A massive natural disaster has struck Southeast Michigan right on the Fourth of July weekend! Severe thunderstorms with destructive winds up to 80 mph have left over 325,000 customers completely without power.

The powerful storms caused widespread destruction across Metro Detroit, knocking down trees onto homes, blocking major roads, and downing power lines. Major events like the Royal Oak Taco Fest were forced to shut down after tents went airborne, while intense flooding completely shut down the Southfield Freeway. With temperatures climbing to 90 degrees this holiday weekend, utility crews (DTE Energy) are racing to restore power as more storms threaten the region tonight.
