00:00There's a lot of things that Duncan can do, but can he do it smaller?
00:03Here's a look at the Mattel Master Universe Mighty Masters Man-at-Arms.
00:17The Mighty Masters Man-at-Arms is a 3.5-inch miniature action figure released by Mattel,
00:23part of the kid-focused, budget-friendly Mighty Masters wave.
00:25The figure reimagines the classic Master Universe characters in a squat, super-deformed aesthetic
00:30inspired by the vintage 1980s toys.
00:33Man-at-Arms is King Randor's master of weapons.
00:35Tiny, little, minuscule weapons.
00:39We're going to push forward, though.
00:40We're going to grab the tape measure and get things going with the Mighty Masters Man-at-Arms.
00:43Unfortunately, though, Man-at-Arms and Beastmen are short-cased figures,
00:46which means while there may be an abundance of both He-Man and Skeletors,
00:50you may have to look a little harder.
00:51You may have to try a little harder to get your hands on Man-at-Arms and Beastmen.
00:56For how tall the figure's going to stand,
00:57tape measure's telling me that he's looking at 3 inches.
01:00That's the tape measure.
01:01I guess I'm looking also at 3 inches.
01:03It's translating also to a figure that's about 7.5 centimeters tall.
01:07My initial observations of Mighty Masters Man-at-Arms is that his colors do seem off.
01:12Granted, I don't have one from the 80s, but I do have one from the Origins.
01:16Now, even then, the Origins wasn't really the same color as the original 80s Man-at-Arms,
01:19because the Man-at-Arms from the 80s would have been kind of more like a darker olive green.
01:23Now we get kind of more of a bright lime green.
01:25But even then, the Mighty Masters Man-at-Arms doesn't even have that color either.
01:29He seems actually more closer in color to the Snake Armor Man-at-Arms.
01:33So again, same body, just different darker greens.
01:35And of course, we've already had a look at both He-Man.
01:38We've also looked at Skeletor, and here's what the figure looks like with both of them,
01:40both in size and quantities.
01:42The figure's accessories are small.
01:44In fact, the only thing he really has is his mini-mace.
01:47His what?
01:47His mini-mace.
01:48The mace itself can't be held in either one of his hands, so that's good right away.
01:52If you pick the figure up, or if I pick the figure up,
01:55there's no storage space, spores space, on the back of the figure's torso.
02:00However, though, you can get it into either one of Duncan's hands.
02:03Just like that.
02:04Why are you choosing not to put it over here?
02:06Ah, we'll get to that in a second.
02:08I've also deduced as well that if you happen to have yourself a Mighty Masters,
02:12not, I'm sorry, Masters Minis, not the Mighty Masters.
02:15It's the other way around.
02:16If you happen to have accessories from those, this just happens to be the Battle Axe for the Mighty Masters.
02:20There I go again.
02:21Masters Minis?
02:22You can also use those as well.
02:25This one sits, though, a little looser in Man-at-Arms' hands,
02:28but if you do happen to have some extra accessories laying around,
02:31you can also borrow them over as well.
02:34Why I chose not to put, though, the mace into this hand, however, though,
02:37is because Man-at-Arms does have a working gimmick.
02:40Wouldn't that be the gimmick, though, where you'd be able to twist the waist and it would swing back?
02:43No, for some reason unknown, they chose not to give him the swinging feature on his waist,
02:49like with both the He-Man and the Skeletor.
02:51Instead, what they chose to do is they gave him a gimmick that's tied to his shoulders.
02:55So when you bring the shoulder back and swing it,
02:58well, even if you just let it go, it's going to swing forward.
03:01I'm not sure really why they chose to go with this as opposed to just the standard swiveled waist.
03:06Because when we looked at, like, He-Man, for example,
03:08if he's supposed to be really based on the original 80s toy,
03:11they should all really be doing this.
03:13And I don't recall ever really Man-at-Arms having a feature where you bring his arm back and you
03:17let it go.
03:18But that's what they chose to go with when it comes to this design of figure.
03:21Now, I wonder, though, if Beastman, because we haven't yet looked at the Mighty Masters Beastman,
03:26I'm wondering, though, if maybe he's going to have a different gimmick altogether
03:28or if he's actually going to have also a swinging back waist.
03:32Taking the mace out of his hands and moving it off to the side.
03:34What's interesting also is that they've based this on the 80s toy.
03:37Not only have they darkened the colors of his main suit,
03:40but they've also chosen to give him a mustache as well.
03:43For those fans of the original Filmation series,
03:45I'm sure won't be disappointed by the fact he does actually have a mustache this time around.
03:49But again, I feel like if this is going to be one that's supposed to be tied to the original
03:5280s toy,
03:54axing the mustache, I think, probably would have made a little bit more sense.
03:57Now, if you didn't want to, you could take, really, the armor off.
04:00It's tabbed on the bottom here.
04:02You just untab that to take off the whole front calf guard.
04:05You can also do the same as well.
04:06Just unstrap the side.
04:07Just take off the whole entire shoulder section,
04:10which actually, unlike, though, the larger men-at-arms,
04:12this is actually all one piece.
04:14So when you detach this, you're pretty much going to take the entire thing
04:18that kind of looks almost like a robotic, I don't know, like a slug.
04:22Strap, of course, unstrap the back and unloop these.
04:25And, of course, you can take the entire front armor off.
