02:17zeal uh the z letter is
02:20uppercase or you can go to the menus in your desktop environment or use uh something like u launcher
02:30or rafi to run the command to run the application and it should open for you or you can use
02:40this command
02:42like this it will complain here since i did not enable x forwarding through ssh
02:50uh i downloaded the app image which you can download by going to the
02:58git hub page and then releases and then you look for dot app image file which is this one i
03:10downloaded it
03:12and then you run to mod plus x the and then the application name dot app image in my case
03:22it's like this
03:24you make it executable and then enter and then dot forward slash
03:31zeal like this tab helps with the auto completion i often use it
03:37or always or always and then enter it should work for you but in my case i was unable to
03:47get it running i mean download any doc set or see the available ones uh it works but with this
03:57error
03:58i mean it's i was unable to get it running without errors and the error that i had affects the
04:07way this app works the other possible ways of installing this piece of software
04:17is using the official and the native methods and we may need to resort to them since
04:26i failed with two of three methods you go to download here you scroll down until you find linux
04:34for the distribution independent i tried them it worked using flat hub there is another one that's not
04:41mentioned here but you find it in the github as i showed you which is app image if you wanna
04:48install
04:49this piece of software on debian or another distribution that's based on it you run sudo apt install
04:59zeal if you are using
05:05arch linux you run sudo pacman dash uppercase s zeal
05:14when it comes to cent os stream
05:19red hat and derivatives you need to run the comments that i'm gonna type eventually i will put the
05:28links in the description for github and the official website of zeal install epel release
05:44and then sudo dnf copper enable
05:52install at zeal docs slash zeal forward slash and then sudo dnf install zeal like this for fedora
06:09it has the package in the office in the official repositories so no need to enable the copper
06:19nor the epel release simply run sudo dnf install zeal
06:30if it is outdated you may need to enable the copper the command is not like this let me correct
06:39it
06:40in your case if you run it like that it will tell you that it is not correct
06:46it is like this in my case i'm typing it as a command for gen 2 the app is in
06:55the official repositories
06:58you can run this command
07:02to install it like this
07:07it will fail it will fail for me i forgot it
07:14for opensusa the command is sudo
07:18zipper in zeal
07:21actually i have an opensusa computer here let's see if i can get it
07:27zipper install zeal password
07:36you can also install it for the psds
07:39make sure you type the correct command
07:42so let's install it natively on arch using the correct command which is this one
07:59enter
08:01then y here and enter
08:04for opensusa after refreshing the repositories
08:09it found it we can install it by pressing y here
08:14however i do not need to do this since i installed the flatback version and it's working flawlessly
08:20i'll simply press n here and enter
08:24okay the installation from pacman is done you can go to
08:31the launcher and click on zeal
08:39doc sets in case we want to add any
08:45we go to available and from here we choose
08:50the one that we are looking for or we can also search for it let's say c plus plus
08:58we can download it let's say python there is two or three that is this one user contributed
09:14and what not let's download three
09:20let's say we want ruby let's download it
09:27let's say
09:36yes pl1 or pli is not available not all the programming languages may have
09:47doc sets here cobalt doesn't
09:50there is this one yes
09:58once it downloads it will be available in the installed one you can update it you can remove it
10:08downloading the documentation of python took so long for me
10:12so i cancelled it and tried with ada which is
10:17somehow faster it would give you a progress bar whenever it is downloading clicking cancel it cancels
10:24the downloads and clicking it again exits out of this window
10:32you may discover other tools frameworks and programming languages you've never heard of simply by
10:43scrolling through this list
10:48and you may look for the stuff you need or you want but never find it
10:56once it is done installing it would become in the list of the installed ones
11:04let's say we want to install angular download it
11:13maybe the documentation of apache http server the famous web server we download it
11:25ansible you can download it
11:34arduino we can download it
11:45maybe we need to cancel simply to see how it would look like once it is downloaded
11:54these ones will take some time
11:58let's close this window it becomes close whenever cancel is clicked
12:05let's go to ada and we have
12:11this index let's choose for example scope
12:19you get a description for what the scope is here is the description of ada itself
12:30next
12:34attributes
12:38we have here
12:41a list of elements that can be clicked
12:45this is for ada doesn't necessarily mean it will be the same for every
12:51programming language or tool here it can be different
12:56we can
13:04explore the other sides of the app however it sounds very simple
13:09there is some navigation
13:15buttons here
13:17that take you to the previous page
13:22identifiers
13:26yes
13:28i'm signing out
13:30and peace
