00:02They've been around since 2012, but catching a glimpse of the Giants is still exciting
00:08for many.
00:09While not everyone is a convert just yet, their fans certainly try hard to make it happen.
00:15I just really like the team, but it's really upsetting sometimes because I'm like, oh did
00:20you see the GWS game?
00:21And they're like, what?
00:23What are you talking about?
00:24I play AFL on Sunday, and on Monday I'm like, oh we had a great game, and I'm like, maybe

00:35The Giants' current deal with the ACT government sees them making the nation's capital their
00:40home away from home until 2032.
00:43That's a financial commitment of $2.85 million a year over the next six years.
00:48With 7,000 registered members in the ACT up nearly 3% from last year, the side continue
00:55to host six games a year in Canberra across their men's and women's sides.
00:59This is my fifth year now coming down, and definitely each year it's growing, so it's
01:04really good to see.
01:05We love getting down here and supporting the community.
01:07They get around us, obviously, when we play at Marnica's.
01:10Marnica Oval holds fond memories as the ground where they registered their first ever Premiership
01:15points.
01:15The Giants will be looking for some of that magic tomorrow when the men's side take on
01:20the league leaders, Fremantle Dockers, with their AFLW side to follow in a pre-season game.
01:25It'll be a special occasion for Canberra local Riley Hamilton, who's set to make his AFL debut.