04:27And what you'd basically be getting underneath is essentially just He-Man's body.
04:31Size-wise, though, of course, they're going to be exactly the same.
04:34It does look like they are using the same arms.
04:36It looks also like they're using the same legs.
04:38And loincloths do look like they are used again,
04:41although just slightly darker colors.
04:43But again, like the darker colors, the weird thing that's throwing me off on the figure.
04:46Because, again, like I'm looking at this,
04:48and the first thing I think of,
04:50if maybe it's not really quite the exact same color,
04:52this one's just a little bit more green.
04:54But why they went with more of a teal color,
04:56as, again, as opposed to the regular olive green,
04:59were even, at the very most,
05:00not just used the same lime green as the Origins Man-at-Arms.
05:05For the figure's articulation,
05:06it's pretty much the same as both the Mighty Masters,
05:10He-Man and Skeletor,
05:11with only, just again, the only notable difference
05:13is the fact that he does have now a working gimmick in his arm.
05:16So the head, of course, can move back and forth,
05:19up and down.
05:19There's a ball joint there.
05:20I did notice, though, that the head is really tight.
05:22I'm not sure, really, what's causing it to be so tight.
05:25Maybe the ball joint is a little larger than what it normally would be.
05:28I also feel like his head is a little more rubbery, too.
05:32This one arm does rotate all the way around.
05:34There is no hand articulation or anything like that.
05:37And then this arm.
05:38Really can't do anything more than what it's doing right now.
05:41You could also lock it.
05:42So if you did want to bring the arm up
05:44and always have it in this pose,
05:45it would still work the gimmick.
05:47It would just mean, like, the arm is a little bit higher up.
05:49You can also ratchet that up again
05:51and have the arm even higher up.
05:53I think, for me, I'd like to have it probably right around there.
05:56I think down here is maybe a little too low.
05:59I mean, yeah, the swing probably would be a little bit greater.
06:01But if I'm going to be only displaying this on the shelf,
06:03I'd like to probably have it about the same height up.
06:06So they're parallel with the arm on the other side.
06:09Normally, it would say that if you twist his waist and let it go,
06:12it would swing forward.
06:14Unfortunately, though, with man-at-arms, he doesn't do that.
06:16He just has a regular swivel.
06:17Well, legs move forward and back out as well.
06:20There is no boot articulation,
06:22so that is all one continued mold for the rest of the leg.
06:25And the figure does also have pickles on the bottoms of his feet.
06:29I don't know if I love this one as much,
06:31maybe, as the He-Man or the Skeletor.
06:33There's the He-Man right there.
06:35Where'd Skeletor escape to?
06:36I think Skeletor ran away.
06:38Till we meet another day!
06:40Again, to bring back in the snake armor man-at-arms,
06:44I don't know why, again, they chose to go with the colors
06:46that match more closer to this
06:48than maybe going with the colors that they did for the original Origins.
06:51Again, you would kind of think that they'd want to make everything consistent.
06:54Either it's going to look closer to the Origins
06:56or it's going to look closer to the original vintage toy.
06:59In the case, though, of man-at-arms, now having a mustache,
07:02he doesn't seem to succeed in being either one of them.
07:05I'm sure if you're looking to track these down for yourself,
07:07you wouldn't need much help to find a He-Man, nor a Skeletor either.
07:10Of the cases they have available in stores,
07:12both He-Man and Skeletor are the larger quantities of them.
07:15Man-at-arms, though, and Beastman are shorter quantities,
07:18so they're a little harder to find.
07:19Unfortunately, though, I've had zero luck to find these in the stores.
07:23But I did, however, though, find this on the Facebook Marketplace.
07:26It seems to be a good place that if you don't really want to go to places like eBay,
07:30but you maybe want to find a seller that's more closer by,
07:33Facebook Marketplace seemed to be the better bet.
07:35I think I bought both of these, I want to say, for like $35.
07:39Now, I know right now, people are shaking their head.
07:42Buddy, like, I can find these at, like, every store that I go to,
07:45they're just sitting on the pegs.
07:46Well, that may not be the case for everybody.
07:49Here in Canada, though, we never got these at all.
07:51And for me to start at least the quest of trying to collect the entire set,
07:55for me to start and stop with only He-Man and Skeletor,
07:58of course I'm going to try to track down the other two as well.
08:01Well, I succeeded and at least found a Man-at-Arms that we looked at in this review.
08:05And in an upcoming review, yay for that,
08:07we're also going to be looking, though, at the Mighty Masters Beastman.
08:11So, of course, if you guys did want to stick around for that video,
08:13in the meantime, though, let me know down below in the comments section
08:16what you guys think of Man-at-Arms.
08:17You think it's kind of strange, though, that Mattel, of all things,
08:20chose they have a swinging arm feature?
08:22Or do you feel like maybe when it comes to, like, the Mighty Masters,
08:25they should have all had the same gimmick with a swing-back waist?
08:29What do you guys think of this?
08:29Let me know down below in the comments section.
08:31If you guys did, in the meantime, enjoy this video.
08:33Please do it, though, of course, to solid and hit it with a like.
08:35You guys want to stick around for more so?
08:37I hope so.
08:38We have some more content coming your way for the rest of this week.
08:40If you need, though, your fix for more Master Universe,
08:43yeah, popping up at the very end of this video will be a playlist.
08:45As always, guys, thanks for watching.
08:48See you guys next time.
