00:01It's a really exciting time.
00:04We're going to be open tonight and then we'll open again tomorrow at 3am, ready for the
00:10game.
00:10We're all really excited.
00:12We're expecting a big one.
00:13Have you stocked up with extra booze for it?
00:17Absolutely.
00:18We've ordered almost double stock that we usually would just for the game.
00:24So we know it's going to be massive.
00:25We're so excited.
00:27We're ready.
00:28And so how many, how big have the Australia games been previously and how many people
00:34are you expecting tomorrow morning at 4am?
00:37Yeah, so our Australia games have been complete sellouts.
00:40We're a ticketed event.
00:41So yeah, we've had over 500 people attend the venue just to watch the game, just for the
00:48Socceroos in particular.
00:49And we're expecting the exact same tomorrow.
00:51So it's really exciting.
00:52And have you had a significant bump in numbers through the World Cup generally, not just
00:58for the Australia games?
01:00Yeah, absolutely.
01:01So a lot of our other games have been really, really popular.
01:04The England games specifically as well have been a great hit, another full venue bookout.
01:11So yeah, it's been fantastic just seeing how many people want to come into the venue to
01:17watch the game.
01:17It's amazing.
01:18And how long have you worked there?
01:20And you obviously cater to the sports crowd.
01:22So you've seen interest in events, in other sports events over the years.
01:28How do you compare the interest in this event, this sporting event, compared to other events
01:34that you've catered for?
01:36Yeah, so I haven't been working at the venue for too long, just under a year now, a few
01:40months.
01:41But yeah, it's been amazing to see the difference with the World Cup is that it happens at once
01:46every four years.
01:47So naturally, it's kind of this event that brings everybody together.
01:51But of course, we have so much sport happening.
01:53We're a sports bar.
01:54So obviously seeing massive crowds coming through for games like State of Origin, the AFL, et
02:00cetera, has been fantastic.
02:01But it's definitely different with the games being so early.
02:06But it's incredible to see, you know, even for a 2am game or 1am game, even 4 o'clock
02:11in the morning, it's been amazing seeing just how many people come through the doors.
02:16And we're seeing some images now of crowds.
02:19It was first off in Fed Square.
02:21They're jumping up and down.
02:23What's it like inside a bar when a goal is good?
02:26Is it a bit tough, hard trying to keep people down off tables and chairs?
02:31Oh, look, we love it.
02:33Honestly, it's so hard to contain the excitement when your country kicks a goal.
02:39So, look, we know it's going to be a little bit rowdy.
02:42But, you know, it's fantastic to see, especially to the staff as well, just to see the atmosphere.
02:48And, you know, who doesn't want it?
02:49You know, you're coming out to the pub.
02:51You want to watch the game.
02:52You want to be in the atmosphere.
02:53There's nothing quite like being around, you know, hundreds of people who support the same team as you, having a
03:00beer, having a bit of fun.
03:02You know, we love it.
03:03And sometimes where there's booze involved, it can get a bit ugly.
03:06But how would you describe the vibe around this event and the vibe there's been over the last month or
03:12so with the games?
03:13Yeah, look, honestly, it's been fantastic.
03:16People, you know, people have a lot of fun.
03:18It's a bar, it's a pub.
03:20But ultimately, at the end of the day, for the most part, people have been really well behaved.
03:24Everyone just wants to have a great time.
03:26Like I said, sport has this way of bringing everybody together.
03:30And so we see that in venue.
03:32You know, we see families, we see friends, mates, everyone's gathering together just to watch the game.
03:38So, yeah, the atmosphere has been electric.
03:40And I understand you're a bit of a soccer fan yourself.
03:44Have you got any analysis of where things are headed, how the Australians are looking going into tomorrow or who
03:50you reckon is going to end up winning the cup?
03:53Oh, look, it really depends.
03:57You know, if you asked me this at the very beginning, I would have said, you know, that Germany might
04:02have won, might win the World Cup.
04:04Well, you're way off mark there.
04:06I know, I know, I know.
04:08But look, tomorrow we'll see what Australia can bring to the table.
04:13Hopefully they can kick a couple of goals.
04:15They haven't scored in the last two games.
04:17So, yeah, we're really hoping for a positive turnout for tomorrow for sure.
